I purchased 23.5°N Soy Yogurt Plumping Cream Mask during my last trip to Taiwan in November 2024. Despite knowing that most of their products (23.5°N Bamboo Gel Mask, 23.5°N Red Pearl Barley Brightening Gel Mask and 23.5°N Rice Soothing Active Set) were too gentle for me, I still wanted to give this a try. 

When your skin feels irritated, tight, or just a little out of balance, a cream mask can be a comforting blanket. It’s that extra step of care that helps restore balance and keep the complexion calm, plump, and more resilient.

Unlike clay masks that focus on deep cleansing, cream masks are designed to soothe, hydrate, and strengthen the skin barrier. They give the skin a comforting “reset,” replenishing lost moisture while calming redness and sensitivity.

With good experiences in their past products like Axis-y New Skin Resolution Gel Mask, Axis-y Green Vital Energy Complex Sheet Mask, Axis-y Aqua Boosting Essence Toner, Axis-y Heartleaf My Type Calming Cream and Axis-y Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum, I was excited to try out Axis-Y Spot The Difference Blemish Treatment.

When it comes to blemish treatments, many of us have a love-hate relationship. Traditional spot gels often work fast but leave the skin around the breakout feeling dry, tight, and sometimes even flaky. 

That’s why I prefer one that balances effectiveness with gentleness. A formula that can target blemishes quickly, without stripping or dehydrating the skin, so you get clearer skin and maintain a healthy complexion. The best ones soothe, calm, and reduce redness while keeping the skin comfortable with no harsh dryness, no peeling.

I used to struggle with hormonal pimples that popped up around that time of the month, but as I’ve grown older, they’ve shifted into the occasional random breakout on my chin. That’s why having an effective spot corrector for pimples has become an essential part of my skincare routine. BElixz Maqnifiq comes in a box of 30 individually packed sachets, making it incredibly convenient especially for travel. Just toss a few into your bag and you’re good to go. The powder has a pleasant berry scent and dissolves easily in water, so there’s no clumping or gritty texture to worry about.

How To Use :

Add 1 sachet into 100ml water and stir well.

Ingredients and Performance 

Collagen, as the brand explains, is made up of amino acids and is the most abundant protein in the human body. It’s a key component of our connective tissues, found in muscles, skin, bones, and tendons, acting like a “glue” that holds skin cells together, keeping it firm, strong, and elastic. 

As we age, collagen production slows down, which is why the brand highlights the importance of protecting skin from prolonged sun exposure and eating antioxidant-rich foods to maintain a youthful appearance.

Personally, I enjoy using Maqnifiq as a refreshing iced drink, especially after lunch or post-workout.  The berry flavor makes it enjoyable, so it feels more like a treat than a supplement. 

After two weeks of drinking it daily, I started noticing subtle but positive changes - a healthy glow to my skin, no random chin breakouts (which I usually get), a more even, less dull skin tone, and makeup that went on much smoother and lasted longer.

Overall, BElixz Maqnifiq has been a pleasant surprise in my routine. It is easy to prepare, enjoyable to drink, and with visible results in just a couple of weeks.

Known for its fusion of cutting-edge science and refined elegance, Clé de Peau is all about elevating skin to its most radiant state. The brand places strong emphasis on skin intelligence, hydration, and luminosity which are often reflected in its luxe textures, premium ingredients, and exquisite packaging.

I received a set of Hyaah products as part of a Stylekorean collaboration. They were Mild But Deep Cleansing Water, Licorice First Essence, All In One Ectoin Lotion on top of this Synergy Mask Pad.

Hyaah, pronounced as Hee:YA is a Korean skincare brand which is said to consist of good ingredients, honest processing and continuous research. 

As a skincare content creator, I believe in being selective with my collaborations — only those that genuinely align with my skin type, values, and what I feel will truly benefit my skin. This intentional approach not only helps me maintain integrity, but also allows me to create more thoughtful and meaningful content that you can trust.

Stylekorean x Hyaah invited me for a collaboration which I accepted because I need gentle, non-greasy and hydrating products in this humid climate like Singapore, for my combination-dehydrated skin type. Glad that their products do not disappoint, despite being my first foray into the brand.

I received a box of the rinse-off masks from a good friend who purchased it in Sephora, during Christmas. While I am always happy to receive masks, but unfortunately, products from Peter Thomas Roth didn't were more misses than hits based on past experiences.

I have previously emptied Peter Thomas Roth Rose Stem Cell Bio-Repair Mask which didn't perform up to my expectation but I am hoping that the rest work well. 

[ Review ] T'else Kombucha Teatox Essence

 

Product Description

T'else Kombucha Teatox Essence is a first-step essence with Kombucha extract to hydrate and soften the skin texture. 

I purchased T'else Kombucha Teatox Essence together with Hyggee Vegan Sun Cream, Herbloom Calming Days Vegan Sunscreen, Skin1004 Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum, Foretderm Derma Relief Vegan Suncream and others, during a sale. The essence wasn't really in my list, as skincare essence isn't an essential for me in my skincare routine. 

A first step essence is a specific type of essence used immediately after cleansing—before toner, serum, or moisturizer. It’s designed to be the very first product that touches your skin post-cleanse, hence the name.

These essences are usually lightweight, watery in texture, and packed with fermented ingredients, hydrating agents, or skin-renewing actives. Their primary purpose is to balance the skin's pH, replenish moisture lost during cleansing, and enhance the effectiveness of the rest of your skincare routine by improving absorption.

First step essences are especially popular in Korean skincare routines, where skin prep is essential to achieving that healthy, radiant "glass skin" look. Ideal for all skin types—especially dull, dehydrated, or tired skin—these essences work quietly but powerfully to boost your skin’s vitality from the very first step.

My last emptied essences were Caudalie Vinoperfect Concentrated Brightening Glycolic Essence and Rovectin Aqua Hyaluronic Essence. 

Let’s take a closer look at how T'else Kombucha Teatox Essence performs as a first step essence and whether it lives up to the claims.

[ Review ] Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Gel Mask

 

Product Description

Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Gel Mask is an ultra-gentle gel that helps soothe, hydrate, and detoxify the look of dry, irritated skin with botanical extracts of cucumber, papaya, chamomile, pineapple, sugar maple, sugarcane, orange, lemon, bilberry, and aloe vera. It’s ideal for helping to calm and soothe the skin's appearance after sun exposure, peels, waxing, facials, and extractions.

After emptying Peter Thomas Roth Rose Stem Cell Bio-Repair Mask, it is time to try out Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Gel Mask which unfortunately, was another disappointment. I received 5 x 14ml Peter Thomas Roth masks as a Christmas gift some time back which is available on Sephora during the Christmas period. 

Packaging, Scent and Texture

The one in my arsenal is a 14ml travel sized tube and I also bought a 50ml size a few months later, when it was on sale, when I was running out of rinse-off masks. 

It has a light cucumber scent mixed with some fragrance. The light green gel texture has a cooling and refreshing sensation upon application on skin.

How To Use :

1) Apply a generous coat on clean skin.

2) Allow mask to remain on for 10 minutes.

3) Rinse with cool water.

Tip : Use two to three times a week or daily for intensive hydration.

Performance and Ingredients

Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Gel Mask is marketed as an ultra-gentle, refreshing gel mask designed to soothe, hydrate, and detoxify dry, irritated skin using a blend of botanical extracts. With its cooling texture and calming ingredients, I had high hopes—especially given how often my skin craves hydration and relief from environmental stress.

Upon application, the mask does deliver a refreshing, cooling sensation, which initially feels promising. However, that’s where the benefits ended for me. I didn’t experience any noticeable soothing effect, and surprisingly, it didn’t hydrate my skin at all. The gel absorbed quickly into my skin, almost disappearing within minutes, but left behind a slight taut feeling—particularly around my philtrum (the area between the nose and upper lip), which was a bit uncomfortable.

After rinsing off the mask, my skin felt virtually unchanged. My skin texture, especially on the nose, remained rough and dehydrated. Unfortunately, the mask didn’t deliver the results I was looking for, and I was left disappointed—especially considering the price point of the 50ml purchase.

Overall, while this mask might work for someone with very sensitive or reactive skin looking for a barely-there treatment, it was simply too gentle for what my skin needed. I’ll be reaching for something more hydrating and restorative next time.

Conclusion

To conclude, while Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Gel Mask offers a refreshing, cooling application, it ultimately fell short of its claims—for my skin, at least. It neither soothed nor hydrated effectively, and the lack of visible results left me underwhelmed. This mask may suit those with very sensitive or non-dehydrated skin looking for a light, calming treatment, but for skin in need of deeper hydration and noticeable soothing benefits, it may be too gentle to make a real difference.

Currently using their Cherry Blossom Hand Cream in office, my last 2 experiences were on L'Occitane Immortelle Divine Cream, L'Occitane Immortelle Reset Serum and L'Occitane Precious Overnight Mask.

If you are interested in L'Occitane products, one way to try out more of their products is to participate in their recycling program where you get to try some of their travel-sized products after sending in some empties for recycling. It is a win-win situation for both sides and I hope more brands will do that. 

After experiencing their Relaxing Pillow Mist via the recycling program, I started buying it for myself and others as Christmas gifts.

Through extensive research and development, MIGUHARA develops safe and efficacious skin care and make up products from natural, plant-based ingredients to promote skin regeneration and maintain healthy skin. 

When it comes to sun protection, more really is more. While a good sunscreen is non-negotiable in any skincare routine, I’ve recently added a new step that’s made a noticeable difference—applying a sun stick as a primer before my regular sunscreen. At first, it might sound like overkill, but layering sun protection doesn’t just boost effectiveness; it also helps ensure better coverage, especially on days when I’m out and about.

Miguhara Daily Herb Sun Stick is a 20g product with a sleek compact packaging designed for portability and ease of use. Housed in a twist-up tube —similar to a deodorant stick or oversized lip balm—they fit comfortably in the palm of your hand and slide easily into any purse, pocket, or makeup bag. It has a snap-on cover, with a clear plastic lid for hygiene and accidental mess. 

It has a soapy perfume-like fragrance which I rather do without, if given an option but thankfully, its not overpowering. The balm texture has a glowy finishing.

Sigi Skin is a local skincare brand which I have been eyeing for awhile and after purchasing its popular sunscreen (which I have yet to open), I purchased its Acne Rescue Kit where Sigi Skin Daylight Oasis Vitamin C Brightening Serum comes free. It was given free, as the serum was expiring in 3 months time but it wasn't mentioned during the product listing (which was such a shame). 

According to its website, Sigi Skin is a local award-winning skincare brand dedicated to delivering superfood infused with clinically proven actives skincare products that are both effective and free of toxins. Powered by a combination of carefully curated superfood and scientifically proven ingredients, the products are multi-purpose, protecting skin and repairing damage caused by pollution and environmental stressors. Vegan, cruelty-free and made in Korea.

I first came across this mineral sunscreen after reading about it on Bemused instagram account and was intrigued by it. When there was a sale on their website, I purchased this, together with a few other sunscreens in order to enable the free shipping option. 

Korean cosmeceutical brand FORETDERM uses carefully selected natural and safe ingredients to develop gentle but effective skin care. The clean beauty brand also adopts green practices, like eco-friendly product packaging, to minimize its impact on the environment.

Foretderm Derma Relief Vegan Suncream is a 50ml tube product with a minimalistic vibe. It has a lightweight soft creamy powdery texture with a manageable white cast. There is a subtle sunscreen scent. 

How To Use :

After your morning skincare routine, take an appropriate amount and apply it evenly to the face and neck. For effective UV protection, re-apply as needed.

The key ingredients are....

Butyloctyl Salicylate : Helps to increase the SPF rating and enhance the stability of other UV filters like Oxybenzone and Avobenzone. It is not reef-safe. Currently not registered as a sunscreen active yet. 

Said to be the modified version of the chemical UV filter Octisalate which was created intentionally by the sunscreen industry to avoid having Octislate on the ingredient listing as a declared active and used by formulators to disguise the presence of a ‘chemical’ UV filter in mineral sunscreen formulas. It is also used to reduce the amount of inorganic mineral filters needed to get a desired labelled SPF and PPD rating.  (source)

[ Review ] Dear Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream

 

Product Description

Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream helps to calm extremely irritated, stressed skin. For oily, acne-prone and sensitive skin types, this cream can also be used to calm sunburnt skin, post-shaving redness and irritation after spot extraction and laser procedures.

The star ingredient in this cream is Guaiazulene, a powerful skin-calming agent extracted from chamomile oil. It's what gives the cream its beautiful blue color. Added to this is Centella, which hydrates skin and relieves irritation and redness. Perfect for daily use, this cream is what you need to keep redness at bay.

I received Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream as part of my 2nd Wishtrend Affiliate collaboration some time back. I get to choose 5 products in return for product reviews and I chose this, as I really like Dear Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Sheet Mask. Unfortunately, the rules for Wishtrend Affiliate has changed recently so I am no longer eligible for it. 

Some recent Dear Klairs products which I have emptied were Dear Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Cream, Dear Klairs All-day Airy Mineral Sunscreen and Dear Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activating Drop. 

Packaging, Scent and Texture 

Dear Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream is a 60g product, housed in a black minimalistic plastic tube. The baby blue cream looks so alluring, which is due to the main ingredient, Guaiazulene, a botanical ingredient extracted from Chamomile Oil. The original colour is a deep blue but becomes a cool light blue during the mixing process. 

The Calming Cream acts more like a treatment product, rather than a moisturiser. It doesn't have any fragrance. 

How To Use : 

Apply a small amount on the affected area in the morning and evening after using toner and serum.

Tips :

Use partially on your skin when:

1) you are sunburned

2) after shaving

3) on problematic areas or extrusions

Q. Can I use Blue Cream as a daily moisturizer?

A. Applying the cream over the whole face may not provide enough moisturization for dry skin. In that case, we recommend using this cream as a supplement following a moisturizing cream

Performance and Ingredients

The Midnight Blue Calming Cream is a gentle, azulene-rich cream that provides help to rapidly calm and soothe sensitivity.

My initial experience with this product was a bit underwhelming. I first used it as a daily moisturizer, and while it has a thick, rich texture, it didn’t provide the hydration my skin needed. After a week, I noticed subtle flakiness around my chin and philtrum, and a rough texture developing on my nose. Applying it post-exercise on a hot day also led to a stinging sensation on my cheeks—definitely not ideal.

However, after some trial and error, I discovered its true potential. Rather than using it as a daily moisturizer, I now reserve it as a treatment product for irritated or sensitized skin. On days when my skin reacts poorly like to Hur Cleansing Balms or Sigiskin Vitamin C serum—this product acts as a calming rescue as I will apply it all over the face. It soothes red patches effectively, and by the next morning, my skin looks noticeably calmer and less inflamed. I will continue using it as a moisturizer for the next 3 days until all the redness or irritation spots subsided. 

That said, it still lacks the hydration I need, so I always pair it with a more hydrating serum or mask to fully support my skin barrier.

Centella Asiatica : Often used for healing damaged skins and as an anti-inflammatory agent. Centella Asiatica in this calming cream hydrates the skin and relieves redness.

To conclude, Dear Klairs Midnight Blue Calming Cream is best used as a skin-soothing treatment rather than a standalone moisturizer—especially helpful for calming irritation and redness, but not quite enough on its own for dry or dehydrated skin.

Packaging, Scent and Texture 

By Wishtrend Pore Smoothing Bakuchiol Sun Stick is an 18g stick-type chemical sunscreen that protects skin from UV damage with SPF 50 PA++++. It doesn't have any fragrance. 

Just remove the cover, twist the base of the container to raise the stick, and swipe it all over your face thrice for sun protection. Thrice is my preference but it is best to layer a few rounds and I still apply a regular sunscreen after the sun stick.
