Review : Pixi Glow Tonic Exfoliating Toner

Pixi Glow Tonic Exfoliating Toner Review
Product Description
A gently exfoliating toner for more even, brighter and clearer skin. Cult-favorite Glow Tonic by Pixi removes dead skin cells to reveal healthy glowing skin and a refined texture that looks and feels smooth. The hypoallergenic formula is made with botanical extracts, including aloe vera and ginseng, to soothe sensitive skin.

I received a 15ml travel size sample from one of Sephora's events and is so glad to have tried out the product. It is said to firm and tighten normal to dry, dull and ageing skin and the oxygenating tonic removes dead skin cells, leaving skin healthy and radiant. With 5% Glycolic, the fluid hydrates the skin, and Aloe Vera and Ginseng help to soothe during application.

Glycolic acid is part of the group of active compounds known as AHA's (alpha hydroxy acids). Derived from cane sugar: It has the smallest molecules in the group so is able to penetrate skin deeply and easily, making it the most effective for treating fine lines, acne, blackheads, dullness, oiliness etc.

I am currently using Pixi Glow Tonic, prior to InstaNatural Pro Radiant Skin Brightening Vitamin C Serum and they are such a perfect combination, giving rise to beautiful skin with super smooth texture. A moisturiser is needed since Vitamin C serum is drying and unlike what others say, I don't feel that the Glow Toner is drying on my skin which is great. I have been pairing them with Naruko Taiwan Magnolia Brightening and Firming Lotion EX which was surprisingly moisturising, hence it worked pretty well with both Pixi Glow Tonic and InstaNatural Pro Radiant Skin Brightening Vitamin C Serum.

However, its been said that even though Vitamin C can be used together with acidic ingredients like Glycolic or Salicylic Acid, they can alter its pH which can reduce the effectiveness of your Vitamin C so it is recommended to use each on its own, in order to derive the best results.

On its own, Pixi Glow Tonic Exfoliating Toner is a lovely and gentle toner without any stinging, drying, irritating or reddening effect. My initial worries about it being too harsh on my sensitive skin went out of the window on the first day I tried it.

To be honest, there wasn't any WOW effect when I first started it, in fact, my skin felt almost the same, but I saw the difference after 3 days and more changes along the way.

This is a demonstration of how to use the Glow Tonic :

Paraben-free and alcohol-free, the Glow Tonic is so worth the hype worldwide, my T-zone has become less oily after 3 days of using it, the dead cells were cleared, the pores on my nose has become much smaller and the blackheads on the nose were minimized.

My skin is smooth and more refined and there have not been any new pimples since I started using the Tonic. I don't have an acne problem but when it comes to that time of the month, more often than not, I would have 1 or 2 zits but now, its just zero. Nowadays, I can just go bare-faced with minimal make-up. It is seriously that good. No kidding!

This product is just so amazing and I really have to urge all of you to go try it for yourself to experience the transformation to your skin. The price is reasonable and for the benefits you are going to get, I can almost say that the product is value for money.

However, on the other side of the fence, do note that skincare guru, Paula from Beautypedia felt that the effects are minimized because the pH of this formula is slightly above the range required for optimal exfoliation.

On top of it, the high concentration of witch hazel that this liquid toner features is a sensitizing ingredient and with fragrance in the list, they can lead to visible problems that include redness, rough skin, dull skin, dryness, increases in oil production, clogged pores, and contribute to making signs of aging worse. So for those with extremely sensitive and vulnerable skin, you may have to take a patch test first, before trying it on your face.
