[ Review ] Dear Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Charging Serum

 

Product Description

Dear Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Charging Serum is a vitamin C derivative serum that helps to achieve radiant, healthy-looking skin. Can be used on sensitive skin and absorbs into the skin without leaving any sticky or oily residue.

I didn't have a good experience with the ever-popular Dear Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop so I was glad to have a chance to try out Dear Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Charging Serum which was gifted to me by @klairs.sg on Instagram. 

Launched on 8th May 2023, Freshly Juiced Vitamin Charging Serum contains 10% Vitamin C derivative serum that brightens and tightens for radiant, bouncy skin. 

Vitamin C is the gold standard of antioxidant and is highly recommended to be included in a daily skincare routine for a solid well-aging care. It is closely associated with L-ascorbic acid which is also known as the pure vitamin C with scientific evidence and benefits for the skin, however it can be unstable (oxidize quickly) and can only be formulated at a specific low pH.

Hence, vitamin C derivatives come and fill in the gap and one of the most commonly found vitamin C derivatives in skincare is the 3-O-Ethyl ascorbic acid, found in Dear Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Charging Serum.

According to Wishtrend, it has water- and oil-soluble properties and once absorbed into skin, it metabolizes it as pure vitamin C, providing one with pure vitamin c benefits with it.

EO ( which stands for Essential Oils ) is one of my favourite brands from Iherb and I have tried out several of their shower gels namely, EO French Lavender Shower Gel, EO Eucalyptus and Arnica soothing Bubble Bath and EO Time Out Shower Gel.

Made in USA, EO products use safe, natural, organic and sustainably-farmed ingredients 

After using up 2 tubs of Fizzy Fern Espresso Body Scrub, it is time to look out for another body scrub, and EO French Lavender Body Polish caught my attention. Unfortunately, it is no longer available on Iherb. 

Packaging, Scent and Texture

EO French Lavender Body Polish is a 177ml tube product. It has a lovely and soothing french lavender scent which I adore and the creamy exfoliator is never abrasive on skin.

How To Use : 

1) Gently massage onto body in the shower

2) Leave on for 1-2 minutes as you inhale the aroma of pure essential oils. 

3) Rinse thoroughly. 

Tip : Use 3x per week for optimal results. 

Performance and Ingredients

This luxurious cream exfoliator gently polishes away dull, dry skin with skin-refining blueberry seed powder and exfoliating pineapple enzymes. Coconut oil and mango seed butter lock in moisture, revealing velvety smooth, nourished skin that is soft to the touch and radiant. 

I enjoyed using EO French Lavender Body Polish with its soothing lavender scent and non-abrasive creamy contents that left my body soft and smooth, however strangely, when contents are nearing to the end, I noticed ants milling around the cap. The product was placed in my bathroom then.

Conclusion

To conclude, EO French Lavender Body Polish is one of my favourite body exfoliator with a great lavender scent, non-abrasive creamy contents that left my skin soft and smooth.

Geek & Gorgeous has two A-Game serums - A-Game 10 and A-Game 5 where A-Game 10 is a 0.1% Retinal Serum and A-Game 5 is a 0.05% Retinal Serum. 

I only started using retinol in 2020 and it wasn't a staple in my routine until late last year, however, I was game to try out A-Game 10 as I have used Allies of Skin Retinal & Peptides Repair Night Cream, 5erenity2 Renew Serum, Sisters By Pearry's First Care Essence and Somethinc 1% Pure Retinol + Squalane before. 

Retinoids are a category of skincare products beloved for their skin-firming and acne-clearing abilities. You might know these products or ingredients by any number of names, including retinol, retinoid, tretinoin, retinaldehyde, retinoic acid, and Vitamin A. And while none of these words means exactly the same thing, they all share similar abilities when applied topically. Just embrace the category of retinoids, which is also more commonly referred to as “retinols.”

There is a plethora of data showing that consistent retinoid use minimizes fine lines, evens skin tone, smooths texture, and decreases acne.

When you apply any retinoid product to your skin, the vitamin A from which it is derived converts to its active form, retinoic acid. This tells your skin to increase cellular regeneration and collagen production and this action triggers the smoothing of fine lines and wrinkles, improved skin tone, texture, and clarity, while brightening the look of dark marks and age spots.

Retinoids increase the rapidity in which the outer layers of the skin turn over. This can be helpful for unclogging pores, removing dead skin cells, preventing acne, and also as an antiaging medication. With regular use, people are able to achieve a glow-like appearance to their skin and less crinkliness. 

[ Review ] Jowae Revitalizing Moisturizing Shower Gel

 

Product Description

Its a real pleasure to feel water running over your skin after a hard day with this shower gel based on hibiscus, Koreas iconic flower, for a deep feeling of relaxation. Its fragrance reveals aromas of exhilarating freesia, orchid and pink cedar. The skin also takes full advantage through replenishing and relaxing hibiscus and antioxidant Lumiphenols, Jowas patented* signature active ingredient.

I purchased several Jowae products from Robinsons late last year and emptied Jowae Soothing Cleansing Milk and Jowae Stimulating Moisturizing Shower Gel so far. 

Jowae Revitalizing Moisturizing Shower Gel is my second shower gel from the brand.

Packaging, Scent and Texture 

Jowae Revitalizing Moisturizing Shower Gel is a 400ml product housed in a plastic tall bottle with a flick top cap. Its perfume, with notes of relaxing hibiscus, leaves the skin delicately scented. The gel texture is clear in colour. 

How To Use :

1) Rinse the skin with water. Apply the product while performing gentle circular movements. 

2) Continue until emulsified. Apply morning and evening.

Performance and Ingredients

Jowaé revitalizing moisturizing shower gel bamboo is a bath care that gently cleanses while respecting the skin’s balance. Thanks to its physiological pH formula and its washing base of natural biodegradable origin, it is suitable for all skin types. Including the most sensitive skin.

Formulated with antioxidant Lumiphenols and Bamboo water, this shower gel contains 95% components of natural origin.

Light and gentle, Jowae Revitalizing Moisturizing Shower Gel suds up easily and lathers well, unfortunately, after using 1/4 of the contents, it started to get drying on skin. 

Similarly to Jowae Stimulating Moisturizing Shower Gel, the gel texture seemed to glide on the surface of skin and doesn't provide a good showering experience. While it left skin soft and smooth, the drying effect isn't what I am looking for, in a shower gel. 

The key ingredients are ....

Lumiphenols : Thanks to its antioxidant content, it helps the skin to rebalance itself while protecting it against daily aggressions.

Bamboo water : As the premium ingredient in this formula,  it is rich in essential vitamins and amino acids with highly moisturizing benefits. In this sense, this active will perform a moisturizing, emollient, and even regenerating action.  

Glycerin : Moisturizing, provides protection and softness to the skin while preserving its elasticity.

Conclusion

To conclude, Jowae Revitalizing Moisturizing Shower Gel isn't the best fit for me, as it is drying even though it lathers and foams well. I also didn't like how it appears to glide over the body rather than doing a thorough cleansing job, hence it won't be a repurchase.

I am thankful to try out this new brand thanks to the collaboration from Stylekorean. Prior to this collaboration, I have hardly heard of the brand. Launched globally in 2014, Be The Skin aims to be the most skin-friendly brand by comparing the human skin environment to natural conditions.

[ Review ] The Body Shop Pink Grapefruit Shower Gel

 

Product Description

Now Vegan Society certified and made with 92% ingredients of natural origin including grapefruit extract and Community Fair Trade organic aloe vera from Mexico, our hardworking Shower Gel helps leave skin feeling soft. The sharp and sweet notes of this fragrance are like slicing a big, juicy grapefruit in half and leave you smelling citrusy.

I received a trio of shower gels from a friend during last Christmas and brought along the 60ml travel-friendly shower gel to my recent Royal Carribean Spectrum of the Seas cruise. My last product from the brand was The Body Shop Winter Jasmine Shower Gel.

Packaging, Scent and Texture 

The Body Shop Pink Grapefruit Shower Gel is housed in a 60ml clear plastic bottle with pretty illustrations of grapefruits. It has a flick-top cap for easy dispensing, however I found the cap to be pretty tight and was not easy to be "flick" open. The pink gel texture lathers well. 

How To Use : 

1. Lather up into a thick foam.

2. Slather all over damp skin.

3. Rinse.

Performance and Ingredients

I was glad to have brought this shower gel on my cruise. AM shower needs to help you wake up and go-go-go, and The Body Shop Pink Grapefruit Shower Gel indeed helps to wake up the senses with the zest and zing of pink grapefruit. 

Suitable for all skin types, it lathers up a treat, transforming from a light gel texture into a rich bubbly foam, leaving skin feeling soft, cleansed and refreshed.

I love the citrus scent with its zingy and refreshing aroma which was such a joy to breathe in during my morning showers on cruise and back home, however it contains Sodium Laureth Sulfate which can be drying for the long term. 

That said, you will be happy to know that the bottle is recyclable and made from 100% recycled plastic and that 92% ingredients comes from natural origin.

The key ingredients are....

Community Fair Trade Organic Aloe Vera : Ultra-gentle and soothing on skin, aloe vera is perfect for the sensitive skin range. It’s a naturally hardy plant. The aloe vera leaves are harvested and filleted by hand within 6 hours, which preserves the freshness and makes sure the aloe is the highest possible quality. The Body Shop source the organic aloe vera from Campeche in south-east Mexico. 

Pink Grapefruit Seed Oil : Squish grapefruit seeds for their essential oil to add to their zingy, sweet and citrusy-smelling products.

To conclude, The Body Shop Pink Grapefruit Shower Gel with its zesty citrus fragrance and pink gel texture that lathers well gives rise to a good showering experience, however it contains Sodium Laureth Sulfate which can be drying for the long term.
