A good day cream with SPF does more than just moisturize as it helps protect the skin from daily sun exposure while keeping the complexion comfortable throughout the day. With so many formulas promising hydration, UV protection, and skincare benefits in one step, finding one that truly performs can be challenging.

I was excited to finally try Elemis after receiving it in my Cult Beauty Sun Edit purchase. Mine came in a convenient 15ml travel size, which I happily reached for every morning as part of my daily skincare routine.

For context, I’m usually quite particular about day creams with SPF because many fail to provide enough hydration for my combination skin with surface dehydration. Over the years, I have tried several popular ones such as Naruko Rose Hydrating Tone Up Cream SPF 30, Josh Rosebrook Nutrient Day Cream SPF 30, Grown Alchemist Hydra-Repair Day Cream, Dr. Hauschka Rose Day Cream Light, Mádara Time Miracle Day Advanced Anti-Aging Day Cream, and Pai Chamomile & Rosehip Calming Day Cream. Most offered decent sun protection or skincare benefits, but few delivered the lasting hydration and comfort I personally look for, until Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream SPF 30 comes along.

Made in the UK, Elemis is a high-end British skincare brand.

Packaging, Scent and Texture

Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream SPF 30 Texture

The original retail size of the Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream SPF 30 comes in a 50ml jar, while mine was the smaller 15ml travel size included in a beauty set.

Texture-wise, this lightweight gel-cream moisturiser was a delight to use. The soft and airy formula glides effortlessly across the skin, absorbs beautifully, and feels comfortable without being heavy or greasy. The silky texture makes it particularly pleasant as a daily day cream with SPF, especially for layering under makeup or sunscreen.

Unfortunately, I don't fancy the strong fragrance from rose and mimosa. Personally, I prefer fragrance-free skincare as I find fragrance unnecessary in facial products, especially for daily use. However, those who enjoy a more luxurious sensory skincare experience may appreciate the fresh floral-like scent.

How To Use :
Every morning after cleansing, warm a pea-size amount between your palms then gently smooth over the face, neck and décolleté in upwards strokes.

Performance and Ingredients

Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream SPF 30 is a well-known hydrating day cream with added broad-spectrum SPF 30 protection, designed to hydrate the skin while helping to defend against UV-induced premature ageing. The formula combines marine and plant-based actives that target fine lines, wrinkles, and skin dryness while delivering long-lasting hydration throughout the day.

In terms of performance, this moisturiser worked surprisingly well for my skin. Unlike many day creams that tend to feel drying or cause flaky patches, this formula provided sufficient hydration and kept my skin feeling comfortable all day. However, do note that it still left my skin with a subtle layer of shine on the T-zone.

With regular use, my complexion looked healthier, smoother, and noticeably plumper although I didn't quite fancy the shine or the heavy fragrance.

While anti-ageing benefits such as wrinkle reduction will naturally take time to show visible results, the immediate hydrating and skin-smoothing effects were noticeable. My skin felt more nourished overall, which made this cream enjoyable to incorporate into my daily morning skincare routine.

That said, I still apply a separate sunscreen after using this moisturiser, as I personally prefer relying on a dedicated sunscreen for sufficient daily UV protection.

The key ingredients are....

Padina Pavonica : Contains antioxidants to shield skin against free radicals, harmful atoms that attack collagen and speed up premature aging. They work to soothe the skin, strengthen its natural barrier, and maintain healthy moisture levels. With regular use, they can also improve skin firmness and texture, resulting in a smoother and more radiant appearance.

Ginkgo Biloba : Improve circulation and defends the skin from everyday damage caused by pollution and sun exposure. This can lead to a more even tone and smoother texture.

Mimosa : Soothes the skin and supports collagen, which helps maintain firmness and softness.

Aqua/Water/Eau, Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glyceryl Stearate Se, Isononyl Isononanoate, Dicaprylyl Carbonate, Dimethicone, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Germ Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Chlorella Vulgaris Extract, Padina Pavonica Thallus Extract, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Root Extract, Porphyridium Cruentum Extract, Acacia Decurrens (Mimosa) Flower Extract, Rosa Centifolia (Rose) Flower Extract, Ginkgo Biloba Leaf Extract, Tocopherol, Phenoxyethanol, Polyacrylate-13, Stearic Acid, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Coco-Caprylate, Cetyl Alcohol, Xanthan Gum, Glyceryl Polyacrylate, Polyisobutene, Fragrance (Parfum), Citric Acid, Chlorphenesin, Glyceryl Acrylate/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Disodium Edta, Polysorbate 20, Sorbitan Isostearate, Linalool, Citronellol, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Geraniol, Limonene.

Conclusion

To conclude, Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream SPF 30 delivers good hydration with a healthier and smooth finish that sets it apart from many typical day creams with SPF. Its blend of marine and plant-based actives, along with broad-spectrum SPF 30, makes it a convenient all-in-one moisturiser that supports skin softness and helps improve the appearance of dryness and fine lines over time.

While the immediate results in terms of hydration, plumpness, and skin comfort are impressive, the long-term anti-ageing claims would naturally require consistent, extended use to fully assess. For me, it performs best as a nourishing day cream that enhances skin texture, even if I still prefer layering a separate sunscreen for added protection.
