[ Review ] : Skylake Herb Chaeun Hair Tonic

The Skylake Herb Chaeun Hair Tonic is formulated with the patented Skylake Oriental Herb Extract, green tea extract and oriental herb extracts. It nourishes the scalp, strengthens the hair follicles, helps decrease dandruff formation as well as helps with hair growth. It helps revitalize hair, and helps decrease hair loss.

Taking care of our skin should be a joyful experience and I really enjoyed taking care of it. But what is next after skincare? Haircare! I never have to worry much about my hair in the past because its thick and long so I just have to ensure the tresses are less damaged which led me to stop perming my hair and use more moisturizing hair products. However, with age and more work responsibilities, grey hair was getting out of control and recently, I also noticed that my hair crown was getting flatter. 

I have been wanting to try Skylake Herb Chaeun Hair Tonic ever since I did my beauty shopping research in Korea but did not manage to get it. Back in Singapore, I was glad to chance upon it in Hebeloft and promptly purchased one bottle. Check out my previous post on Skylake Oriental Herb Relax Toner Review. 

Packaging, Scent and Texture

Skylake Herb Chaeun Hair Tonic comes in a 110ml clear bottle with a pointed spritz dispenser. It has a calming herbal scent like the rest of the products. The scent intensity is just right for me, without being overpowering.  Its runny in texture and you just need to spritz on the scalp and massage it gently.  

How To Use : 

Towel dry hair after a shower and spray the hair tonic directly on the scalp. For better absorption, gently massage with the fingers for about 1-2 minutes.

Performance and Ingredients

The Skylake Herb Hair Tonic is formulated with the patented Skylake oriental herb extract, green tea extract that nourishes and soothes the scalp generously, strengthens the hair follicles, inhibits dandruff and caters to hair growth. It also thickens and strengthens weak and damaged hair, and stimulates hair growth.

I usually spray the hair tonic on scalp spots from the right ear to the crown and to the left ear, gently massage my scalp and off I go. I love the scent and how easy it is to use the tonic. The bottle is light and portable while the dispenser works perfectly except when its down to the last 20% and it started getting harder to reach the remaining contents.  

The cooling and minty sensation is invigorating and refreshing and with its lightweight and non-greasy texture, you never have to worry about it messing your hairstyle and looking like you never wash your hair. However, after using it regularly for the last 3 months, I have to say, I didn't notice much difference. Yes, my hair still grows however I didn't notice any new regrowth or thicker hair than norm. 

In terms of ingredients, Skylake Herb Chaeun Hair Tonic contains 6.8% of Houttuynia Cordata fermented broth and 14 kinds of herbal ingredients! It conveys the power of natural healthy energy to the powerless scalp, thin hair. 

That said, it does contain alcohol although its found further down in the list so the concentration may not be that high, however if you are allergic to alcohol, do take note.

Conclusion

To conclude, Skylake Herb Chaeun Hair Tonic was a lovely calming hair tonic with natural and herbal ingredients however I have yet to see any result from it hence it won't be a repurchase. So far, their skincare products fared better for me.

Alternatively, you can consider trying out NaturVital Hairloss Tonic Treatment and Parachute Advansed Ayurvedic Hair Oil for stronger hair and lesser hair fall.

While there is truly no way to completely eliminate dark circles and eye bags as the reasons are multi-factorial and range from everything from genetics to lifestyle to age but topical products like eye masks can most definitely improve the situation, not to mention deliver a whole host of other benefits for tired, stressed out eyes.

Kose was my very first beauty brand when I first started dabbling into skincare as it was a brand which my mum uses. However, I have steered clear from the brand in recent years as I prefer alcohol-free products.

Packaging, Scent and Texture

Kose Cosmeport Clear Turn Premium Royal Jelly Mask ( Collagen ) has a strong offensive alcohol scent when I first pulled it out from its packaging before layering on skin. While it did have a subtle relaxing floral scent, the alcohol scent was much stronger. The material is thin with a moderate good fitting that comes with eye flaps.

[ Review ] : Tony Moly Master Lab Hyaluronic Acid Mask Sheet ( Hydrating )

I received a sheet of Tony Moly Master Lab Hyaluronic Acid Mask Sheet together with other sheet masks as Christmas gifts from friends. Here are some of my past reviews on Tony Moly Pureness 100 Propolis Mask, Tony Moly Panda Dream Eye Patch and Tony Moly Panda's Dream So Cool Eye Stick.

[ Review ] : Hirosophy EGF Moisture Mask

 

Product Description

Hirosophy EGF Moisture Mask is formulated with EGF protein which stimulates cell growth and recovery. 

I received a sheet of Hirosophy EGF Moisture Mask from a good friend who just came back from Japan. Prior to receiving this, I have never heard of the brand but it turned out that its pretty popular among celebrities. 

Hirosophy, a medical-grade skincare brand from Japan has won favour from celebrities such as Gong Li, Fan Bingbing and Zhang Ziyi. If you understand Japanese, you can read more about the brand on its website. 

Packaging, Scent and Texture

Hirosophy EGF Moisture Mask has a thin and lightweight material with no scent. The cutting is small and the size does not stretch beyond the edges of my cherubic face shape. 

How To Use :

1) After cleansing and toning your face, place the mask on for approx. 10 minutes before removing. 

2) Pat in any remaining essence. 

Performance and Ingredients

Recommended for people who are concerned about pores, wrinkles and dryness, Hirosophy EGF Moisture Mask does not contain paraben, alcohol, scent, color and mineral oil and is gentle for all skin types.

This is a limited mask commemorating the 15th anniversary of the founding of Hiroshima. Beauty ingredients such as EGF, Platinum, and Collagen which specialize in aging care and moisturizing help to provide clear and moisturized skin. Hydrating ingredients such as Hyaluronic Acid, Collagen, Placenta and Squalane are also added to moisturize and support skin's turnover.

Hirosophy EGF Moisture Mask reminds me vaguely of Lululun sheet masks with its small cutting, which seemed to be meant for smaller faces. Check out my previous reviews on Lululun Face Mask ( Pink ) and Lululun Face Mask ( White ). 

After a 10 minute masking session, my skin certainly looked bright, clear and fresh which are great for use just before an important event.  

The key ingredient, EGF, also known as Cuckon Extract Human Oligopeptide-1 is a protein that promotes youthful and healthy skin by boosting collagen and elastin production and is one of the most important growth factors for skin. 

As we age, our production of EGF slows down, resulting in the formation of fine lines and wrinkles. EGF can replenish what’s lost via a moisturising cellular activator that stimulates skin cell renewal by signalling cells to boost collagen and elastin production for healthy, dense, and youthful skin.

To conclude, Hirosophy EGF Moisture Mask has a smaller cutting meant for smaller faces but I like that it delivers - my skin looked clear, fresh and bright! This product was also featured in my Top 21 Beauty Empties I Loved in 2021.

[ Review ] : Huxley Secret Of Sahara Hydration Trio ( Toner, Essence, Cream )

I purchased Huxley Secret Of Sahara Hydration Trio when I was in Korea as it was not available in Singapore then. I love its minimalist and clean packaging and the aesthetic is just so on-point! 

However, the naming for each of the products were quite a mouthful and I get confused with the different ranges - hydration, brightening and anti-aging as the names sounded almost similar. I am glad to make the right choice in choosing this set. Lets delve down to see how this Hydration Trio Set works for me!

[ Review ] : Dr. Hu Bird Nest Peptides Collagen Eye Treatment Mask

While preparing for my brother's wedding in late November, I start searching around for some eye masks as I wanted my undereye areas to be at my best. Stumbled upon Dr. Hu Treatment Eye Masks and promptly purchased both Dr. Hu Bird Nest Peptides Collagen Eye Treatment Mask and Dr. Hu Collagen & Seaweed Eye Treatment Mask. 

The eyes are the windows to your soul and the main purpose of under eye patches is to moisturize the delicate skin under the eyes. Skin around the eyes contains less amount of sebaceous glands which makes skin in this area to be prone to dryness and it is also thinner hence, it is delicate and prone to wrinkles and other signs of aging. 

Good moisturizing is therefore important but unfortunately, I have yet to find a good eye mask hence my search for that perfect pair of eye masks is always on-going.  

Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Debra Jaliman explains that eye masks are loaded with beneficial ingredients, which you place on the periorbital area. While there are tons of eye masks on the market, Dr. Jaliman suggests using ones with ingredients that can tighten and brighten the under-eye area.

Look for ingredients that target puffiness, dark circles, dry skin, and fine lines such as hyaluronic acid, cucumber, peptides, collagen, retinol, and caffeine.

[ Review ] : A'pieu Madecassoside Gauze Mask

 

Product Description

Madecassoside gauze mask derived from nature strengthens skin barrier by providing protective film to the skin. Contains 100ppm of Madecassoside, Centella Asiatica Extract, Sage Leaf Extract, and Chamomilla Recutita Flower Extract. It will provide a wrinkle improvement and whitening function and ventilates air well.

I purchased a sheet of A'pieu Madecassoside Gauze Mask when I was in Korea. Because of good experiences with A'pieu products, I am always open to trying out more of the brand's products. 

A'pieu Pure Block Daily Sun Cream was one of my Top 25 products in 2020. You can check out the rest of A'pieu products I had tried before. 

Packaging, Scent and Texture

A'pieu Madecassoside Gauze Mask has a slight medicated scent with a cooling minty sensation. The eco-friendly tencel mask is made with eucalyptus leaves and cotton which is gentle on skin. Soft with a medium consistency, the sheet mask adheres well on skin with a good fitting. 

How to Use :

1) After cleansing, prepare the skin with a toner. 

2) Remove the film and place the mask on the face.

3) After 10 - 20 minutes of use, remove the sheet mask and gently pat leftover essence to increase absorption

Performance and Ingredients

Made in Korea, A'pieu Madecassoside Gauze Mask is a dual functional product with wrinkle and whitening benefits. It is is said to soothe, moisturize, firm and brighten skin in one go with this tencel mask, enriched with madecassoside from centella. 

The tencel mask is eco-friendly and optimal  for delivering moisture to skin. I like the soft and comfortable fit on skin as it helps to soothe and moisturize sensitive skin caused by dryness for a hydrated and healthy skin

After a 20 minute masking session, skin looked calmed, fresh and brighter, however there was a slight taut sensation on the upper lips.

To conclude, A'pieu Madecassoside Gauze Mask is a nice mask for soothed, fresh and brighter skin, however, because of the taut sensation, this mask would not be a repurchase.
