Review : Mamonde Camellia Antiaging Flower Lab Essence Mask

Mamonde Camellia Antiaging Flower Lab Essence Mask Review

Product Description
A super adhesive mask featuring flower extracts at 2,000 ppm that effectively deliver nutrients to the skin. It is a firming mask that helps your complexion appear more refined.

Mamonde Camellia Antiaging Flower Lab Essence Mask is made of cellulose sheet, known as "Light Fit Cell" that was extracted from tree pulp such as eucalyptus trees. The material is soft and translucent and adheres closely to skin to retain moisture for longer periods.

This popular KBeauty brand, fronted by the beautiful Park Shin Hye, has made a name for itself since its arrival in 2017, with skincare formulas inspired by flowers. They actually have a whole garden of blooms in Osan, Seoul, where they cultivate and study the flowers, and incorporate them into the skincare products we see in Mamonde.

The Flower Lab Essence Mask series consist of 10 varieties which include jelly type texture, serum type texture and emulsion-like texture in the sheet masks, depending on what you choose.

- Hydrating (Narcissus) - serum type essence mask
- Brightening (Magnolia) - serum type essence mask
- Moisturizing (Rose) - serum type essence mask
- Antiaging (Camellia) - emulsion type essence mask
- Soothing (Calendula) - jelly type essence mask
- Nourishing (Evening Primrose) - emulsion type essence mask
- Lifting (Honeysuckle) - serum type essence mask
- Lively (Pomegranate) - serum type essence mask
- Deep moisturizing (Hibiscus) - emulsion type essence mask
- Pore care (Eoseongcho) - jelly type essence mask

Mamonde Flower Lab Essence Mask Essence Type

It is said that the jelly type essence would be gently absorbed into the skin and gives a soothing effect while the serum type essence would moisturize and keep your skin moist with fresh feeling and the emulsion type essence would give skin a shine with rich nutrition.

Mamonde Camellia Antiaging Flower Lab Essence Mask Material

Mamonde Camellia Antiaging Flower Lab Essence Mask is fully soaked in its emulsion type essence and gives off a powdery perfume smell. The thin material fits snugly with a slight gap between nose and cheeks and does not cover the undereye area fully.

During the 20 minute masking session, there was a slight tight sensation which I presume to be the firming effect although after removing the mask, I did not see any difference to my face shape but then I wasn't expecting much too. However, on another day when I use the mask, there was no such taut sensation. Note that I have 2 sheets which I used on different days.

DIY Beauty : Oatmeal Mask

How to use oatmeal as facial mask

Oatmeal is more than just a cereal that helps lower high cholesterol. Your skin will also enjoy a bowl of this nutritious grain as oatmeal contains avenanthramides, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds that soothe itchy, dry and irritated skin. It is also great for acne-prone skin because it absorbs oil from the skin’s surface. All of which makes oatmeal a perfect ingredient for facial masks.

Here are some fuss-free ways to incorporate oats into a DIY mask, at the comfort of your own home.

Milk and Oatmeal Face Mask

1) Mix 1 tablespoon whole rolled oats with 2 tablespoons milk
2) Stir until ingredients are smooth and even
3) Apply mixture to face, neck and decollete and let it sit for 20 minutes
4) Wash off with lukewarm water

Result : Exfoliate dead skin cells to reveal smoother and clearer skin which in turn provides bright, youthful and glowing skin.

My husband's hair has been getting slightly thinner in volume so we have been looking out for a hair loss shampoo. How To Tackle dark spots and uneven complexion in 4 weeks

How To Tackle dark spots and uneven complexion in 4 weeks

Plagued by dull skin and dark spots blossoming across your face? Welcome to the club. Most women (and men) experience hyper-pigmentation issues in Singapore, thanks to our intense, year-round equatorial sunshine.

Hyper-pigmentation is caused by an over production of melanin, the pigment in our skin that is produced by melanocytes deep in the skin’s dermis layer. Melanin is produced in part to protect our skin from sunburn, but an overdrive in melanin production results in uneven skin tone and the unsightly dark spots that are common on the highest points of the face, such as the cheeks and nose.

Concentrated patches of melanin can form underneath the skin’s surface for years before surfacing as dark spots. Once visible, it is not easy to eradicate except with the help of aesthetic treatments such as lasers and Intense Pulsed Light therapy, which is absorbed by melanin, triggering the gradual fragmentation of localised hyper-pigmentation.

However, consistent use of brightening skincare (and regular face treatments) can help even the dullest skin regain its even-toned radiance.

FOUR WEEKS TO GO: TRY LIGHT THERAPY

Continuous long-term use of a serum formulated with highly stabilised Vitamin C can help lighten localised spots while preventing worsening of hyper-pigmentation. Paired with weekly IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treatments, you are sure to see visible results in a month or two.

THREE WEEKS TO GO: ADD A BRIGHTENING SERUM TO YOUR REGIMEN

Vitamin C aside, there are a host of botanicals that have been proven to help lighten pre-existing pigmentation and, equally as important, to help control melanin over-production.

Look out for ingredients such as arbutin, niacinamide, mulberry extract and licorice, which are often found in whitening serums. Antioxidants also help to mop up free radicals before they trigger melanocytes to go into overdrive.

TWO WEEKS TO GO: UNMASK YOUR RADIANCE…WITH A MASK

We’re big fans of skin-brightening masks, especially if they are loaded with potent ingredients that can make our complexion sparkle like a Christmas tree bauble once we take them off.

Dry or dehydrated complexions also tend to look greyer and duller, due to the lack of moisture or a compromised skin barrier. Think of how light reflects off a smooth glossy surface like marble, versus a cracked, matte surface like concrete. Regular masking helps skin get re-hydrated and plumped for maximum sheen.

THE INSTANT FIX: FAKE THAT GLOW

We’re not talking about throwing on the disco-ball glitter. We’re talking about the subtle radiance-enhancing magic of illuminating, colour-correcting makeup that can help to convert mottled or simply dull skin to a flawless, glowy finish.

Review : Lucas Papaw Ointment

Lucas Papaw Ointment Review
Product Description
Lucas Papaw Ointment, made from fermented Australian papaw (papaya) is the best first-aid balm for you and family. With antibacterial and antimicrobial properties, this multiple-purpose healing topical balm is effective for relief of dry skin, abrasions, insect bites, minor burns, scrapes, bruises, chapped lip and more!

Lucas Papaw Ointment has a cult status worldwide and almost every Australian has one in their cupboard so when I was in Australia last year, I purchased a 25g tube. It was much cheaper than getting it in Singapore.

Developed in Brisbane by Dr. Thomas Lucas, a botanist and medical practitioner, who believed that papaw was the finest natural medicine ever discovered, the formula for Lucas Papaw Ointment is still the same since created over 100 years ago.

The ointment is said to have antibacterial and antimicrobial properties and can be used as a local topical application for minor burns and scalds, sunburn, gravel rash, cuts and minor open wounds, nappy rash and chafing, insect bites, splinters and thorns as well as temporary relief of dermatitis and eczema. And according to Trip Advisor, it is voted as the most popular lip balm in Trip Advisor Travellers' Choice Awards in 2014 and 2015.

Review : Derma Sukin Daily Hydrating Wash

Review for Derma Sukin Daily Hydrating Wash

Product Description
Derma Sukin Daily Hydrating Wash soothes and hydrates whilst cleansing. Paraben and sulphate free and designed to lock in moisture whilst cleansing. Soothing Aloe Vera and Calendula leave the skin feeling clean and refreshed, providing long, lasting hydration. Suitable for dry skin types especially extra sensitive.

I first came across Derma Sukin while checking out Sukin products in Chemist Warehouse Australia. DermaSukin is said to be laboratory tested and dermatologist certified as non-irritating and non-sensitizing on the skin, ensuring they are suitable and safe for use on dry, itchy and problem skin. They are fragrance free, and very different in consistency to the Sukin products as they are targeted towards problematic and condition-prone skin.

I was intrigued and promptly paid for a 500ml bottle of Derma Sukin Daily Hydrating Wash. Anything that is meant for sensitive skin is a winner for me. While I don't have very sensitive skin, but products that are gentle and soothing tend to attract me.

Presented in a pump bottle for easy use, this soap free wash uses ingredients calendula and aloe vera to deeply hydrate the skin and lock in moisture, ensuring that you're left feeling cleansed, soft and supple.

However, unfortunately, Derma Sukin Daily Hydrating Wash was a let-down. Despite it being touted as a body wash designed specifically for sensitive, dry skin type, it was slightly drying for my skin, since the first usage.

I used it twice a day, morning and night and every usage does left my skin feeling alittle taut. Its not very drying but you do feel that little drying sensation, the moment, you lather the body wash on your body. The foams are moderate and works fine for me, however, it is just not hydrating enough.

I wouldn't recommend it for very dry and sensitive skin but if you have normal skin, go ahead and try it as its pretty affordable and comes with a pump dispenser that is convenient in the bathroom.

Review : Banila Co Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm ( Original )

Banila Co Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm ( Original ) Review NEW FORMULA
Product Description
Banila Co Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm, the bestselling cleanser is in sherbet form when you scoop it, but melts into an oil-type makeup and residue remover as you massage it over your skin. Formulated with papaya, acerola and herbal extracts, it leaves your skin feeling nourished and supple. Follow with a water-based cleanser.

I am a fan of cleansing water, as a make-up remover, with my all-time favourite as Bioderma Sensibo H20 Micelle Solution, but when you know that a tub of This K-Beauty Cleansing Balm Is Sold Every 3 Seconds, its hard to say no, when you see it everywhere in Seoul.

It is also one of Amazon's Top Choice for Cleansing Balms and reminds me of the wonderful Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm which is one of my Top 22 Tried and Tested Products I Love in 2018.

This cult favourite has gone for an upgrade in appearance and ingredients and I am using the new version which I purchased in Seoul. Mineral Oil has now been replaced with natural Ester Oil, Butylated Hydroxytoluene is gone and skin-friendly Vitamin E acetate is in its place ( allowing this cleanser to be used on all skin types ) and Butyl Parahydroxybenzoate has been replaced with Phenoxyethanol. Read more about the ingredients nearer to the end of the post.

How to de-crease lines and wrinkles in 4 weeks

How to de-crease lines and wrinkles in 4 weeks

Fine lines due to dehydration on the skin's surface are pretty common once you hit your mid- to late-20s. The problem is, they can develop into deep-set wrinkles if you haven't started on a good skincare regimen to slow down the effects of the ageing process.

Expression lines, like marionette lines around the mouth and frown lines between the eyes – though slow in developing – can also add to your collection of lines. Once they are visible, these are almost impossible to erase, apart from a well-aimed Botox injection or fillers.

Four weeks is a short runway to achieving a smoother, less-lined complexion, but you should be able to see a visible reduction in the depth of lines and a more youthful visage.

FOUR WEEKS TO GO: START ON RETINOL AND VITAMIN C

The combo has been proven to help increase skin’s production of collagen fibres, which in turn leads to firmer, plumper and smoother skin.

THREE WEEKS TO GO: STRENGTHEN YOUR BARRIER

Skin lacking hydration and lipids tends to develop deep lines more quickly. Just think of mud that has been baking in the sun, forming cracks as it dries. To stave off more lines, keep your skin hydrated, nourished and ensure that your skin barrier is not compromised so it doesn’t lose precious moisture to the environment.

My Recommendation : Biotherm Aquasource Deep Serum, Biotherm Aquasource Gel, Biotherm Aquasource Everplump Moisturiser

My Reviews : Biotherm Aquasource Everplump Moisturiser

Shop : Biotherm Aquasource 48H Hydration Gel, Biotherm Aquasource Everplump, Biotherm Aquasource Everplump Sleeping Gel

TWO WEEKS TO GO: SPOT CORRECTION

With two weeks to go, it’s time to get harsh on wrinkles. Go for spot treatment with a specific wrinkle-correcting treatment or serum.

ONE WEEK TO GO: INSTANT FIX

Look out for make-up products that are hydrating and have a soft filter effect.

Review : Puru Puru Eye Sheet Mask

Puru Puru Eye Sheet Mask Review

Product Description
Puru Purur Eye Sheet Mask contains a blend of 3 types of collagen to moisturise the skin - Proteoglycan and Ceramide to firm and brighten the eye area and Argireline to smoothen out delicate undereye area

Made in Japan, Puru Puru Eye Sheet Mask pack contains 30 pairs of eye sheet masks in a resealable plastic packaging as shown above. Each eye sheet mask is stacked on top of each other and is an affordable alternative for daily use.

The crescent moon shape size is generous and cover all the way to the cheeks area. The material is thin and comfortable, does not tear easily and is able to adhere well on the undereye area without much slippage.

The whiff of alcohol is subtle but I will still prefer to do without it, if possible. Unfortunately, I don't see any difference to my undereye area, before or after usage, or over 1 week of daily usage.
