Dr.Althea’s Vitamin C Boosting Serum is a vegan, daily care vitamin C serum that helps to improve the skin tone and restore the skin’s natural glow. This serum is made of 20% Vita boosting complex which is a combination of 9 types of vitamins and Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit Extract, to deliver a high level of Vitamin C to the skin, without causing any irritation.

Benefits :
- Brightens and evens skin tone
- Reduces hyperpigmentation and dark spots
- Deeply hydrates the skin
- Provides antioxidant protection (with Vitamin C)

I received Dr. Althea Vitamin C Boosting Serum together with Green Relief Amino Gel Cleanser, Pure Grinding Cleansing Balm and 345 Relief Cream under the Try Me Review Me Stylekorean campaign.

My last brightening serums were Dear Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Charging Serum and Rovectin Vita Dark Spot Serum which I enjoyed using.

I had a good experience with Iunik Vitamin Hyaluronic Acid Vitalizing Toner which contains 5% Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruits Extract so I was looking forward to using this boosting serum with 15% Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruits Extract .

Performance and Ingredients

Dr.Althea Vitamin C Serum Review

Dr.Althea’s Vitamin C Boosting Serum contains Hyppophae Rhamnoides Fruit Extract which has more than 3.2 times the Vitamin C of lemons and also 45,000ppm of skin brightening ingredients (3-O_Ethylascorbic Acid, D-Panthenol, Niacinamide) to suppress melanin pigmentation and improve skin blemishes.

Containing EWG Green Grade Ingredients, this Vegan formulated product is safe to use on sensitive skin, without causing irritation.

It also contains 8 types of hyaluronic acid to charge the skin with moisture, without leaving any stickiness and helps to prevent wrinkles and improve the skin’s core strength. Vitamin C Boosting Serum also has soothing, elasticity and firming skin care properties thanks to Tocopherols and Allantonin, which are ingredients known to have anti-aging and collagen production effects, as well as cell regeneration properties.

This serum has undergone clinical tests and has been shown to improve pigmentation by 5.51% in 10 days but I didn't see much results after 10 days even after using it day and night, instead, it made my skin alittle sensitive whenever I used it in the daytime. My cheeks would turn red after a morning walk//jog whenever I wear the serum hence I prefer to use it at night.

I do like the lightweight texture, how gentle this serum is, without being greasy and pairs nicely with moisturisers although it has a hint of tackiness. Overall, my skin looked more even toned but the dark spots on my cheeks are still there.

The key ingredients are.....

20000ppm Niacinamide : Helps with brightening function of the skin and inhibits the melanin production, improves skin tone and elasticity.

15000ppm 3-0 Ethylascorbic Acid : An effective brightening agent that metabolizes in the body the same way as advanced Vitamin C. It helps to synthesize collagen and brightening. 15000ppm is equivalent to 1.5%.

Ethyl Ascorbic Acid or EAC for short is an "etherified derivative of ascorbic acid" that consists of vitamin C and an ethyl group bound to the third carbon position. This makes Vitamin C very stable and soluble in both water and oil. EAC seems to have both an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effect, and it's claimed to be able to boost the skin's collagen production. The strong point of EAC though is skin brightening. On top of manufacturer claims, there is also clinical in-vivo (tested on real people) data showing that 2% EAC can improve skin tone and whiten the skin.

15% Hippophae Rhamnoides Fruit : More than 200 times the vitamins found in apples, this ingredient suppresses active oxygen and has impressive antioxidant effects.
