[ Review ] : Pixi Peel & Polish Resurfacing Concentrate

Review of Pixi Peel and Polish
Product Description
This radiance revealing enzyme peel resurfaces for smoother, softer skin and a healthy looking glow.

I received a 15ml sample of Pixi Beauty Peel and Polish Resurfacing Concentrate after attending a Sephora event some time back. And of course, I was elated to try out the brand after hearing rave reviews of their products. You can check out my previous reviews on Pixi Glow Tonic Exfoliating Toner and Pixi Glow Mud Cleanser.

Packaging, Scent and Texture

Pixi Peel and Polish Resurfacing Concentrate comes in a 15ml pliable travel sized pink tube ( the retail size is 80ml ) with their distinctive scent which I can't describe in words. It is bearable and not offensive or overpowering but it took me awhile to get used to the scent. Some described it as a refreshing cucumber scent. You go decide, when you are at Sephora. :)

The texture has some nitty gritty granules in it and once massaged on skin, it turns into a milky white emulsion.

To be honest, I don't find the product gentle enough for 2.- 3 usages ( recommended on the packaging ) in a week, especially for fragile, sensitive and dry skin. While I have combination skin with surface dehydration, I tend to only use it once a week, coupled with other exfoliating clay products which can be drying too.

How To Use

•Use: In the AM and or PM 2-3 times per week
•Step 1: Apply to dry face and neck
•Step 2: Leave for 2 min to let the enzymes activate
•Step 3: Rinse off and pat dry
•Step 4: For a more intense polish effect using your fingertips, gently massage face and neck in a circular motion

Performance and Ingredients

As mentioned, I only use Pixi Peel and Polish once a week but even then, it does cause the broken capillaries on the sides of my nose to become red and warm. When that happened, Thank You Farmer Back To Relax Soothing Gel Mask comes to the rescue which toned down the redness considerably.

Thereafter, so long I avoid using the product on the broken capillaries, it can actually be a mean one, to clear dead cells and make my skin cleaner, brighter and smoother with smaller pores too.

It is recommended to use on dry skin but I found it to be too harsh on my skin so I prefer to use on damp skin which works similarly well, if not better. My skin felt smoother when its used on wet skin than on dry skin.

Do note that Pixi Peel and Polish Resurfacing Concentrate is not a face scrub, it is an enzyme peel, using natural fruit enzymes to loosen dead skins cells as well as lactic acid to gently exfoliates, while cellulose peels and sugar extracts polishes, lifting away dullness revealing brighter skin. Almost like having a professional salon peel treatment without leaving home.

Enzymes are natural protein catalysts that speed up chemical reactions. An enzyme peel, gentler than a chemical peel, speeds up skin exfoliation. It can help to diminish scarring and age spots, as well as cleanses pores and improves skin texture.

In terms of ingredients, the product uses Lactic Acid to exfoliate and clarify, Papaya Fruit Extract to improve skin texture and Sugar Cane Extract to reveal skin's natural glow

Conclusion

To conclude, I don't dislike the product but I also don't like it enough to get it, because it irritates the broken capillaries on the sides of my nose and it isn't pleasant. Granted, I can avoid it but I don't wish to buy a product which I have to be careful, when there are so many products in the market, surely there must be one that is suitable for me.

Pixi Peel and Polish would be great for those new to enzyme peel because they are readily available and affordable as well as those who do not have sensitive, dry or delicate skin.

The product has a mixed review with a score of 3.4 from 8 users on Makeupalley.
