Perfect for on-the-go touch-ups, this sun stick makes sun care effortless so you can stay protected anytime, anywhere.
Sunscreen sticks have become a must-have for convenient, mess-free UV protection especially for quick reapplication throughout the day for some users. When I first received this sun stick as part of a gifted StyleKorean collaboration, I had already heard quite a bit about its oily finish.
Still, as someone who’s always on the lookout for easy-to-use SPF products, I was curious to see how it would perform on my skin and whether it could balance convenience with comfort.
Packaging, Scent and Texture
What sets the Abib Quick Sunstick SPF50+ PA++++ apart is its uniquely designed C-shaped curved surface, which glides effortlessly across wider areas of the face and body. This design helps ensure even sunscreen application in just a few swipes, making it especially convenient for on-the-go reapplication even over makeup without disrupting your base.
The sun stick comes in a 22g format with a user-friendly twist dial, similar to a lip balm, allowing you to dispense just the right amount of product with ease. It also has a very subtle scent that is barely noticeable, making it suitable for those who prefer fragrance-light skincare.
In terms of texture, the formula feels smooth and balm-like, gliding effortlessly easily across the skin without tugging. It leaves behind a noticeable layer that leans toward a dewy, slightly oily finish.
How To Use :
1) Apply 15 mins before sun exposure
2) Twist the the lower dial base for 5mm content
3) Apply onto face from center to outer gently
4) Reapplying every 2 hours is crucial
Tip : Limit time in the sun, especially from 10am-2pm
Performance and Ingredients
Formulated with skin-supporting ingredients like acacia peptide and ceramide, this sunscreen stick helps strengthen the skin barrier while ÕºÕ¡Õ·Õ¿ÕºÕ¡Õ¶ing against harmful UV rays. It also features hydrating botanical extracts such as aloe, cucumber, and green tea, which work to keep the skin moisturized, soothed, and comfortably dewy throughout the day making it appealing for those looking for a hydrating sunscreen stick.
That said, the performance really depends on your skin type. From the very first swipe, the finish already hints at a slick, oily texture and it fully delivers on that. On my combination skin, it felt quite greasy and left a noticeable shine that didn’t really settle over time. While I could mattify it with my RMS Beauty Un-Powder, the overall finish wasn’t something I enjoyed wearing on my face for daily use.
I didn't use it over makeup so I cannot attest how well it works. Generally, I don't like applying products on a dirty face hence I prefer to use sun stick as a base like a primer, before my regular sunscreen. After each use, I will wipe off the top for hygiene.
However, it performed much better when I switched to using it on my arms. The curved stick design makes application over larger surface areas incredibly quick and effortless, allowing the product to glide smoothly across the skin. In fact, I found myself going through the stick quite quickly because of how easy it was to apply generously. One thing to note is that the center of the stick tends to wear down faster than the sides due to the curved shape, which affects how evenly the product is used over time.
The key ingredients are....
Aloe Vera : Deep Moisturizing
Centella Asiatica : Soothing and moisturizing
Camellia Sinensis Leaf : Reduce redness and irritation
The 5 UV filters are...
Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate : Often listed on sunscreen products as Octinoxate, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate (also called Octyl Methoxycinnamate) is used in products that are applied to the skin to absorb, reflect or scatter UV rays; it protects the skin from sunburn and other damaging effects of the sun. Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate also protects cosmetics and personal care products from deterioration caused by UV rays and allows them to last longer in high UV conditions.
Ethylhexyl Salicylate 4.5% : Also known as Ethylhexyl Salicylate or Octisalate, this is an organic compound used as an ingredient in sunscreens and cosmetics to absorb UVB (ultraviolet) rays from the sun. Although the Cosmetics Ingredient Review notes that reproductive and developmental toxicity can occur in relation to Salicylic Acid, one of the two primary components of Ethylhexyl Salicylate, it has determined that the levels used in cosmetic and beauty products would not cause any adverse reaction. Importantly, the FDA has approved Ethylhexyl Salicylate for use in sunscreen with up to 5% concentration. Ethylhexyl Salicylate receives an EWG hazard rating of 4.
Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate : A new generation, chemical sunscreen agent with high UVA protection and high photostability. Also known as Uvinul A Plus.
Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine : A broad-spectrum ( full UVA and UVB protection ) chemical sunscreen agent which is also known as Tinosorb S. Hardly deteriorates in the presence of UV.
Octocrylene 5% : It protects the skin against short UVA and long UVB rays, however from a research study, Octocrylene appears to be a strong allergen leading to contact dermatitis in children and mostly photoallergic contact dermatitis in adults with an often-associated history of photoallergy from ketoprofen.
Octyldodecanol, Butylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Dibutyl Ethylhexanoyl Glutamide, Dibutyl Lauroyl Glutamide, Diisostearyl Malate, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate, Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine, Dextrin Palmitate, Octocrylene, Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein , Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Water, Butylene Glycol, Saccharide Isomerate, Glycerin, Maltodextrin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Ethyl Hexanediol, Ceramide NP, Citric Acid, Sodium Citrate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Phenoxyethanol
Conclusion
To conclude, Abib Quick Sunstick SPF50+ PA++++ stands out for its convenient, mess-free application and thoughtfully designed curved shape, making it ideal for quick sunscreen reapplication on the go. Its hydrating formula, enriched with ceramides, acacia peptide, and soothing botanical extracts, glides effortlessly (like butter) on skin and adds an extra layer of skincare benefits while delivering high UV protection.
However, the noticeably oily and glossy finish may not suit those with combination to oily skin, especially for facial use. While it can be set with powder, the texture may feel too heavy for daily wear on the face.
That said, this sun stick truly shines when used on the body. Its smooth glide and wide coverage make it perfect for areas like the arms, where quick and even application is key.
Best for: Dry skin types, on-the-go reapplication, and body use
May not suit: Combination to oily skin for facial application
