[ Review ] Grown Alchemist Age-Repair Gel Masque

Grown Alchemist Age-Repair Gel Masque Pomegranate Extract, Peptide Complex is a lightweight Peptide-rich gel masque that is highly effective in combating signs of aging and increasing skin elasticity while hydrating, firming and nourishing facial skin. Formulated with gentle cooling actives, this masque is perfect for sensitive facial skin.

On a quest to add in more peptides into my skincare routine, I purchased Grown Alchemist Age-Repair Gel Masque together with my all-time favourite cleanser - Grown Alchemist Hydra Restore Cream Cleanser some time back. 

Peptides are the foundations of our skin and are responsible for its texture, strength and resilience. Without peptides, our skin is less intact which can lead to a loss of firmness, the appearance of wrinkles, a change in texture and less 'bounce'.

Grown Alchemist Age-Repair Gel Masque is a 75ml tube of rinse-off masque with a flick-top cap. It has a lovely sweet calming scent with a lumpy-like gel-cream texture that applies with a minty cooling sensation that lasted as long as its on the skin. 

How To Use :

1) Apply a generous amount to clean facial skin including the eye contour. 

2) Allow active ingredients to absorb into facial skin for 10-15 minutes. 

3) Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. 

Note : Use AM or PM. Suitable for all skin types.

Performance and Ingredients

Australian made and 100% vegan, Grown Alchemist Age-Repair Gel Masque contains certified organic ingredients and is cruelty-free and toxin-free. It is free of Petrochemicals, Nitrosamine Releasers, DEAs, TEAs, Parabens, Sodium Lauryl Sulphate, Paraffins, artificial colours and fragrances. 

Target signs of ageing with Grown Alchemist’s lightweight gel masque, designed to promote a hydrated, firmer-looking surface. It can be used on sensitive skin types and has a cooling, soothing effect thanks to added actives.

It’s made using Polysaccharide complex active ingredients and Peptides to support normal collagen and reduce the appearance of fine lines. It also promotes a more even tone, enhancing natural radiance while Hyaluronic Acid locks in moisture for a softer, smoother finish.

Finally, polyphenol-rich Pomegranate helps to minimise the look of oxidative damage.

This is an easy-to-use rinse-off mask which glides on well, goes on smooth and dries down gradually. It contains cooling, refreshing and calming properties that helped to soothe and minimize redness and irritation. 

The effectiveness was proven on a day when I experienced random red scaly patches on my right cheek and beside the nose and after 15 minutes of masking, the patch was greatly soothed and much hydrated. 

May and June are the hottest months in Singapore and I appreciate slathering this masque on my skin for that oh-so-cooling sensation.

I also like that the mask can be used both on the face and eye area so it can double up as an eye mask too.

That said, I haven't noticed a significant difference in the firming effects on my face. Adding on, its not the easiest to rinse off due to the gloopy-like texture so more water was required for a clean rinse, hence I prefer to use it as an in-shower routine for an easier wash.

Conclusion 

To conclude, Grown Alchemist Age-Repair Gel Masque was a nice rinse-off mask, with promising ingredients. While I haven't experienced any anti-aging effects to date, it did provide an instantaneous soothing and hydrating effect when my skin acts up. Definitely a reliable mask on emergency days.

[ Review ] Grown Alchemist Body Cleanser

Grown Alchemist Body Cleanser is a sensuous aromatic, gentle body gel for all skin types. Leaves skin thoroughly clean, refreshed and toned without causing dryness. Does not contain Lauryl Sulphates,

I have a soft spot for Grown Alchemist although not every product suits me, with my holy grail being the cream cleanser. Grown Alchemist Body Cleanser was my latest purchase and it looked so luxe in my bathroom. 

Packaging, Scent and Texture

The Body Cleanser is housed in a 300ml pump bottle with its signature apothecary vibe. A larger size of 500ml is also available for purchase. I love the uplifting scent which is like a mixture of Neroli and Rosemary essential oils while the slippery gel contents felt lightweight on the skin.

How To Use : 

1) Dispense directly onto your hands or a damp sea sponge and massage over wet skin whilst under the shower. 

2) Rinse thoroughly. 

3) For a relaxing bath, pump a teaspoon of product into running water, soak and enjoy. 

Note : Caution avoid contact with eyes. If contact with eyes occurs, rinse well with warm water.

Performance and Ingredients

Grown Alchemist Body Cleanser is said to cleanse and condition skin without stripping, help prevent the appearance of blemishes, drying and flaking and visibly improves skin elasticity. It is Vegan, Cruelty-free & Gluten-free.

The uplifting scent was a joy while the gel-like body cleanser lathers moderately well with very light suds for a gentle cleansing. That said, this isn't for those who likes loads of foaming action as there's not much foam. 

Unfortunately, there was a subtle drying feel and although it isn't a major issue but for the price paid, I would expect it to be more moisturising.

Conclusion

To conclude, Grown Alchemist Body Cleanser is a nice-to-have body wash which is beautiful in looks and uplifting in scent. Unfortunately, it was slightly drying and although its not a major issue, with body lotion added as part of a body care routine, it isn't something I prefer, especially for the price paid. Not a repurchase!

My all-time favourite body washes are Dr. Seed Honey & Bomb Moisture Body Wash and Moo Goo Milk Wash.

Grown Alchemist Hydra-Mist+ comes in  a 30ml mist spray that is travel-friendly and easy to use. It has a soothing scent which I adore and the mist comes out fine and just right for the face, without the drenching messiness. 

How To Use :

Apply a fine mist onto face and décolletage until the skin is lightly damp and allow it to dry. Use in the morning following cleansing and before moisturizing or during the day over make-up for instant hydration. 

Tip : Perfect for use during long periods of exposure to air-conditioned environments or when traveling in-flight as a hydration-boosting treatment.

Performance and Ingredients 

Made with powerful peptides, hyaluronic acid, and antioxidants, this Grown Alchemist Hydra-Mist+ ( Desert Lime, Amino-Peptide ) is said to moisturize, soothe, soften and plump skin, leaving a gorgeous glow. It can be used under or over makeup— just leave it on the desk or counter and spritz as often as you like.

Other than loving the soothing scent and the fine mist, I also loved how hydrating and comforting this mist was. It is a great pick-me-up on tired days, uplifting during mornings, hydrating during dehydrated skin days and comforting on sensitive skin. 

That said, it isn't an emergency pick-me-up product which can make all your skin woes disappear, but it has a feel-good factor that makes you just want to use it. And nearing the last 10% of contents, it was difficult to mist properly as the nozzle doesn't pick up enough contents so just pour out and tap the toner all over the skin. 

In terms of ingredients, Grown Alchemist Hydra-Mist+ ( Desert Lime, Amino-Peptide ) contains the following....

Hyaluronan, Desert Lime and Kelp Extracts : Provide anti-aging Flavonoids and antioxidants while providing lasting hydration.

Hibiscus and Olive Leaf: Extracts : Rich in antioxidants, moisturize, balance and noticeably soften and smooth facial skin.

Pomegranate and Bilberry Leaf Extracts : Visibly calm and soothe the skin.

Sodium PCA and Amino Acids in the form of a wheat-derived Protein Peptide, along with antioxidants from Bilberry Leaf Extract : Provide visible improvement against environmental and oxidative damage; while noticeably providing anti-aging benefits.

Conclusion

In conclusion, if you adore facial mists, Grown Alchemist Hydra-Mist+ ( Desert Lime, Amino-Peptide ) is worth a consideration for its hydrating and anti-aging benefits with its lovely soothing scent. However, its only available in 30ml size which depletes quite fast if you use it everyday and the price is not exactly cheap. 

It won't be a repurchase for me as there are many inexpensive hydrating mists out there and I think its difficult to judge anti-aging benefits from cleansers and facial mists in general.

[ Review ] : Grown Alchemist Gentle Gel Facial Cleanser

This delicate blend of botanical extracts gently removes impurities from sensitive facial skin without stripping, allowing skin to breathe freely leaving skin thoroughly cleansed, calm and soothed.

With the last purchase of my favourite cleanser, Grown Alchemist Hydra-Restore Cream Cleanser Olive Oil and Plantago Extract and a mist toner, I was able to choose a free gift and I chose a travel-sized Grown Alchemist Gentle Gel Facial Cleanser from the limited choices available.

Packaging, Scent and Texture

The complimentary Grown Alchemist Gentle Gel Facial Cleanser that comes with my purchases is a travel sized version that is housed in a similar black opaque bottle with 50 ml contents. However, instead of a pump dispenser, the travel size version has a flip top cap which is understandable.

I adored the uplifting scent which makes cleansing such an enjoyable experience. The texture is runny, lightweight and seems mild and gentle but isn't a gel as claimed. There were some light suds during lathering which I feared that the cleanser may be drying for my skin.

Performance and Ingredients

In terms of performance and effectiveness, skin is left clean, smooth and very soft but thereafter, the taut sensation appeared several minutes later after cleansing which isn't a good sign. This usually meant that the cleanser is not suitable for me as its drying for my combination with surface dehydration.

Conclusion 

To conclude, Grown Alchemist Gentle Gel Facial Cleanser isn't as gentle as it claims to be, at least for my skin type. The taut sensation after cleansing was a deal-breaker for me, so I won't be purchasing this cleanser.

If you are looking for a nourishing cleanser suitable for dehydrated and sensitive skin, then check out Grown Alchemist Hydra-Restore Cream Cleanser Olive Oil and Plantago Extract which I have gone through 4 tubes with another 2 tubes as backup.

Review : Grown Alchemist Polishing Facial Exfoliant ( Pink Grapefruit & Glucomannan Extract )

The sample size enabled me to use it for about 5 times, which lasted me for about 2.5 weeks, with twice weekly usage. 

Review : Grown Alchemist Hydra-Repair Day Cream Camellia & Geranium

As the last product in my daytime skincare regime, Grown Alchemist Hydra-Repair Day Cream with Camellia and Geranium serves as the last step to seal in the goodness of the serums prior to the day cream application as well as an added hydration to the skin.

According to the promoter, it can be used on its own, or layered after the Grown Alchemist Detox Serum Antioxidant+3 Complex.

Product Description
This lightweight, oil-free instant absorbing serum is recommended for daily use to detoxify the skin of not only traditionally targeted oxygen free radicals but also carbon and nitrogen free radicals.

Active Ingredients :
Tri-peptides and complex antioxidants targeting oxygen, carbon and nitrogen free radicals combine leaving the skin hydrated and looking radiant and healthy

As part of the Grown Alchemist prescription set, the Detox Serum Antioxidant+3 Complex goes on to the skin after the toner and I really love all the products I have tried so far, from the brand. I get such immense joy from trying new brands and products that truly work and I will wonder, what took me so long? The only downside is, it is not available in Singapore.

Grown Alchemist Balancing Toner with Rose, Ginseng and Chamomile was a toner that comes highly recommended by the Grown Alchemist promoter in Australia back in April. According to her, the toner is good, effective and affordable, at AUD29.95.
