Mad Hippie Eye Cream Review
Product Description
It is often said that the eyes are the windows to the soul...unfortunately, they are also the first area to really show our age. From the dreaded crows feet to those tiring bags under the eyes, uniting the power of peptides and antioxidants, Mad Hippie Eye Cream packs a punch. It helps to minimize the appearance of wrinkles and discolouration and reveal softer, younger-looking skin.

I have been wanting to try Mad Hippie products for awhile so when my last eye cream ran out, I promptly purchased Mad Hippie Eye Cream because of the rave reviews on Iherb and Amazon

Made in USA, Mad Hippie is driven by a passion for simplicity, clean ingredients and a desire to create naturally-based, effective skincare. Their products do not contain parabens, synthetic fragrance, dyes, petrochemicals, PEGs and SLS. It is vegan and cruelty-free.

Packaging, Scent and Texture

Mad Hippie Eye Cream comes in a 15ml opaque plastic bottle with an airless pump. The coloured illustrations gave a colourful and cheerful vibe to it. Upon first use, I do found the floral fragrance to be rather strong and lingered for awhile which I prefer to do without, however, with time, I got used to it. White and lightweight lotion-creamy in texture, it glides well on skin.

How To Use :
Gently massage this nourishing blend into the skin beside and below the eyes twice daily.

Performance and Ingredients

Mad Hippie Eye Cream has received raving reviews both on Iherb and Amazon so it did raise up my expectations. Finally, I might have an eye cream that works!

The fragrance was pretty strong and it really took me some time to get used to it. The lotion-creamy texture was lightweight and absorbed into skin fast and well. It hydrates well and the undereye area was smooth after application. However, despite using it regularly and emptying it in 6 months, the eye cream did not yield any long term results for me.

Adding on, each pump always dispenses more contents than needed which was a waste as unlike serums and moisturizers, I don't slather more than necessary with the fear of milia seeds around the eyes. That said, I do use the "extras" on my neck to avoid wastage.

My pet peeve was that, I can't tell when my product was depleting so I was caught off-guard when one day, the pump dispenser couldn't dispense any more eye cream. There was no warning at all and just like that, I have emptied the bottle and I didn't have time to take some texture shots of it. Oops!

Just to confirm if its empty, I removed the pump and several parts and viola, it was really clean and empty without a drop in it.

For the uninitiated, an airless pump bottle is a non-pressurized vacuum dispensing system that utilizes a mechanical pump in a bottle. As you push down on the pump, the disc in the bottle rises to push the product out of the pump. Once the bottle is filled, the material stored inside the bottle is preserved and maintain its integrity until used up.

Airless packaging will help increase the shelf life of the final product. With the airless bottles, the material inside the bottles will be able to dispense completely, which will not require the opening of the pump and therefore, the integrity of the content can remain stable throughout its use.

Hence, despite the surprise of not knowing when the product would deplete, I do appreciate the airless pump for ingredients stability.

Mad Hippie Eye Cream scored 3.2 from 23 users on Makeupalley with pretty mixed reviews.

In terms of ingredients, I really do like the ingredient list as its filled with good stuff and is promising. It contains 14 actives with known antioxidants and skin rejuvenating properties which include peptides, ceramides, pomegranate and white tea.

Peptides are short strings of amino acids that help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and undereye discolouration.

The key ingredients are....

Matrixyl Synthe '6 : Advanced peptide with skin rejuvenating benefits.
Regu-age : Peptide complex designed to address many of the esthetic issues related to the skin directly around the eyes.

Hesperidin : A plant flavonoid that has been shown to reduce the appearance of under eye discoloration.
Kakadu Plum : Works to brighten the appearance of skin discoloration.
Licorice Extract : Rich in flavonoids, this skin nourishing ingredient also reduces the appearance of discoloration.
Pomegranate : Potent antioxidant that is a high source of ellagic acid.
Vitamin C : A powerful antioxidant to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and discoloration.

Conclusion

To conclude, Mad Hippie Eye Cream hydrates well and smoothens the undereye skin. It contains great ingredients but unfortunately, I did not see any long term results from using the eye cream for the past 6 months hence it won't be a repurchase for me.

That said, it garnered high reviews from both Iherb and Amazon so the eye cream may just work for you.

Do note that, at the point of writing this post, there is now an updated formula with more hydration and more actives.
