Eye creams are often marketed as the secret weapon for brighter, smoother, and younger-looking eyes. With lightweight textures, luxurious packaging, and targeted ingredients like caffeine, peptides, and retinol, eye creams are designed to address the delicate skin around the eyes, an area said to show signs of fatigue and aging the fastest.

Yet despite the endless options available, eye cream remains one of the most debated skincare categories. Some swear by their holy grail formulas, while others question whether eye creams truly deliver results beyond what a regular moisturizer can do. 

Personally, eye cream has been a disappointing category for me. After trying various formulas over the years, I have yet to come across one that feels genuinely effective enough to justify the hype or price tag. While some offer temporary hydration or a smoother appearance, none have significantly improved my dark circles, puffiness, or fine lines in a lasting way. Still, that has not stopped me from remaining curious about eye creams and trying promising ones.

I just emptied Dermalogica Invisible Physical Defense SPF 30 and Dermalogica Skin Perfect Primer SPF30 not too long ago and decided to try this sample sized Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Firm Eye Cream which I received from my regular facial salon.

If you’re starting to notice fine lines, puffiness, or that lingering tired look around your eyes, you’re not alone. The eye area is one of the first places to show signs of aging mainly because the skin here is thinner, more delicate, and more prone to dehydration. That’s where a good eye cream becomes essential.

In the world of skincare, eye creams play a targeted role: they deliver concentrated ingredients to help smooth wrinkles, brighten dark circles, reduce puffiness, and maintain firmness. After emptying Mary & May Tranexamic Acid + Glutathione Eye Cream, it was time to start using Filorga Intensive Revitalizing 3-in-1 Eye Contour Cream. 

It was my first foray into Filorga, a French skincare brand known for merging aesthetic medicine with advanced skincare science. Originally developed by a doctor specializing in anti-aging injectables, Filorga brings clinic-inspired formulas into everyday routines—infused with potent actives like hyaluronic acid, NCEF complex, peptides, and antioxidants.

Aiming for optimal results, mixsoon carefully selects its ingredients to include only the essentials. All products of mixsoon, including its hair and body care lines, are plant-based, cruelty-free and made in Korea.

The skin around our eyes is thinner, more delicate, and prone to dryness compared to the rest of the face. It’s also where fine lines, puffiness, and dark circles tend to show up first. A good eye cream helps hydrate, brighten, and protect this fragile area, keeping it smooth and refreshed.

I first tried out Be The Skin Sebum Zero Aloerice Sun Cream last year and glad to have a chance to try their eye cream this year. 

Despite what others may say, I feel that eye creams are important for maintaining the health and appearance of the delicate skin around the eyes, as the skin around the eyes is thinner and more delicate than the rest of the face, making it more susceptible to damage and showing signs of aging.

A good and effective eye cream with the right ingredients offers targeted hydration, anti-aging benefits, and protection from environmental damage.

Be The Skin Vitavita Circle Zero Eye Cream is a 30g tube product with a pointed tip dispenser. The white cream is lightweight with a velvety texture and a citrus fragrance.

[ Review ] Tocobo Collagen Brightening Eye Gel Cream

 

Product Description

Reverse signs of aging around the eye area with Tocobo Collagen Brightening Eye Gel Cream enriched with 81% lavender flower water. It’s infused with retinol and 1,000ppm of plant-based collagen to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, as well as 1,000ppm of panthenol to replenish moisture in skin.

Thanks to a Stylekorean collaboration which has given me a chance to try out another Tocobo product, after emptying Tocobo Bio Watery Sun Cream SPF50+ PA++++ and Tocobo Cotton Soft Sun Stick. 

I don't have much luck with eye creams in general but I will still continue to use them, as my undereye area really do deserve some tender loving care. 

Packaging, Scent and Texture

Tocobo Collagen Brightening Eye Gel Cream is packaged in a charming pink and purple clear tube with 30ml contents that can be dispensed easily via the solid nozzle dispenser. It has one of the lightest texture I have ever tried, with a strong lavender fragrance and a hint of tackiness as well as some sparkles in it.

Product Description

I received a set of eye creams as part of a Stylekorean Try Me Review Me campaign mid last year and Heimish Marine Care Eye Cream was one of my favourites during the testing period. Unfortunately, I realized it didn't suit me with longer term use. Let delve down why.

Dear Klairs Fundamental Eye Awakening Gel is housed in a 35ml clear bottle with a press-down dispenser. Clear in colour with a refreshing lightweight gel texture, it has a subtle tackiness and takes about 5-10 minutes before it absorbed into skin. There was no fragrance detected but has a naturally occurring scent.

After seeing Yours Skincare all over Instagram, no thanks to influencer marketing, I was intrigued and ended up purchasing Eye Love You and Sunny Side Up SPF 30 Mist. There were no free samples when I purchased it direct from their website but judging from feedback, it seems that you will get free samples if you order from Shopee. 

The branding was on-point and the packaging looked beautiful but the service fell short of being fantastic. 

The order took longer than expected and I had to follow up with them. They tried to be sincere in their apology for the delay by offering a discount on their products, but I thought it was unnecessary because my order had not arrived and I had not tried the products yet, so why would you ask me to spend again?
