[ Review ] : Atopalm MLE Cream

Atopalm MLE Cream Review

Product Description
Atopalm MLE Cream is an unique, paraben free formula which contains plant derived ingredients, mimics the structure of the natural skin lipids and aids in the replenishment of the loss of natural skin lipids. The cream helps to boost the skin's barrier function while protecting it from environmental stresses, leaving the skin feeling soft and supple.

Benefits:
- Repairs the skin after treatments such as microdermabrasion.
- Helps to seal in skin moisture to prevent dehydration.
- Formula is non-greasy and easily absorbed. Patented technology.

I received a 8ml sample of Atopalm MLE Cream that comes with the Atopalm Soothing Gel Lotion some time back and loved it enough to share my review on the blog.

ATOPALM is the first K-Beauty skin care brand to originate in Korea that blends cutting edge Korean skin barrier science with biotech advances focused on caring for very dry and sensitive skin types.

MLE (Multi-Lamellar Emulsion) formula is the Maltese skin barrier formula in the world that contains the exact bio-identical skin barrier structure of a healthy skin so that it “tricks” the compromised skin barrier into readily accepting and incorporating the healthy skin structure into itself. The MLE formula fills in the vulnerable areas of the skin barrier, reinforcing them to enable skin to draw in hydration and hold it for longer periods

MLE is NeoPharm's ( manufacturer ) internationally patented skin barrier technology that provides protection, rich moisture and enhances the skin barrier of dry and sensitive skin.

Packaging, Scent and Texture

Atopalm MLE Cream Texture

Atopalm MLE Cream comes in a round tub with a light fragrance that is naturally derived. It has a creamy white texture with a cooling sensation that soothe itchy skin, glides well and absorbed into skin within a short while.

How To Use :
1) After showering or just washing the face, pat skin dry.
2) With fingertips, apply all over the face and neck with a gentle upward motion.

note : Can be used all over the body, arms, legs or wherever extra dry areas are in need of additional moisture.

tip : to keep skin softer and more moist, apply Atopalm MLE Cream after Atoplam MLE Lotion on dry and sensitive areas.

Performance and Ingredients

Atopalm MLE Cream is clinically tested and contains patented MLE skin barrier protection and Ceramide-9S ™ to strengthen and maintain moisture. It also helps calm skin sensitivity, the over evaporation of natural moisture and protects from the stresses of the environment.

Fortified with vegetable seed oils, Grape, Safflower, Sunflower, Jojoba and Green Tea Seed Oil which act as anti-oxidants for extra protection as well as Allantoin for soothing skin. It is also said to contain 48 hours of lasting skin moisturizing effect.

I get random eczema patches occasionally and Atopalm MLE Cream comes to the rescue by soothing and nourishing dry and itchy skin. It is moisturizing without being greasy and minimizes the itchiness instantly.

However, I have to add on, it doesn't work every time but it does work 80% of the time so that is good enough for me.

Conclusion

To conclude, Atopalm MLE Cream is a lovely cream that is worth to keep in your arsenal for itchy, irritated skin days. It is also suitable for dry and sensitive skin  as it helps to improve and enhance skin barrier. The texture may appear rich but its not greasy and is able to provide that moisturizing effect. However, it doesn't work all the time, probably only about 80% of the time.

Check out this research study on how MLE Cream has effectively lowered transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and increased stratum hydration (SC) after 2 and 4 weeks.

Review : Lucas Papaw Ointment

Lucas Papaw Ointment Review
Product Description
Lucas Papaw Ointment, made from fermented Australian papaw (papaya) is the best first-aid balm for you and family. With antibacterial and antimicrobial properties, this multiple-purpose healing topical balm is effective for relief of dry skin, abrasions, insect bites, minor burns, scrapes, bruises, chapped lip and more!

Lucas Papaw Ointment has a cult status worldwide and almost every Australian has one in their cupboard so when I was in Australia last year, I purchased a 25g tube. It was much cheaper than getting it in Singapore.

Developed in Brisbane by Dr. Thomas Lucas, a botanist and medical practitioner, who believed that papaw was the finest natural medicine ever discovered, the formula for Lucas Papaw Ointment is still the same since created over 100 years ago.

The ointment is said to have antibacterial and antimicrobial properties and can be used as a local topical application for minor burns and scalds, sunburn, gravel rash, cuts and minor open wounds, nappy rash and chafing, insect bites, splinters and thorns as well as temporary relief of dermatitis and eczema. And according to Trip Advisor, it is voted as the most popular lip balm in Trip Advisor Travellers' Choice Awards in 2014 and 2015.

Review : Wiseways All Heal Salve

Product Description
A soothing, natural first aid salve for minor cuts, burns, dry spots, scrapes, and diaper areas. Can be used as a healing nipple cream. Great for pets or horses too!
This is my 2nd tub of Wiseways All Heal Salve which is pretty awesome to have it around in the household. A pity that its only available in a 7.1g size in Iherb which meant that it get used up pretty fast. S$5.60 at 7.1g is not exactly an economical price for that tiny pot.

The tiny pot packs a punch in a glass bottle, with a black plastic cap. Unscrew the cap and you will see light yellow contents with a salve texture which meant greasy and sticky stuff.

I use the All Heal Salve on mosquito bites which works 90% of the time, easing the itch and the red bump disappears after awhile. I also use it on scrapes, in the hope that the wounds will get healed faster, although when it eventually does, I am not sure if its due to time, or truly due to the All Heal Salve.

I normally ignore tiny cuts, prefer to let it heal by itself so I have yet to use the salve on them. I tried using it on eczema itches but it only ease them for a short while before the itch came back again.
I treat it as a soothing balm for abrasions and rashes as well and I feel that it helps to ease the itch commonly associated with red rashes on my skin. At the same time, I was also hoping my scars can be reduced, after using the balm but so far, I have not seen a spectacular difference.

I get bites pretty often as compared to the rest in my household, so I always have such balms and potions and repellents around. For now, Wiseways All Heal Salve works pretty well on my scrapes ,bites and rashes so I will continue to buy it often.

You can get it from Iherb, where first time customer is entitled to US$5 off their first order. Use my code OKI787 so that Iherb can also reward me with a US$5 for a new customer referral.

Ingredients :
Olive Oil Extracts of Organic Comfrey, Chickweed and Plantain Leaves, Burdock Root, Calendula, Echinacea and St. Johnswort Flowers, Beeswax, Self Heal Flower Essence and Eilat Gem Essence.

Review : MooGoo Soothing MSM Cream

Product Description
This cream is made using the moisturizing base of our Full Cream with the addition 10% MSM (Organic Sulfur) and the removal of Milk Protein. This is the maximum amount of MSM we could add to the cream. Just mention MSM and watch the Naturopaths go nuts about its skin calming properties. The cream uses Sweet Almond Oil which is one of the best moisturising oils for irritated skin due to its essential fatty acid profile. The cream is also fully loaded with other natural skin healing ingredients. These include Allantoin (Comfrey Root Active), Vitamin E, Aloe Vera and Honey. Paraffin Oil Free. pH Balanced.

Key Ingredients :
Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil : High in the types of fatty acids needed for troubled skin.
Squalene (Olive) : Leave your skin moisturised and dewy. Our body produces a small amount of squalene, but the amount diminishes when we get older, starting in our twenties. Squalene is required for our skin to keep it moisturised and fight aging. It is also a unique antioxidant from olives that protects our skin from free-radical damages. Since Olive squalene's composition is very similar to human sebum, it can penetrate our skin very quickly to help our skin to fight dryness. It enhances skin elasticity and moisture retention.
Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil : We used coconut oil as a stabiliser, it also helps to moisturise the skin

Made in Australia, The packaging of MooGoo first draws me in, when I was shopping at 10 10 Mother and Child Essentials in City Square Mall. The illustration is cute and the whole exterior gives a calming and soothing impression. Beside, milk has always garnered a positive feeling of being pure, white and moisturising for the body.

I am always on the lookout for a better eczema cream of a more natural origin as the 3 step prescription from the dermatologist is expensive for the long term hence I usually keep it as an emergency treatment when my eczema flared up too horribly.

I purchased Baby Spa Calming Eczema Relief Cream for S$13.58 from Iherb. You can quote OKI787 to get US$5 off your first purchase. The reviews were good and so, the product went into my shopping cart. It is said to temporarily protect and help relieve minor skin irritation and itching due to eczema and rashes which is what I need.

The Baby Spa Calming Eczema Relief Cream is said to provide gentle and nourishing skin care for all ages and is ideal for newborns to adults with sensitive skin. It is 100% free of phthalates, parabens, polyethylene glycol (PEG), mineral oil and bisphenol A (BPA).

The cream is gentle without being greasy and moisturises well. In fact, it has been a pleasant experience. The cream provides an immediate soothing and cooling sensation when there is an itch or an eczema flare-up.

I use the eczema relief cream as a body lotion during my recent Sydney/Melbourne trip to prevent any ezcema flare-up and thankfully, there was none. In Singapore, I use it on minor eczema flare-ups and it worked pretty well but on more serious flare-up, it did not help to alleviate the itchiness but made me scratch more instead. I would say it work 80% of the time, for me.

Review : Bach Flower Remedies Rescue Cream

Product Description
Rescue Cream is an intensive moisturizer designed to soothe dry, irritated, or damaged skin caused by the stresses and strains of everyday life. As a well-known indicator of how the body feels inside, our skin is often the first place where you see the effects of a demanding, busy life. This can lead to dry, rough, uneven, dull looking skin. Rescue Cream helps promote healing of irritated or damaged skin. A combination of six of the Bach Original Flower Remedies, Rescue Cream is a soothing cream that can be applied to hands, body or face. Safe for use on rough, chapped or damaged skin. Rescue Cream is non-greasy, fragrance-free, paraben-free, lanolin-free, and not tested on animals.

I am always on the lookout for some type of all-in-one healing cream - for itchiness, for bites, for eczema ( if possible ), heals damaged skin, soothe dry skin, etc. A brand that I like has been discontinued so I have been on the lookout on Iherb when I chanced upon this, with pretty good reviews.

Bach Flower Remedies Rescue Cream is white in colour and light in texture. It is soft and applies well on skin. I have used it on itchy mosquito bites but it works to soothe the itch only at times and not every time. I have also used it on eczema itch but it made the itch worse. In fact, I over-apply when the eczema itch got too bad ( I apply and re-apply on the affected area several times during one night ) and I seem to get some giddiness on the left side of my head. That got me panicky and I stopped using it for several weeks. The giddiness gradually disappeared but it took a long while.

Potential side-effects can be found here while the good stories can be found here.
Poisoning symptoms from the use of Clematis vitalba HPUS include dizziness, confusion, possible fainting and convulsions which vaguely seems like mine. Oops. Read more from here.

You can get Bach Flower Remedies Rescue Cream at S$13.54 from Iherb. Free products for first time customers can be found here. Save $5 with my code OKI787 which is only valid for first time customers.
Active Ingredients: 5x of combined clematis vitalba HPUS, helianthemum nummularium HPUS, impatiens glandulifera HPUS, malus pumila HPUS, ornithogalum umbellatum HPUS, prunus cerasifera HPUS.

Review : Hiruscar

Product Description
Hiruscar contains MPS combined with Allium Cepa together with 4 more elements that reduce excessive tissues from forming. It also improves and dissipates wounds naturally while softening thick marks. In order to see best results, the treatment should be continual for 4 -6 months. Treatment times are subjected to condition, size, type, severity and age of scars

I don't usually promote scar creams on my blog as I hardly ever use them, preferring to let them heal naturally. However, with older age, I notice that skin renewal has slowed down significantly - that includes scars left my zits or injuries.

I redeemed a 7g free Hiruscar sample several months back and it came in timely to be used on mosquito scars and a recent fall. As some may be aware, I am prone to mosquito bites and I seem to have jelly legs, either to twist my ankle or to fall down occasionally.

Key Ingredients :
MPS (Mucopolysaccharide Polysulphate) : speeds up the productivity of hyaluronic acid that increases skin cells ability to retain moisture, resulting in softening scars, better oxygen and nutrients circulation in the skin's epidermis layer.
Allium Cepa : prevent the building of excessive tissue, reducing scar size, red rashes and black marks
Allantoin : speeds up the peeling process and adds more moisture to skin
Aloe Vera : promotes wound healing and prevents progressive skin damage
Vitamin B3 : finely adjusts skin tone and dissipates black marks
Vitamin E : an excellent moisturizer and antioxidant

Hiruscar is for body so I don't use it for the face at all. I tend to separate body and face products and would not use it interchangeably. You can check out other products on their site. They have one for post acne scars. I strongly encourage to leave all purging and squeezing of zits and blackheads to the professionals so that they can heal naturally without any infections.

Currently I use Hiruscar only on scars left by mosquito bites ( from bad scratching until it bleeds or skin is torn ) and falls ( from wounds or infections ), not on scratching due to eczema related concerns, as I use Physiogel AI Cream for that. Using Hiruscar consistently for 3 times a week for more than a month, I notice that my mosquito bites scars heal faster, no more 5 cents and 10 cents on my legs. It takes time and definitely there are better results on fresh scars than decades-old scars ( which thankfully they manage to heal by then ) .

On fallen scars on my knees recently, I only use Hiruscar on raised scars after the wound starts to heal as I usually tried to avoid using any products on broken skin. Result is not spectacular at the moment so I am still hoping to see the raised scars being improved as its only 2 weeks old since the fall.

I am sharing this product in order to share the news with those battling scar concerns like mine. Hope it will help you too.

Review : Medicine Mama's Sweet Bee's Magic

Product Description
Medicine Mama’s breakthrough “miracle” skin cream is the only product to feature the healing compound Melexylem™, created exclusively to provide heightened prebiotic, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects while soothing, healing and hydrating skin of all kinds. Clean, luxurious, long-lasting and created using a sustainable process that helps our magnificent bee population thrive and survive, Sweet Bee Magic is the only skincare solution you will ever need.

Benefits :
  • maintain healthy, radiant, youthful-looking skin
  • moisturize dry, cracked or irritated skin
  • heal rashes, burns, scars and intense skin irritation
  • soothe cold sores and chapped lips
  • reduce inflammation
  • relieve sunburns and insect bites

Mosquitoes love me but it is not a mutual attraction so I have a tendency to stock up on healing balms to soothe the itches. My last healing balm was the best product ever created but unfortunately, as with all my favourite products, I lucked out, when they stop producing them.

Medicine Mama's Sweet Bee's Magic seems like the perfect balm for me, with all the touted benefits as claimed. I started using it, the moment I received it from Iherb. You can also check out other super brands here.

Free from dyes, fragrances, artifical preservatives, parabens and soy, Medicine Mama's Sweet Bee's Magic contains healing Melexylem™, purifying propolis, antimicrobial honey, nourishing royal jelly, revitalizing bee pollen, moisturizing extra virgin olive oil and protective beeswax - ingredients that most of us understand.

I was having a bout of eczema flare-up during the period that I received Medicine Mama's Sweet Bee's Magic so a dollop of the creamy, greasy and balmy salve goes onto the eczema prone areas. It soothes the areas, making me happy so I use it for several days but somehow, it starts to lose its effectiveness. I apply more dollops, leaving more greasy stains on my computer chair and bed which was a secondary concern as I desperately wanted to soothe the itches. It soothes for several minutes before the itches start again. The eczema areas on the back of my knees and front of my right elbow has already turned red, flaky and ugly - not because of Medicine Mama's Sweet Bee's Magic but because it doesn't soothe the itches so I just keep scratching them which is something anyone with eczema shouldn't do.

So even though the product claims that it heals intense skin irritation and moisturize dry, cracked or irritated skin, it is not for the itches caused by eczema condition. On mosquito bites, it soothes and heals - just with greasy stains as what most products with beewax tend to have. I haven't try on cold sores and chapped lips since I reserve this strictly for the body.

Ingredients :
Organic extra virgin olea europaea (olive) fruit oil, organic cera alba (beeswax), organic honey, propolis extract, bee pollen, royal jelly.

Review : Natural Healing Balm

Product Description
A thick, concentrated, nourishing salve with healing and anti-inflammatory properties. Made with ingredients such as shea butter, calendula, carrot tissue, lavender and chamomile that are well known for their ability to heal and aid in skin cell regeneration. All that goodness in just one jar! This balm has a potent healing effect on injured and damaged skin. Apply often on areas affected by insect bites, rashes, eczema, scrapes and minor burns. Massage well into skin!

Once in a while, you get little gems that you cannot do without. I found mine in this little pot of Natural Healing Balm. I don't even have the correct category in my blog for this item because this is not exactly a beauty product yet I really wanted to share this rare discovery with my readers. ;)

When I first moved to stay with my in-laws, I got really bad mosquito bites. Within 5 mins, I can get 13 bites on both of my legs while the family members got none. Its THAT bad and I have gone thru different potions and lotions as well as insect repellents and mosquito coils. There was a period when I slept with the insect repellent turned on every night without fail. ( the kind that you just plug into the socket )

After reading online that such chemicals can be bad for the body, I started searching for some natural alternatives, and stumbled upon this Little Dreamers. I have to confess that I don't have a good initial impression with the people behind it because their emails were not replied promptly and they are not friendly and approachable. There is no personal touch too. However I have since gotten use to such mum-preneurs because they are just so busy with their children and I can understand that. I have the same issue with another online site manned by another mumpreneur.

I am not a fan of salve products, due to a bad experience with Burt's Bee Hand Salve but I was desperate for something that can heal those ugly love bites left by the lovely mosquitoes. And how well it works for me! The price have increased alittle, I bought the 25ml for $11.50 more than a year ago and its selling for $12.50 now. The hand salve contents are packed in this little 25ml pot and each time you have to dig your fingers into the greasy salve to scoop them out. I am not sure if there is a better way in using them but thats how I use them for now. I would be more particular on the hygiene factor if its for the face but I am more tolerant when its for the body. You only need alittle for each bite mark so the 25ml gem goes a long way.

It has an odd scent, probably because of the ingredients and the salve is thick and concentrated with a heavy greasy after feel. But trust me, it worked wonders, on itchiness and on mosquito bites. It soothe and heal the bites and I love it so much. Do note that I don't use it on my face because I always separate my body and face products. Its also effective on the surrounding area of wounds where it itches due to skin renewal.
I am not sure where the owner gets her products but she did tell me she bought it elsewhere and its not her own formulation. However, I am unable to get any information from the net on the tub's brand name " Rainbow Botanicals"

Ingredients :
Shea butter, wheatgerm oil, olive oil, beeswax, calendula infused oil, carrot tissue oil, vitamin E, organic lavender essential oil and roman chamomile essential oil.
