Product Description
A moisturizing sheet mask formulated with Snail Secretion Filtrate for a supple, smooth and vitalized look.
I received 2 complimentary mask sheets from The SAEM when I was in Seoul in September. However, unfortunately, I had the worst customer experience at The SAEM at Lotte Mart ( Seoul Station ) so I would always remember this brand.
I started off with speaking in English and the lady served me politely in haltingly English language which I was alright with. But the moment she knew that I understood Mandarin, she started conversing with me in Mandarin with a change in attitude. She used hard-sell tactics and followed me around, recommending products one after another, to the point of being annoying.
At the cashier, she informed me about the different discount tiers and promised me free samples and masks. However, after my 55500 won purchase, she lost her smile, passed me 2 pathetic tiny samples and started chatting with her colleague at the cashier.
Since she has suddenly developed amnesia, I decided to remind her about the sheet masks where she gave a fake "oh", before reaching under the cashier to pass me these 2 masks before resuming her chatting with her colleague. An awful experience!
Helix aspersa muller glycoconjugates is the official name for Snail Slime or Snail Filtrate ( cosmetic name ) which refers to that tacky, gooey residue that snails leave in their wake.
Hippocrates reportedly prescribed crushed snail and sour milk to clear up skin inflammation. For centuries in small rural communities in southern Italy, snail mucus has been used to alleviate warts, calluses, and acne.
Then, snail slime stepped out of the shadows in the 1980s. French chefs who turned the humble gastropod into buttery, garlicky appetizers called escargot were doing a brisk business with a Chilean family who raised and exported snails.
The Chilean workers often cut their hands and arms on the metal cages, and they noticed that the snail slime seemed to heal the wounds and soften their skin.
Since then, Korean scientists have put ample research behind this trend. The hyaluronic acid found in snail mucin is proven to not only keep skin supple, but retain hydration, improve hyperpigmentation, and even keep acne at bay.
The SAEM Pure Natural Snail Mask Sheet is made of a thin cotton material that is fully soaked with essence. Unfortunately, the cutting is one of the worst of all the facial sheet masks I have tried before. It is catered for smaller faces where it does not even cover my top forehead, barely cover the sides and tip of nose and also has a large eye cut-out area.
That said, the Snail Mask Sheet brightened up my skin with a subtle glow and made my skin feel softer. I also like that, there is no alcohol in the ingredient list, commonly found in some leading Korean brand masks.

Thank you for your review. I stumbled on your blog looking for Saem mask reviews and I have to agree! The cutting of the mask doesn't cover my entire face and the eye holes are too small. The top of the eye is in my eyelashes, where the side are almost actually IN my eye! Its a tiny cut for a tiny face... but I dont have an abnormal shape or size... I'm very typical. So frustrating.
