Acwell is a Korean herbal skincare brand that focuses on helping sensitive and troubled skin. It combines traditional Korean medicine with over 400 years of history with modern-day research to give you the best results. Natural herbs calm skin and address problems at their roots to restore skin back to health.

In Acwell Drinks Purifying Daanje Mask, there are fermented ingredients like Rice Ferment Extract and Soybean Ferment Extract. Fermented ( Fermentation involves adding microorganisms like bacteria to natural ingredients ) products are highly raved in Kbeauty, due to the various skincare benefits after going through the fermentation process.

3 key reasons below, as explained by Klog,
- Molecular size is smaller hence ingredients have a better penetration to skin.
- Fermentation neutralizes toxic substances usually found in raw natural ingredients hence minimizing the risk of skin irritation and damage. Read the study here.
- Fermentation process creates new amino acids, organic acids and antioxidants hence providing the best nutrition to skin.

Rice itself is full of vitamins, amino acids, and minerals that can brighten, tighten, and soften your skin. Left to ferment, rice water becomes a veritable anti-aging elixir. It's rich in minerals, antioxidants, B and E vitamins, and traces of pitera ( think : SKII ), helping to boost cell regeneration, keeping the skin bright and supple. There is an additional research evaluating the presence of Pitera, after fermentation, as an active in make-up remover in terms of cleansing and moisturizing properties and been proven to be satisfactory.

According to published studies, fermented soybean extract has been demonstrated to have high antioxidant activity as well as having an effect on the activity of antioxidant enzymes in liver. It is able to function both as an antioxidant and as a free radical acceptor that can convert free radicals into harmless substances through an energy-decreasing procedure.

Acwell Drinks Purifying Daanje Mask Material

Acwell Drinks Purifying Daanje Mask was totally soaked in essence and cold to the touch. The thin and durable material adhered very well to skin but unfortunately, the cutout for the lips area was pretty small hence it can be annoying.

Since the mask is said to soothe tired skin and minimize redness, I chose to use it on a day where there was some irritation on my face - slight redness between brows and on sides of nose.

Unfortunately, the mask failed to soothe any redness on my skin, in fact, there was no difference before and after masking, in terms of the redness. I would expect that my redness would have been toned down after a 30 minutes masking treatment but nope, that did not happen.

Skin, however, did look less tired and fresher-looking. Skin is moderately hydrated and the roughness on the sides of my nose was minimized although it was back the following morning.

Full ingredient list can be found on CosDNA where active ingredients like Rice Ferment Extract, Sodium Hylauronate, Soybean Ferment Extract, Cinnamomum Cassia Bark Extract and Origanum Vulgare Leaf Extract are found higher up in the list with higher concentration.

Other products with rice extract are Skin Food Beauty In Food Mask, Rice, My Beauty Diary Rice Peptides Mask and Dermalogica Rice Microfoliant. Rice water is also one of the beauty secrets from Japanese - you can read it here.
