Hygee Vegan Sun Cream Review

Product Description
Hygee Vegan Sun Cream is a vegan-certified sun cream fitted with SPF 50+ PA++++ for sun protection, and infused with chlorella vulgaris and beet root extracts for a plumped-up and hydrated finish. Coming in an essence-like consistency, the chemical sunscreen glides smoothly onto skin and leaves zero white cast. Free of artificial colorants, the natural sun cream is gentle on skin.

After emptying Some By Mi V10 Hyal Air Fit Sunscreen and Everyday Humans Resting Beach Face SPF30 Sunscreen Serum, I shopped my stash and chose Hygee Vegan Sun Cream SPF 50+ PA++++ as my next sunscreen which I purchased from Bemused together with other sunscreens (there was a particular brand which I was eyeing, and it was not available in Singapore).

Hailing from Korea, HYGGEE takes its name and skin care philosophy from the Danish concept of living well with simplicity. The brand offers multi-tasking products made with high-quality and powerful ingredients to simplify the skin care routine without compromising effectiveness.

This is my first product from the brand and I am so glad to try this sunscreen, although alcohol listed as the 2nd ingredient in the list, isn't my preferred type.

Packaging, Scent and Texture

Hygee Vegan Sun Cream Texture

Hygee Vegan Sun Cream SPF 50+ PA++++ is housed in a 50ml tube, with an essence-cream texture that is lightweight and spreads easily. It has a hint of alcohol scent.

How To Use :
1) Use after the primary skincare routine.
2) Take an appropriate amount and apply evenly to the face and neck.

Performance and Ingredients

I really enjoyed the essence-cream texture that works well for my combination skin type in humid climate like Singapore. It spreads easily, absorbs quickly and has a moisturizing dewy glow. It never feels heavy or greasy but if you layer a few more times, you might find the glow alittle over the top.

I usually apply a sunscreen stick, followed by Hygee Vegan Sun Cream SPF 50+ PA++++ and top up with a tinted sunscreen and a sunscreen powder on my regular working days.

Hygee Vegan Sun Cream is often mentioned as a dupe for Krave Beauty Beet The Sun, but there are a few key differences to note! While both sunscreens share five similar UV filters, Hyggee’s formula contains a higher alcohol content, which may affect those with sensitive or dry skin.

That said, keep in mind that Krave Beauty has updated its formulations, so my comparison is based on an earlier version of Beet The Sun. If you're looking for a lightweight, vegan sunscreen with similar UV protection, Hyggee might be worth a try!

You will be glad to hear that Hygee Vegan Sun Cream has received the following awards
- 2021 Hwahae Beauty Award 1st Place
- Best new product for the 2nd half of 2021 in the suncream/lotion category

It has also been certified by Ellead Co Ltd of having SPF53.1 and 20.94 which meant PA++++

The key ingredients are....

Marine Algae Extract (Chlorella Vulgaris) : Fights signs of aging due to high antioxidant and amino acid content. Moisturizes and strengthens the skin barrier.

Beet Root Extract : Rich in natural minerals, vitamins, and antioxidants and creates vibrant and healthy skin.

Glucose : A natural moisturizing factor which presents moisture evaporation.

The 5 UV filters are....

Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate : A new generation, chemical sunscreen agent with high UVA protection and high photostability. Also known as Uvinul A Plus.

Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine : A broad-spectrum ( full UVA and UVB protection ) chemical sunscreen agent which is also known as Tinosorb S. Hardly deteriorates in the presence of UV light and is useful in stabilizing other less stable sunscreen agents, like the UVA protector, avobenzone.

Ethylhexyl Triazone : A new generation, chemical sunscreen that gives the highest photo-stable absorption of all available UVB filters today. Also known as Octyl Triazone.

Isoamyl p-Methoxycinnamate : A chemical sunscreen agent with UVB protection. Also known as Amiloxate.

Polysilicone-15 : A chemical sunscreen agent with UVB protection. It also help to stabilize the famously unstable UVA filter, avobenzone and works especially well with Ensulizole to achieve high SPF protection.

Water, Alcohol, Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate, Bis-Ethylhexyloxyohenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine, Butyloctyl Salicylate, Dibutyl Adipate, Ethylhexyl Triazone, Hexyl Laurate, Niacinamide, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Caprylyl Methicone, Sodium Acrylates Crosspolymer-2, Chlorella Minutissima Extract, Beta Vulgaris (Beet) Root Extract, Isoamyl p-Methoxycinnamate, Polysilicone-15, 1,2-Hexanediol, Pentylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol, Glucose, Sodium Polyacryloyldimethyl Taurate, Hydroxyacetophenone, Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6, Fructooligosaccharides, Fructose, Ethylhexyl Olivate, Sodium Acrylates Copolymer, Polyglyceryl-4 Oleate, Adenosine, Ethylhexylglycerin, Disodium EDTA

Conclusion

To conclude, I loved the essence-cream texture of Hygee Vegan Sun Cream SPF 50+ PA++++ —lightweight yet hydrating, perfect for my combination skin in humid weather like Singapore. It spreads effortlessly, absorbs quickly, and gives a moisturizing dewy glow without feeling heavy or greasy.

However, layering too much can make the glow a bit excessive, and I’m not a fan of the high alcohol content in the formula. If you love a fresh, dewy finish and don’t mind the alcohol, this could still be a solid pick!
