I chanced upon a 50% discount on Modest Ego Organic Black Currant & Grape Repair Hair Mask in Guardian Pharmacy which came in timely for my upcoming hair colouring job. I like to deep-condition my hair a day after my hair colouring, as my tresses are always lumpy, dry and hard for about 3 days after each hair colouring session. 

Nourishing hair packs like these are welcomed in my hair routine and I have tried Rated Green Cold Press Tamanu Oil Soothing Scalp Pack, Yuchoo Steam Silk Hair Pack and FaceTory Perfectly You Steaming Hair Mask which worked great as a 1 time deep conditioning boost as and when my hair needs it. 

Packaging, Scent and Texture

Modest Ego Organic Black Currant & Grape Repair Hair Mask comes in 2 parts - the upper portion stores a reusable cap while the bottom portion stores the creamy hair mask. 

It has a blackcurrant and grape fragrance and is white creamy in texture for coating on the hair, like a conditioner. 

How To Use :

1) Wash your hair and towel dry 

2) Apply the hair mask from lengths to tips, then cover your hair with the cap 

3) Relax & let the real botanicals transform your hair. Leave it on for 30 minutes.  

4) Rinse off and enjoy your naturally beautiful hair

Performance and Ingredients

Made in Poland, Modest Ego Organic Black Currant & Grape Repair Hair Mask is a vegan formula with 95% ingredients of natural origins without sulfates, parabens and dyes. Recommended for normal and thick hair, this hair mask helps to repair and rejuvenate damaged hair. 

It is pretty easy to use - just coat the hair with the creamy hair mask, wear the reusable cap over it and remove after 30 minutes to rinse off the mask contents. Viola! Hair is so soft and smooth!

Being a hair mask, this is recommended to be used on freshly-washed hair, however, I used it just before I rinsed my hair and it worked great too. I need to soften my hair before shampoo-ing which was why I chose to use this hair mask as a pre-shampoo treatment.

That said, the hair mask contents are insufficient for very long tresses, so I would only recommend it for middle-length hair. Adding on, the fragrance can get pretty overwhelming. Even after rinsing it off, the fragrance lingers till the next wash.

Conclusion

To conclude, Modest Ego Organic Black Currant & Grape Repair Hair Mask worked great as a deep conditioning hair mask for soft and smooth hair, except that the fragrance can be pretty overwhelming as it lingered till the next wash. It is best suited for middle length hair as the contents may be insufficient for very long hair.

It has been awhile since I last used Mentholatum products so when I chanced upon Mentholatum Sunplay Skin Aqua Tone Up UV Mist at 50% off with a 6-month expiry date, I purchased it. 

The Mentholatum Company is a manufacturer and marketer of non-prescription drugs and healthcare products based in USA. The company, privately held for 99 years, was acquired by Rohto Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. of Osaka, Japan in 1988.

Mentholatum Sunplay Skin Aqua Tone Up UV Mist SPF 50+ PA++++ is a 70g can that dispenses the sunscreen in a mist. Lavender in colour to colour-correct and brighten complexion while enjoying UV protection, this sunscreen mist also comes in a pretty mermaid-inspired packaging. 

[ Review ] Nuxe Very Rose Delicate Cleansing Oil

 

Product Description

Nuxe Very Rose Delicate Cleansing Oil is an ultra-effective make-up removing oil that removes even the most resistant or waterproof make-up while protecting skin from limescale and respecting its balance. Its silky texture enriched with Sweet Almond Oil transforms into a lotion on contact with water. Without leaving any oily film on the skin, it restores its softness, suppleness and comfort.

After emptying Klairs Gentle Black Fresh Cleansing Oil and I'm From Fig Cleansing Balm, it was time to look out for new makeup removers and I purchased Nuxe Very Rose Delicate Cleansing Oil during a 1 for 1 sale in our local pharmacy. 

The last time I used a Nuxe product was back in 2013 and the fragrance was rather strong but I was keen to try their cleansing oil. Lets delve down to see if it works well....

Packaging, Scent and Texture

The Nuxe Very Rose Delicate Cleansing Oil comes in a pretty pink bottle with a spritz dispenser and contains 150ml of oil. The rose scent is strong ( due to the rose oil extract ) upon first use but slowly dissipates. It has a clear texture that turns oily upon massaging. 

How To Use :

1) Warm up the product in the palms of your hands. 

2) Massage into dry skin, with closed eyes. 

3) Add a little bit of water to create an emulsion. 

4) Rinse well.

Performance and Ingredients 

With a gentle but effective formula, Nuxe Very Rose Delicate Cleansing Oil respects the natural balance of the skin and easily dissolves accumulated impurities and even the most resistant make-up.

Containing 82% of natural origin ingredients, its stars are Rose Oil Extract and Sweet Almond Oil to effortlessly remove both impurities and waterproof make-up. These botanical origin elements also have the ability to soften and comfort the skin while strengthening the skin barrier. 

With an oil texture that transforms into a pleasant lotion on contact with water, this delicate cleanser protects your skin from dryness, restoring both softness and suppleness, while providing comfort to the skin. In addition, it leaves no oily film on the skin and provides you a unique sensorial experience due to its subtle, fresh, and delicate rose scent, that enhances your senses.

On the first day of use, I was disappointed that the cleansing oil left my skin feeling tight. It was uncomfortable, but thankfully, it worked fine after that.

While it left my face soft and smooth and effectively removed most makeup (except eyeliner remnants, which required a cotton bud), I still prefer Klairs Gentle Black Fresh Cleansing Oil for its fresh and light texture.

Conclusion

To conclude, Nuxe Very Rose Delicate Cleansing Oil left my skin soft and smooth but was drying during the initial usage. It is an effective makeup remover, except for the eyeliner remnants which still require a cotton bud to clear off. 

I still have another bottle, but I will not repurchase because I prefer others. If you are a cleansing balm fan, then this cleansing oil might come across as too gentle but if you are a micellar water gal, then you might enjoy using this.
