The one sachet I owned from the trial kit provided me with 3 tries. Creamy in texture, it is described as yellow-based in colour, though in real life, it doesn't appear to be so. You can refer to my swatch below. It blends well into my skin.

With a sheer to medium coverage, it helps to even out my skin tone and is moisturizing. It did help to reduce the appearance of flakiness but did not remove the flakiness. I don't expect it to be able to do that since after all, its still a make-up product and not a skincare product.
The oil control is pretty good, as my T-zone did not oil up that terribly by mid afternoon.
Containing SPF35, its not greasy and is a breeze to use on the skin.

The product uses Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide to provide a broad spectrum protection from the sun rays.

I owned a 5ml of this product which is made in Japan. It comes together with the trial pack which I bought some time back. Touted to contain a skin brightening substance which works on the causes of blotches and freckles, as well as containing marine collagen and hyaluronan to protect and moisturize skin subjected to drying from UV rays. It contains no perfumes, coloring, mineral oils or UV ray absorbing substances.

This product has a milky texture with a slight silicon feel to make skin smooth. It glides well and is non-greasy and non-sticky. However, even with SPF35, I still finds it insufficient to combat the harsh sun rays in Greece.
This product uses Zinc Oxide, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate and Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane for protection against UVA and UVB rays.

The 2 sachets I owned is from a trial kit I bought some time back. Clear in colour, it has a serum-like texure and is slightly sticky. If applied with a heavy hand, it can be tacky on the skin and takes while to sink into the skin.

Yet another product which I brought along for my Greece trip, I use this essence just before its Collagen-Gel moisturizer and feels that it helps the moisturizer to penetrate into my skin better.

The 50ml product retails for $96.

Debuting in July this year, this high density jelly is formulated to combat water loss from the skin and deliver overnight hydration while you sleep.
According to Biotherm's research, skin loses up to four times more water in the night than in the day.
It's star ingredient, the P. Antarctica extract, purportedly boosts the production of new skin cells by up to 25 per cent after just 48 hours.

The packaging for this product is similar to its Source Therapie range with a squeeze dispenser that dispenses just the right amount though I usually like 2 spritz that provides just enough hydration for my face.

Blue in colour, it has a gel-like texture that appears to be light, as compared to most night creams in the market. However, it gives a sheen to the skin and very much so, if applied too much. I did not quite like a shiny face just before I turned in to bed.
On optimal skin condition, it hardly does much. However I experienced its effectiveness when I use it on dehydrated skin. My skin was refreshed and moisturized the following morning, without the flakiness.

The packaging is poorly designed though, the contents can get difficult to be dispense through the bottle nearer to the end of usage. The thin tube that is attached to the cap when you unscrew it, does not reach to the end of the bottle and gets dislocate easily if I keep using it to scoop the contents out.

A 50ml bottle retails for $75.
In terms of ingredients, you will be dismayed to note that it contains alcohol and fragrance in the product.

According to Paula,
Alcohol in skin-care products causes dryness and free-radical damage, and impairs the skin’s ability to heal. The irritation it causes damages healthy collagen production and can stimulate oil production at the base of the pore, making oily skin worse.
Daily use of products that contain a high amount of fragrance, whether the fragrant ingredients are synthetic or natural, causes chronic irritation that can damage healthy collagen production, lead to or worsen dryness, and impair your skin’s ability to heal

There was a period when I was stocking up on glossy sprays for the hair, for that extra bit of shine required for my dull tresses. And this product was one of them, which I picked up from Drugstore.com.
Garnier Fructis always has a wide range of different products for the hair and because of its affordability, I couldn't resist picking some to try.

Containing Olive, Avocado and Shea as the 3 nutritive oils, this product is recommended for dry to over-dried or damaged hair providing that dual action it claims to do - nourish and shine. It is also supposed to make the hair 3x stronger and 3x healthier as well.
And because there's oil in the bottle, you need to shake it well, before usage. The spray spritz comes out in fine bursts.

It has the typical scent of Garnier Fructis products and I usually use it on damp hair every morning, before I left for work. Its pretty lightweight and non-greasy, making my hair soft and smooth to the touch.

It scored 4.4 from 9 users on Makeupalley.

In terms of ingredients, note that the oils as advertised on the bottle are found at the bottom half of the list, which does not amount to a lot. Fragrance is high up in the list which does not do anything for the hair, except for the feel-good effect.

It is packaged in a tub with a spatula provided. The scent is pretty strong but dissipates after application. It has a lotion-like serum with a slight stickiness that takes some time to get absorbed in the skin, leaving the skin greasy-looking but its actually pretty lightweight.

 

 

 

It looks and feels pretty hydrating but hardly made an improvement to my dry undereye circle in terms of hydration or brightening effects.

Recommended to be used on damp skin, this mask pack has a soft jelly texture which is a joy to be massaged on the skin easily due to its nitty-gritty granules. I treat it as an exfoliating mask scrub.

It left my skin feeling soft, supple and smooth to the touch. However, at times, this exfoliating scrub mask may feel a tad rough on delicate dehydrated skin and may turns red. It did not hydrate my skin sufficiently so I like to follow up with a hydrating mask after using this mask pack. Best to use on optimal skin condition.

It smells nice and is hardly abrasive to my skin. It left my skin moderately smooth but not the soft supple skin which I was expecting.

Sukin's products are free of Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS), Sodium Laureth Sulphate (SLES), synthetic fragrances, animal derivatives, harsh detergents, propylene glycol, artificial colours, triethanolamine, mineral oils, EDTA and parabens.

This product is no longer available on the market. I can't remember where I purchase it from though.
A little goes a long way for most creamy concealers as it may end up creasing and caking on the undereye area.

My undereye area is dry and this concealer, being slightly creamy yet lightweight in texture works moderately well to combat the dark eye circles and does not crease or cake too much. It did not conceal the dark circles perfectly but did help to minimize the darkness and brighten the overall area.

Housed in a slim clear bottle with a flip cap, the shampoo with honey-coloured contents ( that seemed to gleam ) gives a good foaming action (much better than most SLS-free shampoos in the market) to the hair.
While it does its job well, there were breakouts near my hairline. The conditioner, similarly housed in the slim clear bottle with a clear-coloured contents and creamy texture helps to condition the hair,
making it soft.
The products do not contain parabens, PEGs, phthalates, sulfates or artifical fragrances

Pairing both the shampoo and conditioner did not control frizz or add any visible shine to my tresses though. My hair is still lightly tangled at the hair ends.

Kept in a tray, the jelly-like texture of the eye masks is not easy to pick up by the hands and has a tendency to slide down from the undereye area. It left a stinging feel on my undereye area during my first usage but it was alright with subsequent 2 usages.

Review : Hershey's Chocolate Syrup Lip Balm

Knowing that I am a fan of Hershey's Chocolates in the past, my sister bought this for me as a gift. I don't fancy Hershey's Chocolates nowadays because its just too sweet for my tastebuds. It changes as my age creeps up.

Made in China, this lip balm is yummylicious when I first use it. I really like the scent and the taste but if applied carelessly, you may find some brown stains around your lips. Beside, it does not moisturizes that well.
My lips were still flaking quite badly even after using it.

Lovemore x My Melody Rose and Achillea Millefolium Whitening Mask

Recommended for brightening purposes, this facial sheet mask material is thin but sturdy with a shorter nose flap though the cut fits my face contours well.

I was on a hunt for whitening masks after being back from Greece, since my relatives have commented I have turned darker. I don't mind being dark but not those pigmentation spots that comes after, if any.

With a slight rosy scent, this facial sheet mask does not seem to serve my needs well. I did not see any visible brightening effect though.

Hailing from the UK, the products have interesting and fun names. Just check it all here. The lemongrass and ginger scent is really uplifting and refreshing. It smells nice during a bath, foams well and non-drying. Everything I like, in a shower gel.

5 Vitamin Cures for Fantastic Skin

1. Vitamin C: Exfoliator.
Mix a teaspoon or two of vitamin C powder (ascorbic acid) with some almond milk until you get a nice paste, and massage it into your face with a little brush. Once you feel it tingle, rinse and apply some rosewater. Do this 3-5 times a week, and your skin texture will improve quickly. Don't use on injured skin, as ascorbic acid burns in open wounds.

2. Vitamin E: Anti-Wrinkle Treatment. 
Just squeeze the content of one vitamin E capsule onto fine lines of your clean face before you go to bed, and you'll be as good as new when you wake up the next morning.

3. Omega-3 fatty acids: Face Mask.
Skin-wise, omega-3 fatty acids are perfect for reducing inflammation, lines and wrinkles, and they even help you fight clogged pores. If you want to use them externally, mix a little bit of finely ground chia seeds with some organic yogurt and a splash of flaxseed oil, and stir thoroughly. Apply on your skin like a face mask and rinse with lukewarm water after 15-20 minutes. If you do this before you go to bed at night, you'll still feel the moisturizing and rejuvenating effects the next day.

4. Zinc: Moisturizer.
Zinc is a powerful nutrient. It promotes cell renewal, has a skin-soothing effect and is a terrific acne buster. If you want to increase your zinc intake, salmon, pumpkin seeds, dark chocolate, garlic, chickpeas or shrimp are great sources.

5. B Vitamins: Overall Skin Health.
B vitamins are vital for healthy skin and could easily be considered genuine skincare heroes. Because B-vitamins are water soluble and get washed out if your body doesn't use them right away, it's important to replace them daily. If you want to give it a try, buy clams, mussels, crab, beef or lamb next time you go shopping, or simply find a good (preferably organic) supplement.

I picked up this new brand, located in Ion Orchard, when there was a tube swap promotion during the Great Singapore Sale where you get 50% off a similar item so long you bring your own brand of product in the same category.
The promoter recommended this lightweight, high performance sunblock for face and body usage that can be used as extreme protection under extreme outdoor conditions.

VMV HYPOALLERGENICS™ is the only brand to validate its hypoallergenicity: the VH-Rating System (an original VMV skinnovation) is based on objective, independent references for allergens: the North American Contact Dermatitis Group + European Surveillance System on Contact Allergies.
For this product, with a VH-73/76*, it would meant it contains 3 common allergens. Find the asterisk on the ingredients list and you’ll find which ingredient is the allergen and that would be Methylparaben, Propylparaben and Tocopheryl Acetate.

If you have a history of skin sensitivity, choose products with the highest VH-Rating.
Note : on the product packaging, it was stated to have VH-74/76*, with Methylparaben and Tocopheryl Acetate as the allergens.

For a SPF 70 product, I was surprised that the texture is light and non-greasy, despite having a creamy texture. Even though a SPF 70 does not effectively block 100% of the sun rays ( nothing does ), it gives a better sense of protection as most people under apply it.
It neither left a white cast on skin nor has any sunscreen scent. With a smooth glide due to its soft, skin-coating silicones, the skin stays comfortable without any stickiness. I prefer to use it on the arms and hands as it has this tiny nitty-gritty bits. Its not alot, but its there.

UV exposure (UVA + UVB ) from the sun increases the risk of skin cancer, premature skin aging and other skin damage so its highly recommended to get a broad spectrum sunblock that is effective against both UVB (skin-burning) and UVA (skin-aging) rays.
In this sunblock, impressive PFAs ( protection against UVA ) are combined with SPFs ( protection against UVB ) as high as 70-90 to effectively screen out UVA and UVB rays for active protection against sun-induced skin cancer, photoaging and hyperpigmentation.

I am confused on its 100% Dye-Phthalate-PABA-Free statement though, because in its list of ingredients, it still contains a number of parabens namely Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Butylparaben, Propylparaben and Isobutylparaben.

I brought it along for my Greece trip since I needed something hydrating for the under-eye area to combat the scorching sun in Greece. As expected, the serum-like texture is clear in colour and pretty lightweight in texture. 

It is non-greasy, non-sticky and is refreshing but not hydrating enough. The rolling massage is good for circulation as its cool to the touch.

More quantity is needed as the texture is almost runny so I am almost done with the 4ml tube after 3 weeks of twice daily usage. I have not noticed any visible improvement for lightening my dark circles though.

Review : It's Skin Prestige Mask D'escargot

Snail is known to protect itself by recovering scars or cuts in short period of time. Its' repairing function inspires a Korean skin care brand - It's Skin, to produce a series of D'escargot products which are suitable for most skin types.

A friend helped to purchase this box of 5 sheet masks from Korea at 24000 won. The whole packaging certainly looks more luxe. Each individually packed mask sheet is kept within a plastic slippery sheet. And in the plastic slippery sheet, the facial sheet mask is of 2 pieces, one for the upper face and one for the lower face.
For each of the 2 pieces, it is kept protected with yet another thin layer of paper.

The whole packaging with its layering is troublesome because the material of the mask is heavy with a jelly-like texture that is glooey and slippery. There were times that the facial sheet mask almost slipped off my palms as I was busy trying to unwrap all the protective layering that it comes with.

With a light fragrance that is hardly detectable, the jelly mask sheet is just cold and slightly moist but not wet. My skin looks noticeably brighter with a soft and supple feel after 20 minutes.

The product has a peach scent and the mist spray on the 15ml clear bottle was slightly stronger than I would prefer. I brought it on my Greece trip and use it before my serum twice daily. After a generous sprayed mist, I use my fingers to lightly tap on my face and feels that it refreshes my skin better but not exactly hydrating enough.

Note that it contains a high amount of witch hazel and sensitizing preservative methylisothiazolinone and the inclusion of fragrance ingredients (such as linalool) known to be irritating.
