[ Review ] Naruko Narcicuss Repairing Mask + Super Triple HA Mask

 

Naruko sheet masks don't fare particularly well for me, as they always left a taut sensation on my skin, hence I wasn't expecting much from these masks which I received as gifts. 

But viola! surprisingly, Naruko Narcicuss Repairing Mask and Naruko Super Triple HA Mask worked

moderately well for me although there were still not perfect.

Lets check them out..... 

Naruko Narcicuss Repairing Mask is specially designed for prematurely aging skin. Coordinating with high effective protective and hydrated formula, it cherishes damage and weak skin and radiates refined and healthy shine.

Benefits :

How To Use :

1) Take out the mask and put it onto the face. 

2) Wait for 15~20 minutes, then take it off. No rinsing necessary.

Naruko Narcicuss Repairing Mask has a subtle soapy scent with a thin and sheer smooth 100% silk material that adheres to skin pretty well. The cutting fits well with slight gap between nose and cheeks. 

It felt refreshing on skin and my face looked fresher and slightly brighter although there was a subtle taut sensation on the upper lips, hence it won't be a repurchase.

How To Use :

3) Use finger tip to press out excess air from mask.

4) Wait for 15-20 minutes to take off mask and proceed with further skincare procedures.

Super Triple HA Mask has a subtle scent and moderate cutting which fits well, with a slight gap between nose and cheeks. It felt refreshing and hydrating during application. 

My skin was brighter, clearer, and hydrated after a 20-minute masking session, but there was a subtle taut sensation on the upper lips, hence it won't be a repurchase.

I received Naruko Jing Cheng 60 Actives Ultimate Moisturizer, together with other goodies as a Christmas gift from Artisan Glam some time back, with no obligation to review. However, I was excited to incorporate this moisturizer to my skincare routine as its time to include more anti-aging products for my age so its time to share my thoughts after almost emptying it.

Packaging, Scent and Texture

The full retail size of Naruko Jing Cheng 60 Actives Ultimate Moisturizer is 120ml while the product I received is a 50ml travel size that comes in a red tube form with a pump dispenser. 

The box packaging is in deep red with small black fonts which aren't the easiest to read. Floral scent was rather strong in a white buttery formula which can be toned down.

Phoebe from Artisan Glam reached out to me last month and offered to send me their latest product, Naruko Hydrating Tone Up Cream SPF 30 in return for my honest review.

Being a fan of Robin Niu-er Lao Shi  (牛爾) where I even purchased his beauty book several years ago, it was apt for me to try out their latest product, especially since I started using Naruko's products from 2011. 

Packaging, Scent and Texture

Made in Taiwan, Naruko Rose Hydrating Tone Up Cream SPF 30 is housed in a round sturdy plastic bright pink tub with a white cap. A spatula is included in the box packaging for hygiene and convenience which is a thoughtful gesture.

While the tub may look larger than its 25g contents, a little goes a long way and I reckon it can last me for several months.

Initial Application

Spreading out 

Light pink in colour, the texture is creamy yet lightweight and buttery-soft. It has a distinct rose scent which may be a hit for rose-scented fans but as a personal preference, I prefer the scent to be more subtle.

Performance 

Are you new to tone up cream? Tone up cream is a moisturizer used as the last step of your skincare routine to help brighten up a dull complexion. It is like a brightening cream that combines the skin brightening effect at a deep level as well as an instant tone-up effect. I personally feel that tone up cream is more suitable to be used in the day than in the night, especially when it contains SPF.

Naruko Rose Hydrating Tone Up Cream SPF 30 is touted as a day time moisturizer that boosts, replenishes, and seals in moisture for long-lasting hydration. It combines several benefits in this 25g tub - it offers sun protection, hydrates the skin and brightens up the skin which are perfect for the working women of today, who is always busy juggling several roles everyday. It certainly helps simplify our morning skincare routine and cut back on the number of products layered on.

I like how soft and lightweight the texture is, without being greasy or heavy for application under the humid weather. During the first application, one may be surprised with the instant white cast but once you blend in properly, skin looked fairer and brightened with a soft glow. Overall, it looked better, more even-toned and less dull.

Naruko Rose Hydrating Tone Up Cream also worked great as a makeup substitute during this pandemic period where we have to wear a mask wherever we go. With mask-induced skin woes like maskne, skin sensitivity, perspiration, grime, dirt and overproduction of sebum, an additional layer of makeup would be pore-clogging so the best bet would be using a good tone-up cream to get that glowing, even complexion without choking the skin and that is where Naruko Hydrating Tone Up Cream comes into the picture.

I use it when I am heading out, in replace of my moisturizer, for a no makeup makeup look to look brighter instantly, especially since I have steered clear from makeup since the pandemic! Say bye bye to dull skin!

However, do note that after about 4 hours on my combination-dehydrated skin, my skin would turn slightly shiny which was expected so just dab the shine with a tissue. On normal makeup days, my RMS Beauty "Un" Powder would have mattify the shine so it is a minor issue.

Some may skip sunscreen as this cream contains SPF 30 however since one can never apply enough sun protection, I would still add on a sunscreen after using Naruko Rose Hydrating Tone Up Cream SPF 30 for an additional layer of protection.

That said, day cream is never hydrating enough for my combination-dehydrated skin, so I would usually apply a hydrating serum prior to Naruko Rose Hydrating Tone Up Cream SPF 30 application and with that, it would solve my thirsty skin concerns.

Conclusion

To conclude, Naruko Hydrating Tone Up Cream SPF 30 helps to protect against sun damage ( protects against UVA and UVB rays ), blurs blemishes and brightens skin tone, creates a rosy, glowing complexion and keeps skin hydrated and smooth.

I enjoyed using it during the current pandemic as a makeup substitute because it left my skin looking brighter with a soft glow instantly. Overall, it looked better, more even-toned and less dull. However, for my combination-dehydrated skin, it does turn shiny after about 4 hours which I can mattify with loose powder and adding on a hydrating serum would also solve my thirsty skin woes.

Do note that since the product is paraben and preservative-free, it is recommended to use it up within 6 months.

Naruko Tea Tree Anti-Acne Sunscreen SPF50 comes in a pretty 30ml green bottle that certainly reminds one of Tea Tree. It has a distinct Tea Tree scent so if you are not a fan of it, you might not enjoy using the product.

A little goes a long way and the 120ml bottle lasted me for several months. It comes in an opaque plastic bottle with a pump dispenser. 1 pump is enough for my face and the greyish-white lotion texture has a lightweight and emollient consistency. The light floral scent is still bearable for me, it is strong only when you put your nose to it. What I didn't like is the text printed in white against a beige background which is the colour of the bottle which makes reading the instructions and ingredients pretty annoying.

Review : Naruko HA Hydro Lock Moisturizing Mask

I did not have much positive impressions when it comes to Naruko masks because my skin still feels parched after each masking session in the past. However, the formula seemed to have been improved, because my last Naruko AM+PM Mandelic Acid Skin Renewal Brightening Mask  wasn't that bad so yes, to this Naruko HA Hydro Lock Moisturizing Mask as well.

With the one and only mask sheet of Naruko HA Hydro Lock Moisturizing Mask, it was enough to tell me that, their masks are decent and value for money. The material is super thin though, so thin that you may tear it accidentally ( while trying to unfold it as you took it out from the packaging ) but that also prove its adhering ability as it keeps close to the skin without much gaps.

The cutting of the mask fits pretty well and there is no tightness after the masking session. However, it does not really relieve parched skin although it does provide temporary moisture to skin. Get this, as a daily maintenance if you have no dehydration issues to battle with.

Review : Naruko AM + PM Mandelic Acid Skin Renewal Brightening Mask

With my accumulated Naruko points, I managed to redeem a piece of  Naruko AM + PM Mandelic Acid Skin Renewal Brightening Mask which I brought it along for my Tasmania trip.

Made of a platinum silk cloth, a thin sheer material sheet, the skin renewal brightening mask is very moist and comfortable on skin. I was not too impressed with all the Naruko masks in the past as it was very drying after each treatment. However, for the first time ever, this brightening mask is not drying at all and also provide an immediate brightening effect.

In terms of ingredients, the 4th and 6th ingredients are brightening ingredients and moving down to the middle of the list, is sodium hyaluronic acid which is for moisturising purpose with the last 2nd ingredient as alcohol.

A special reminder, is not to use other brightening products in high concentration such as Vitamin A, C, Mandelic Acid, Salicylic Acid and AHA together with this mask.

Review : Naruko Apple Seed & Tranexamic Acid Cheek Spot Mask

This mask is specially designed for treatment of imperfections over the cheekbone and cheek area. Various brightening ingredients minimize the appearance of skin discoloration and dark spots while conditioning and repairing the skin.

Naruko Apple Seed and Tranexamic Acid Cheek Spot Mask is great for fair-skinned people like myself, who is concerned about the pigmentation spot on the cheeks area, without the need to brighten up the whole face. 

It is made of a soft and comfortable material that is large in size and spread from the undereye area to the lower cheek area. Refreshing with a cooling sensation, it also left a tightening feeling after the 20 minute treatment is up, which seems to be typical of all Naruko masks I have used so far. However, I don't fancy the tightening sensation as it made me feel that all the moisture is being sucked up by the mask, instead of being replenished. 

Tranexamic Acid is the 2nd ingredient in the list and according to this researched article, the ingredient is famed for its whitening properties, helps to prevent pigmentation, improves skin roughness and restores damaged skin caused UVA/UVB, pollution and environmental factors. 

Unfortunately, despite using up all the 10 sheets within a month, I did not see a difference to the dark spots on my cheeks. Who knows, perhaps you may have better results than me?

Formulated without parabens and sulphates, the brightening complex is a product which combines both anti-aging and brightening benefits in one. Suitable for any busy bee.

Review : Naruko Aqua Cubic Jelly Lotion EX

Product Description

This lotion is unique for its rich texture. It instantly turns into liquid after application, pumping moisture and providing long-lasting hydration to the skin. Skin is softened and hydrated with a soothing, refined texture.

Benefits: Instantly hydrates, softens, and soothes dry skin.

I stumble upon Naruko Aqua Cubic Jelly Lotion EX while shopping in JB late last year and have been using this on an on-off basis because the effect isn't too impressive. Even though Naruko products are affordable, but not all work particular well on my skin or perhaps the range that I picked is not suitable for my skin type.

Naruko Aqua Cubic Jelly Lotion EX has a gelly-lotion texture with a heavy rose scent that dispenses via a pump nozzle. When I use it as a lotion mask either with 5 cotton pads over my skin or soaked in paper capsule masks and layered on my skin, there isn't any spectacular improvement after each treatment.

I move on to using it as a lotion, after cleansing and again, it disappoints in not providing that much needed hydration to my skin. My skin becomes dehydrated, flaky and rough, after sleeping in an air-conditioned room. Perhaps I have too much expectation from this product.

While it seems to drench the skin with moisture, it doesn't seem to penetrate deeply into the skin to provide long lasting moisture that is much craved after, from dehydrated skin. It is a medicore product, for normal daily maintenance. At times, it also irritates my skin, especially at the sides of my nose, making it red, raw and dry.

Review : Naruko Raw Job Tears Brightening Night Gelly

Product Description
This is a sleeping beauty gelly for "wiping rough and dull complexion out at night and refreshing skin in the daytime". Main formulas such as Pore White and Pearl White are integrated in the product. Plus the 5 ingredients of synergetic brightening, it accelerates the pore care focusing on large pores and rough and dull skin and creates white, soft, smooth skin conditions. It also soothes and brightens the skin after sun exposure as well as repair the sunburn during daytime.

From the Raw Job Tears range, I have used its whitening toner, lotion, serum, eye gelly and mask before, with some working better than the others.
I particularly like this night gelly ( as compared to the rest of the products ) as I can see the effects.
I usually alternate between a hydrating and a whitening product in the night, depending on my skin needs because whitening products do not provide sufficient hydration most of the times.

With a delicious barley scent, the night gelly has a light jelly serum-like texture that gets absorbed into the skin easily. Its non-oily and skin feels nourished. However, the hydration ability falls short of
expectations.
The following morning, I can see that my skin looks rested with a glowing radiance. However that was only in the initial phases. After subsequent usages beyond a week, the glowing radiance is no longer there.

On its website, this product is said to be " no paraben series of preservatives, artificial flavours and pigments were added to the product", however note that Phenoxyethethanol  as its 2nd last ingredient is a preservative.

Review : Naruko NRK Mandarin Orange & Pineapple Pore Refining Mask

Effectively minimizes pores and controls sebum secretion, delivering bright and smooth skin.

A pack of 10 individually packed sheets costs me $19.90 on Naurko which was supposingly down from $29.90 but this promotional price seemed to be forever there, so it is probably just a marketing gimmick.

This mask is touted to contain 100% pure vegetable and fruit extracts to help cleanse, refine, soothe, tighten and moisturize as well as to balance oil production.

Made of a platinum-level silk mask, the material is thin and is essence-soaked with a nice sweet yummy scent. I usually prefer to use it on days when my skin is oily or with the occasional zit.
As with most Naurko masks, this mask made my skin taut after a 20minute treatment. And I don't see a significant difference or improvement with using this mask.

A dear friend bought an assortment of sheet masks for me, with one being this Apple Seed and Tranexamic Acid Mask from Naruko. The cutting is large and the cut-outs for the eyes and lips are lower than normal which made the fitting slightly uncomfortable.
The material is thin and soft and totally soaked in essence which made adhering to skin well.
As with most Naruko facial sheet masks, my skin feels taut after removing it. Not a feeling I like. Skin looks brighter and refreshed.

Shaped like a party mask, the generous cut meant more areas are covered around the eye area.
It fits snugly, partly due to the hook-up at the ears and rests comfortably around the eyes area without much discomfort.
Its soaked with essence and provides a refreshing feel to the undereye area

I owned a 5ml sample that is part of a trial pack which I bought from Watsons in JB mid last year. Made in Taiwan, please be reminded that the serums in Naruko products are meant to be used before lotion, so to me, it works like a moisturizer, despite the name.

The whitening serum has a light refreshing barley scent that smells nice. The texture is lightweight and get absorbed into the skin pretty quickly. However, its not hydrating enough as my skin flakes under air-conditioning places. My skin looks slightly brighter but its pretty subtle. To be fair, for a 5ml usage, I can't expect much within a short period.

Review : Naruko Narcissus Total Defense Night Repairing Dew

I have previously reviewed its Morning Dew which feels almost similar to this product. The ingredient list is largely the same except for the last 1/3 of the ingredients which may not be that significant to the overall contents of the product as the concentration is much lower.

Housed in a purple bottle, the opening is just large enough for the contents to be dispense on cotton pads and used it either as a lotion mask or as a toner for the skin. I usually use it as toner and did not
differentiate it between day and night usage.

The scent is not overpowering and the texture has a viscous-like consistency, leaving no greasy or sticky after-feel. It is pretty moisturising and refreshing on my skin. There was no flakiness on my skin during the usage period of this toner which proved its effectiveness.

It is packaged in a tub with a spatula provided. The scent is pretty strong but dissipates after application. It has a lotion-like serum with a slight stickiness that takes some time to get absorbed in the skin, leaving the skin greasy-looking but its actually pretty lightweight.

 

 

 

It looks and feels pretty hydrating but hardly made an improvement to my dry undereye circle in terms of hydration or brightening effects.

I purchased this product in Taipei sometime back, just to top up to a certain amount, to enjoy the discount. I thought it would also be good for my combination skin and blackheads on my nose.

This gentle, ecofriendly product is said to be made without parabens, preservatives, artificial ingredients or coloring. The small tube is handy and convenient. Creamy in texture and white in colour, this Blackhead Remover works like a clay mask which I use on the T-zone.

I use it when my skin is oily, when there is an upcoming zit or just to clear the blackheads on my nose. It contains Mint Essential Oil which causes a cool sensation during use.
The recommended usage is to use on damp skin but it does not seem to work too well because a creamy paste just does not adhere to damp skin. And you are supposed to massage it off the skin which also does not seem to work too well for me because the creamy paste just did not dry up within the 3 to 5 minutes time frame.
I usually use it for up to 20 minutes and yet its still not easy to massage/rub it off the skin. I followed up with using cotton pads to clear away the gunk instead.

Nose appears cleaner with blackheads much minimized at times as it does not seem to work every time. Upcoming zits reduced slightly in size, together with my pimple cream used after that. Pores near to my nose looked tighter and smaller but it was a temporary effect that only last till the following morning.

Review : Naruko VC Brightening and Deep Hydration Mask

I purchased it for $14.95 ( 50% off ) when there was a promotion on their website. Containing 10 individually packed pieces in a box, it was literally a steal for that price. Sadly, it doesn't perform up to my expectation.

The packaging has a "oldie" feel, which is pretty funny when I first lay my eyes on it. Just doesn't seem to fit into the Naruko line of products.
This mask is said to moisturize, brighten and improve skin dullness.

Soaked totally in its essence, the sheet mask provided a comfortable fit for my face shape. The material of the sheet mask is thin but sturdy. It has a heavy scent which seemed to be a mixture of lemon and orange but its hardly detectable once layered on the skin.

Its best to layer it on the face for the stipulated 20 minutes and nothing more. I tried it for 30 minutes and my skin was really taut and drying even though the sheet mask was still pretty wet.
After a 20 minutes' treatment , my skin was moderately moisturized from the outlook but still has a slightly drying feel which I dislike.
The brightening effect is there temporarily but did nothing much for my overall complexion the following morning.

Based on the ingredient list, collagen and vitamin C are not that high on the list. Even though Hyaluronic Acid is the 7th ingredient but I feel that it does nothing fantastic in terms of moisturising my skin. It will be good if the preservative, Phenoxyethanol can be found lower in the list though.

Ecofriendly and not made with parabens, preservatives, artificial ingredients or pigment composition, this moisturizing dew claimed to make skin soft, smooth and moisturized and is recommended to be used in the daytime.

The 150ml sized bottle lasts me for about 1.5months with daily usage, sometimes up to twice a day as well as being used as a lotion mask. It is slightly translucent and contents are dispensed through a small gap, without any messiness.

The website description indicated that its to be used in the morning but the product description on the bottle indicates that it can be used for both day and night.
I usually like to use it when my skin is feeling dehydrated, be it day or night.

Runny texture, akin to a toner, this moisturising dew sounds exactly as what the name implies. Moisturises the skin. I feel that my skin is sufficiently hydrated when I used it as a lotion mask, together with Naruko cotton pads.
It made my skin soft and smooth. A really lovely moisturising toner just how my skin likes it.
