La Roche-Posay Uvidea Anthelios Melt-In Tinted Cream Review

Product Description
La Roche-Posay Uvidea Anthelios Melt-In Tinted Cream is a suncare tinted cream that naturally unifies skin color tone while preventing hyperpigmentation. It is a preventing & corrective care against to UVB, UVA, long-UV, and pollution.

Key Benefits :
Naturally unifies complexion, while preventing hyperpigmentation. It is anti-UV, long-UV, and anti-pollution corrective care.  Tested on Asian sensitive skin.

I came across Jenny's recommendation for this product on Instagram a few years back but it wasn't available in Singapore then. I managed to purchase this last year and has been using this for my work-in-office days.

Tinted suncreams have quickly become a staple in modern skincare routines, especially for those who want a streamlined, “less-is-more” approach to beauty. Sitting somewhere between skincare and makeup, a tinted suncream combines broad-spectrum sun protection with a sheer wash of colour, helping to even out skin tone while shielding the skin from harmful UV rays.

One of the key benefits of using a tinted sunscreen is its ability to protect against both UV rays and visible light. Many formulas contain iron oxides, which are known to help defend the skin from blue light and reduce the risk of hyperpigmentation, dark spots, and uneven skin tone. This makes tinted suncream especially beneficial for those with sensitive skin or concerns like melasma and post-acne marks.

For busy mornings or minimal makeup days, tinted suncream is a practical multitasker: it simplifies your routine, enhances your skin’s appearance, and ensures you don’t skip the most essential step like sun protection.

Packaging, Scent and Texture

La Roche-Posay Uvidea Anthelios Melt-In Tinted Cream is made in France and comes in a compact 30ml tube with a slim, pointed nozzle, making it easy to control the amount dispensed for each application.

In terms of scent, it does have a noticeable alcohol note, which may not appeal to everyone, especially if you prefer fragrance-free or low-scent products like myself.

The texture is lightweight and spreads comfortably across the skin, blending in with minimal effort. It glides on smoothly and melts into the skin for a soft, natural-looking finish. When applied with a sponge, you’ll get slightly higher coverage, though it does require using a bit more product.

It feels light and mildly hydrating on the skin, without leaving any greasy residue. The finish is non-oily and wears well throughout the day, making it a reliable base under makeup. The inclusion of La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water also adds a soothing touch to the formula.

A standout for me is the high sun protection—SPF 50 with PA++++—which makes it a great everyday option for strong UV defense while still giving a natural tint.

How To Use :
Apply every morning at the end of the skincare routine. Avoid eye area. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately and thoroughly.

Performance and Ingredients

La Roche-Posay Uvidea Anthelios Melt-In Tinted Cream combines high broad-spectrum protection (SPF 50+ / PA++++) with a natural tint, making it a great tinted sunscreen for everyday wear. It functions similarly to a light BB cream—helping to even out skin tone, reduce redness, and blur minor imperfections while still keeping the skin protected.

Do note that it comes in only one shade (at the time of my purchase), which is more suited for fair to light skin tones. The coverage is sheer and natural, so while it helps to unify the complexion, it won’t fully conceal blemishes, acne marks, or pigmentation.

Upon application, there may be a slight white cast, but this fades within about 5 minutes as the product settles into the skin. The end result is a natural, healthy-looking finish.

For optimal sun protection, I personally don’t rely on tinted sunscreen alone. It can be tricky to apply enough product to achieve the stated SPF. Instead, I layer it as part of my routine:

Sun stick → Regular sunscreen → Tinted sunscreen → Loose powder

This allows me to get full sun protection while enjoying the tone-evening benefits of a tinted formula.

Living in humid Singapore, I found that the initial dewy finish can become slightly shiny after a few hours, especially on combination skin. However, setting it with a mattifying loose powder helps control shine effectively, making it wearable throughout the day.

Currently, I am using

This tinted sunscreen is formulated with a blend of advanced UV filters and skin-beneficial ingredients:
  • Detoxyl: An antioxidant complex that helps protect the skin from free radical damage caused by environmental stressors like pollution.
  • Mexoryl XL Filtering System: La Roche-Posay’s patented UV filter technology that provides enhanced protection against UVA, UVB, and long UVA rays, helping to prevent premature ageing and sun damage.
  • La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water: Known for its soothing and calming properties, making it suitable for sensitive skin.
With SPF 50+, this sunscreen blocks about 98% of UVB rays (the main cause of sunburn), while PA++++ offers extremely high UVA protection, which is crucial for preventing photoaging, pigmentation, and skin damage.

For reference, the PA rating system indicates the level of UVA protection:
  • PA+ = Some UVA protection
  • PA++ = Moderate UVA protection
  • PA+++ = High UVA protection
  • PA++++ = Extremely high UVA protection

This formula also contains 6 UV filters, ensuring comprehensive and stable sun protection making it a strong choice if you're looking for a high-protection tinted sunscreen with skincare benefits.

Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate : Often listed on sunscreen products as Octinoxate, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate (also called Octyl Methoxycinnamate) is used in products that are applied to the skin to absorb, reflect or scatter UV rays; it protects the skin from sunburn and other damaging effects of the sun. Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate also protects cosmetics and personal care products from deterioration caused by UV rays and allows them to last longer in high UV conditions.

Drometrizole Trisiloxane : Also known also by its trade name Mexoryl XL, this is a photostable UVA and UVB filter developed and patented by cosmetics company L’Oreal. Since its UVA protection peaks at 340 nanometers, it’s generally best to see this combined with other UV filters whose protection peaks further along the UVA range, which goes up to 400 nanometers.

Research has found that allergic reactions to drometrizole trisiloxane are considered rare; this UV filter is used in sun protection products sold in the EU, Canada, Australia, and Japan.

It is not currently in wide use in the United States because the U.S. Food and Drug Administration says there is not significant evidence yet showing it to be generally recognized as safe and effective for over-the-counter sunscreen use. Interestingly, the FDA has allowed L’Oreal to market a sunscreen in the U.S. that contains this filter.

Titanium Dioxide: A physical sun filter that protects against uv-B and uv-A and is tolerated well by sensitive skin types.

Terephthalylidene Dicamphor Sulfonic Acid : A  L'Oréal-group exclusive sunscreen agent commonly called Mexoryl SX. As opposed to most sunscreen agents, it is water soluble.

Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl BenzoateA new generation, chemical sunscreen agent with high UVA protection and high photostability. Also known as Uvinul A Plus.

Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine : A broad-spectrum ( full UVA and UVB protection ) chemical sunscreen agent which is also known as Tinosorb S. Hardly deteriorates in the presence of UV.

Aqua/Water, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Drometrizole Trisiloxane, Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Dimethicone, Titanium Dioxide, Alcohol Denate., Pentylene Glycol, CI7789/ Titanium Dioxide, Terephthalylidene Dicamphor Sulfonic Acid, Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate, Triethanolamine, Bis-ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine, Stearic Acid, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Aluminium Hydroxide, Butylene Glycol, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter Extract/ Shea Butter Extract, Caprylyl Glyco, Carbomer, Cetyl Alcohol, CI77492, CI77491/ Iron Oxides, Disodium EDTA, Glyceryl Stearate, Palmitic Acid, PEG-100 Stearate, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Cocoyl Sarcosinate, Tocopherol, Tromethamine, Xanthan Gum

Conclusion

To conclude, La Roche-Posay Uvidea Anthelios Melt-In Tinted Cream is a high SPF tinted sunscreen that delivers both sun protection and a natural, skin-evening finish. With SPF 50+ / PA++++, it offers strong daily defense against UV damage while giving the skin a subtle tint that helps to reduce redness and create a more even complexion.

That said, it works best as a supplement to your regular sunscreen routine rather than a standalone product, especially if you want to ensure you’re applying enough for full protection. The sheer coverage, single shade range, and dewy finish may not suit everyone, particularly those with deeper skin tones or very oily skin in humid climates.

If you prefer a lightweight, no-makeup look and don’t mind setting it with powder, this is a convenient option for effortless everyday wear. Think of it as your skin-enhancing sunscreen topper, ideal for busy mornings when you want protection with a touch of coverage, without committing to a full base.
