100% Pure Tomato Lycopene SPF 20 Moisturizer Review
Product Description
100% Pure Tomato Lycopene SPF 20 Moisturizer is perfect for protecting your skin from the sun's harmful rays as it is packed with the natural power of tomatoes and lycopene. While it doesn't blend well for the face for everyone, it is perfect for keeping your body moisturized and protected.

This product has been discontinued and I am one of those silly ones who purchased it and hated it. I am not even sure why it was formulated in the first place, as this was a terrible product. Perhaps just for me.

Even the description sounds like "okay I know my mistake but I will position it in another way so that I can sell the remaining stock" with its statement "While it doesn't blend well for the face for everyone, it is perfect for keeping your body moisturized and protected"

I purchased 100% Pure Tomato Lycopene SPF 20 Moisturizer at a 100% Pure Singapore bazaar and it was my biggest regret ever. I always love 100% Pure products so this came as a major disappointment.

Manufactured in USA, 100% Pure source pigments from fruit, vegetables, tea, cocoa, and minerals to avoid commonly used heavy metal dyes and lakes. They avoid animal-sourced ingredients and opt for vegan, cruelty-free alternatives and their products will always be certified cruelty-free

Packaging, Scent and Texture

100% Pure Tomato Lycopene SPF 20 Moisturizer Texture

100% Pure Tomato Lycopene SPF 20 Moisturizer is a 50ml product in a squeeze tube. It has a musty-like scent while the contents are white with a lightweight texture.

Performance and Ingredients

As a face moisturizer, it is now touted as a body moisturizer with SPF 20 with a lightweight, moisturizing formula that gives full coverage sun protection and antioxidant protection. Lycopene (tomato antioxidant) protects against smog, pollution, radiation, smoke, and other environmental toxins that generate damaging free radicals. Also contains olive squalane, coconut, and sunflower oils for moisturization.

Difference between Physical and Chemical Sunscreens

100% Pure Tomato Lycopene SPF 20 Moisturizer contains Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide, commonly found in physical sunscreens. It works by physically blocking (instead of reacting with) UVA and UVB rays.

A chemical sunscreen works by absorbing the sun’s UV rays. These chemicals react with UV rays right on the skin’s surface, and are turned into heat that is then released from your skin. The chemical reaction and heat release caused by chemical sunscreen can irritate skin and trigger the formation of dark spots.

According to 100% Pure, chemicals used in conventional sunscreens such oxybenzone, avobenzone, octisalate, octocrylene, homosalate, octinoxate have been linked to hormone disruption and skin allergies with prolonged use.

Lycopene, the active ingredient in tomatoes is a potent antioxidant that helps to heal sun damage and lessen the effects of sun sensitivity, along with redness and inflammation. It also contains aloe and green tea to bring similar benefits of toning and soothing hydration.

As a moisturizer, 100% Pure Tomato Lycopene SPF 20 Moisturizer wasn't moisturizing enough and there were flakiness on my nostrils by of the day. As a sunscreen, SPF20 was too little to provide adequate protection. It has a subtle white cast that minimizes after some massaging/blending.

This product was neither here nor there and I didn't know how I should position this product in my skincare routine since it failed in both aspects as a moisturizer and as a sunscreen. Adding on, it pills on most days and stayed tacky throughout the day, whether I paired it with Jumiso All Day Vitamin Brightening & Balancing Facial Serum or Geek & Gorgeous Stress Less. It pills occasionally with Dear Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Charging Serum.

Positioning it as a body moisturizer with sunscreen protection is a better alternative and I use it on the arms, although SPF20 is still too little to provide adequate protection as an initial application and the tackiness isn't desirable.

The key ingredients are ....

Conclusion

100% Pure Tomato Lycopene SPF 20 Moisturizer

To conclude, 100% Pure Tomato Lycopene SPF 20 Moisturizer was an impulse purchase. It was not moisturizing enough as a moisturizer and not protective enough as a sunscreen. It pills most of the time and feels tacky on skin.

Positioning it as a body moisturizer with sunscreen protection is a better alternative and I use it on the arms, although SPF20 is still too little to provide adequate protection as an initial application and the tackiness isn't desirable.
