Geek & Gorgeous Serums

I received several Geek & Gorgeous products from Worthee Cosmetics namely Stress Less, A-Game, B-Bomb, Calm Down and aPAD. It was a brand which I have been wanting to try but it was not easily available where I am so I am excited that Worthee Cosmetics carry them in their online store.

Hailing from Hungary, Geek & Gorgeous refers to geek formulas for gorgeous skin as the brand is said to maximize what is good for the skin and minimize everything else. Most of their products are Malassezia-safe, vegan and 100% cruelty-free. You can read about the founder behind the brand on their website

Worthee Cosmetics, located in Seremban, Malaysia is an online skincare store which curates several popular brands such as Timeless, Chemist Confessions, Geek & Gorgeous, just to name a few. You can read more about their journey on their website

Performance and Ingredients

Geek & Gorgeous Stress Less Beta Glucan Review

Stress Less is designed to improve sensitive, damaged, irritated or dehydrated skin with the combination of Beta-Glucan & Madecassoside, two supermolecules with remarkable skin soothing, repairing and hydrating abilities.

0.2% Beta-Glucan and 0.3% Madecassoside are formulated in this formula. While these numbers might not sound high, when it comes to these two actives, they are. Studies use Madecassoside from as low as 0.05% (shown to inhibit UV induced melanin production) or at 0.1% combined with 5% Vitamin C for anti-aging benefits. 0.2% of Madecassoside has remarkable barrier-supporting, skin moisturizing, as well as redness & itching reducing properties in atopic or psoriasis-prone skin.  In-vivo studies (made on real humans) by the manufacturer of Beta-Glucan show that the molecule improves skin barrier recovery used at 0.05%, while its moisturizing ability is as good as that of hyaluronic acid or even greater. Used at 0.1%, Beta-Glucan makes the skin firmer, smoother and more elastic.

This serum is suitable for everyone, but it is highly recommended for those whose skin is prone to dehydration, sensitivity, redness and irritation, or using strong actives (e.g. anti-acne such as benzoyl peroxide or anti-aging such as tretinoin) known to dry the skin or compromise the skin barrier.

Cruelty-free, vegan, fragrance & essential oil free, gluten-free, malassezia-safe and pregnancy-safe, Geek & Gorgeous Stress Less is my favourite serum out of all the 5 gifted products.

Having a combination skin type ( with surface dehydration ) and staying in humid Singapore, meant my skincare products need to be light yet hydrating without being greasy and Geek & Gorgeous Stress Less hits all the right notes.

I love the serum, being lightweight with a smooth medium consistency, absorbed well ( great for busy mornings ) and never tacky or greasy. I can layer the next product easily without worries about pilling or greasiness.

My skin is soft, supple, smooth and hydrated and one feel comforted that it can be used on irritated skin days too. Overall, my skin looked healthier and felt resilient.

Beta Glucan works pretty well for me so I was never worried when I started on this product. It also doubled up as a spot treatment for flaky spots - pouring a tiny bit of serum on a cotton bud and dabbing it on the flakiness on my nostrils and there were no more flakiness after 2 days.

That said, the PAO is 6 months so please use it up within 6 months after opening.

The key ingredients in Geek & Gorgeous Stress Less are....

Madecassoside : One of the main biologically active components of the famous medicinal plant Centella Asiatica, also known as Gotu Kola or Cica. It has well-established wound healing, skin soothing and antioxidant activities.

Beta-Glucan : A supermolecule coming from Oat that has intensive skin-repairing and wound healing properties, while being a great skin soother and moisturizer, even showing some anti-aging benefits. It is a large polysaccharide (sugar) molecule, somewhat similar in structure to Hyaluronic Acid hence showing similar (or some claim even greater) skin hydrating properties. While the larger beta-glucan fractions stay on the top of the skin to hydrate & smooth it, the smaller fractions penetrate deeply (even into the dermis, the middle layer of the skin) showing promising anti-aging benefits.

Saccharide Isomerate : A skin-idententical carbohydrate molecule that binds to the skin like magnet and keeps the skin hydrated longer than most other humectants.

Aqua (Water), Methyl Gluceth-20, Saccharide Isomerate, Glycerin, Madecassoside, Beta-Glucan, 1,2-Hexanediol, Citric Acid, Sodium Citrate, Caprylyl Glycol, Carbomer, Sodium Hydroxide, Ethylhexylglycerin, Phenoxyethanol

Where To Purchase : Worthee Cosmetics

Conclusion

To conclude, Geek & Gorgeous Stress Less is my favourite serum from Geek and Gorgeous so far, with its lightweight gel texture that absorbed fast, leaving soft, smooth, supple, hydrated skin that looked healthy and felt resilient.

I love this so much and may repurchase it. This serum is featured in my Top 20 Beauty Empties I Loved in 2023.
