In this post, I will be reviewing Somethinc 1% Pure Retinol + Squalane, Somethinc HOLYSHIELD! UV Watery Sunscreen Gel SPF 50+ PA++++ and HOLYSHIELD! UV Watery Sunscreen Shake Mist SPF46 PA++++.
Somethinc 1% Pure Retinol + Squalane is a 10x Advanced Retinol which contains the purest version of Retinol known as the Gold Standard to help prevent signs of premature aging. It is a potent and stable oil-based Retinol so it is not easily oxidized. Equipped with Squalane which is a Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF) that maintains skin elasticity. Use it at night and always use sunscreen in the morning.
How To Use :
1) Apply 3-5 pumps of serum into your palm.
2) Lightly press your palms onto your cleansed face and pat the serum in outwards and upwards motions until it is fully applied to your face and neck.
3) Wait for 1-3 minutes for the product to fully absorb.
4) Use 1-2 times a week for 1 month at night. If irritation does not occur, use the product every other day (day 1, day 3, etc.) & increase the intensity each day (daily) if the skin is getting used to Pure Retinol.
I am a retinol beginner as I haven't tried much so I was hesitant about using Somethinc 1% Pure Retinol + Squalane which is recommended for advanced level Retinol users. I have only tried Sisters By Pearry's First Care Essence and Skin Inc My Daily Dose Vitamin A so far, which had worked pretty well for me.
Somethinc 1% Pure Retinol + Squalane comes in a 20ml spritz dispenser bottle with an oil-based yellow serum-like texture. Using it twice a week has given me a smoother skin texture and my face looked fresh and glowing the following morning.
While I am usually not a fan of oil-based textured products but I love the effects that this 20ml bottle gave me. And I am so glad that I have not experienced any dry patches, instead it was gentle enough for my skin.
This is said to give youthful, brightening and glowing skin as it unclogs pores, blackheads and whiteheads and is suitable for acne and bumpy skin, yet gentle for sensitive and dry skin and indeed, the product does deliver with just 7 ingredients.
This is for night use only and do not layer this with Vitamin C, AHA, BHA or Benzoyl Peroxide. Wear a sunscreen in the morning.

How To Use :

Somethinc HOLYSHIELD! UV Watery Sunscreen Gel SPF 50+ PA++++ is housed in a 50gram tube with a flick top cap. The sunscreen has a white lotion texture that applies with a cooling sensation, however, it has an odd fruity milky scent which I am not a fan of.
The UV Watery Sunscreen Gel has a subtle shine and is layer-able without feeling overly greasy. Left my skin soft and smooth but it stung on dehydrated areas ( usually on my nostrils ) and on face at times.
With an SPF of 50 PA+++, this sunscreen helps to protect against UVA and UVB rays. An SPF 50 product protects you from 98 percent of UVB "burning" rays that penetrate your skin, while PA+++ offers high UVA protection..
The letters “PA” followed by plus signs on a label are a rating system developed in Japan to represent how much UVA protection the product offers.
This is what each PA rating means:
PA+ = Some UVA protection.
PA++ = Moderate UVA protection.
PA+++ = High UVA protection.
PA++++ = Extremely High UVA protection.

Somethinc HOLYSHIELD! UV Watery Sunscreen Shake Mist SPF46 PA++++ is a 50ml mist bottle that dispenses the sunscreen via misting.
It has an odd scent which I am not a fan of and the mist isn't as fine as I hoped for.
The shake mist has a milky texture that left whitish streaks on face after misting at times, hence I prefer to mist on palms and apply on skin for an even application. It left my skin velvety smooth with a greasy shine.
Overall, I won't repurchase this UV Watery Sunscreen Shake Mist.
