I redeemed a 8g sample size of Sunday Ridley C.E.O. Vitamin C Rich Hydration Cream with my Sephora points sometime back and had been using it recently. You can read my previous review on Sunday Ridley Good Genes Lactic Acid Treatment which was promising.
I had high hopes for this Sunday Ridley C.E.O. Vitamin C Rich Hydration Cream after hearing good things about it.
Sunday Riley C.E.O. is a line of vitamin C skin care products by clean beauty brand Sunday Riley where the brand's products exclude parabens, sulfate cleansers, phthalates, synthetic fragrances in facial skincare, mineral oil, TEA and petrolatum. It is double certified as a cruelty-free brand, by PETA and Leaping Bunny.
Packaging, Scent and Texture
The 8g tub size I owned comes in the same signature colour and shape, which is tiny and so adorable. It has a delicious citrus orange scent and the texture is buttery-creamy with a subtle oil base that separates slightly.
How To Use :
Apply to clean skin, once or twice a day, for luminous, moisturized skin. Works well for sensitive skin.
Tips :
- Apply in the morning to visibly brighten and provide anti-oxidant support.
- Apply at night to visibly repair the look and feel of dehydrated, sensitive, UV-B and pollution exposed skin.
Performance and Ingredients
Scientifically advanced and luxuriously hydrating, Sunday Riley’s C.E.O. Vitamin C Rich Hydration Cream is said to provide fast-absorbing moisturisation without a hint of greasiness – protecting during the day and repairing all night long.
It is enriched with potent, lipid-soluble, advanced vitamin C, which is more stable and less irritating than other vitamin C derivatives. This allows the moisturiser to visibly brighten your skin, supporting natural collagen production and expertly fighting the five visible signs of environmental and pollution-induced skin damage: sensitivity, dehydration, dullness, uneven tone, and premature lines and wrinkles.
When I first opened up the sample, I noticed that the oil has separated slightly from the cream and I wasn't sure if its usable, however since the smell and colour smelled/looked alright, I decided to use it after stirring the contents with a spatula as I believed it might be due to Singapore's humid weather.
Sunday Ridley C.E.O. Vitamin C Rich Hydration Cream has a buttery-creamy formula with a slightly oily feel and the lovely citrus scent was a joy. However, it tends to leave a slight oily sheen on my combination skin which isn't my cup of tea and also stings slightly on dehydrated areas.
While the cream left my skin soft and smooth but it isn't as hydrating as I prefer. My skin was rough and bumpy after switching to Sunday Ridley C.E.O. Vitamin C Rich Hydration Cream from The Skin House Vital Snail Cream.
At 8g, the size may be too small a quantity to judge for any brightening effects so I can only share my experience with 1 week use. I didn't use it beyond 1 week as I was still concerned about the oil-separation issue so I use it for my body thereafter.
Overall, I think this cream may suit dry skin better than dehydrated skin.

The key ingredients in C.E.O. Vitamin C Rich Hydration Cream are....
5% Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate : Tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate (THD) is a highly stable form of vitamin C that is considered an analogue of L-ascorbic acid. Enzymes within skin convert this form of vitamin C to pure vitamin C, ascorbic acid. The gold standard of Vitamin C. Powerful, stable, and highly targeted to prevent and repair the visible signs of premature skin aging, while being significantly less irritating than other forms of Vitamin C. Exopolysaccharides : From French Polynesian Kopara, these specialized exopolysaccharides help protect the skin from the visible effects of pollution exposure, by providing a shielding effect from PM 2.5 (the micropollution particles found in smog).
Lime Pearl extract : Extracted from the caviar lime, lime pearls are a natural source of AHA, for gentle skin exfoliation.
Bisabolol : Derived from chamomile, bisabolol helps to calm the look of reactive and sensitive skin. Often used in baby products for its skin soothing benefits.
Do note that the list contains a couple of citrus extracts that can be irritating, especially for sensitive skin.

Conclusion
Overall, Sunday Ridley C.E.O. Vitamin C Rich Hydration Cream isn't a great fit for my combination skin with surface dehydration. It is a little too heavy and oily for my combination skin, yet isn't as hydrating as what my skin surface dehydration requires.
It might work better for those with dry skin, rather than dehydrated skin.
If you are looking for a dupe with a lower price point, you can consider The Inkey List Vitamin C Brightening Cream, however, in terms of Vitamin C, do note that Sunday Riley is THD ascorbate based while The Inkey List contains L-Ascorbic Acid.
