My husband's hair has been getting slightly thinner in volume so we have been looking out for a hair loss shampoo. After using up 5 bottles of Madre Labs Thickening Shampoo, the formula no longer worked as well as in the past and O'right Caffeine Shampoo comes into the picture, after being recommended by a female colleague. She has experienced hair growth at both sides of her temples.
We were told that the O'right Caffeine Shampoo is suitable for both males and females and bought a 400ml bottle ( from Organic Hair Professional ) home to try. It costs $52. Made in Taiwan, the shampoo is made up of 96.3% natural ingredients and is sulphate-free, gluten-free and SLS-free.
O'right is a green brand ( green headquarters ), with the concept of Natural, Pure and Eco-friendly and has received numerous awards since 2009. You can read more about it here and the green certifications here.
Their products are recognized for the 8 FREE while their bottles are 100% biodegradable and using PLA, an ecofriendly plastic material made from plant wastes. The bottle can be buried in the soil, decompose under proper environmental conditions and become fertilizer within 1 year.
The bottle design features seeds embedded at the bottom, where it will sprout and grow after the bottle breaks down.
This also explains why the bottle cap is using bamboo as it is a sustainable material, being the fastest growing plant on earth.
The Recoffee Series, like the O'right Caffeine Shampoo, uses the extracted coffee oil from recycled coffee grounds to minimize wastage while the coffee seeds in the bottle will sprout into a coffee tree after buried in the soil. You can read more about the process here.
I am truly impressed by the green efforts from O'right which probably also explained why the cost is slightly higher than other brands.
Caffeine, as shown through research studies here and here, is “a stimulator of human hair growth” and hopefully, there would be more products to help improve and strengthen hair strands to minimize hair loss.
For now, we would be concentrating on O'right Caffeine Shampoo which has a subtle scent but does not really smell like coffee. It nourishes and conditions the hair, making my husband's hair softer, smoother and detangle his ends ( he used to have frizzy and tangled hair ends while using Madre Labs Thickening Shampoo ).
However, the formula was alittle too mild as his hair turned oily within a day to which I agreed as I have tried the shampoo too. I also noticed that I have to wash my hair more frequently than before I started using it.
That said, my husband has not experience any hair growth yet, but it might be too soon to conclude as its only been 1 month. We will report back if there are any new findings.
