Luxasia Warehouse Sale + Strawberrynet Haul + Sephora Sale
Friday, October 31, 2014
There was a Luxasia warehouse sale recently and I have been pretty disciplined in getting the products since they are not natural and some of their products are about 9 months away from their expiry dates. However, if you do not mind and think that you can use up the contents within their stipulated period, then their warehouse sale is certainly worth a visit.
Aveda Be Curly Curl Enhancing Hair Spray $13
La Clinica Soothing Moisture Replenishing Mask $10
Decleor Life Radiance Flash Radiance Mask $37
Yves Rocher Anti-Slackening Supra Lift Mask $15
Payot Comforting Repairing Care Mask $33
Marc Anthony Strictly Curls Cream $19.90 less 20% ( from Watsons )
Bliss Love Handler $25.50 ( from Strawberrynet )
Talika Eye Dream $30.50 ( from Strawberrynet )
There was a Sephora 20% discount sale and I was won over by the promoter at "My Beloved One" (with her product knowledge) which lead me to some purchases.
For Beloved One Soothing Cleansing Liquid $28.80 (down from $36)
For Beloved One Red Wine Antioxidant Night Jelly $62.40 (down from $78)
Fresh Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask $70.40 (down from $88)
For Beloved One Eye Mask (complimentary)
In the month of October, there were some promotions on organic/natural products which made me pick up an eye mask from Breathe at Adonica Kube. A relatively unknown brand, I am attracted to the eye mask and decided to get it since there is a 15% discount. The website did not state the size but I definitely didn't expect it to be just 15ml when I self-collect from the store. On the site, it states as $66.60 but in the store, it is at $67, which is not very ethically brought up, when I emailed to the site to ask if it is possible to self-collect since I don't see any point in paying $7 for shipping.
I am actually pretty disappointed with the level of service in the store. The lady, despite knowing I am there to get an eye mask ( after being informed by her boss via email ) has a difficult time in locating the eye mask and told me there is no such product initially. Thereafter she lets me try an eye balm, then told me she mistakenly thought that was the product I wanted. Next, she is not trained in using the cashier and has to enlist the help from another lady in another shop. Finally, she has forgotten to input the 15% discount when I have reminded her about it, prior to the purchase.
At 15ml, as an eye mask, I thought it is way over-priced but I certainly hope the quality will be worth its very penny. She has provided me a cleanser and a mask sachet sample where the cleanser sachet won me over with its gentle texture and I promptly put in a request for an order.
With that order, I thought I will just provide a feedback to the store, as I personally feel that it will be waste for good products not to get out to consumers due to a lack of product training.
I am certainly not expecting any further replies other than the usual thank you because that is what the norm is and at worst, no replies at all. However, I am bowled over by the excellent service and attitude I received via email, the best I ever receive so far. Making an effort to clarify, despite I am being just that one single customer who bought 2 products only - that the lady was a relief staff and that the price difference was due to the updates being done wrongly by their IT support. Offering free delivery as well as recommending their product expert to explain products on the phone, should I require it. I am now a satisfied and happy customer. Certainly hoping that all other brands can follow through with such excellent commitment to customers.

Review : Fancl Deep Moisture Lotion
Thursday, October 30, 2014
Product Description
Deeply hydrates skin while creating a veil to keep skin dewy and supple. Increases skin's ability to retain moisture and improve skin firmness, radiance and softness.
Fancl Deep Moisture Lotion is part of the Beauty Selection Box ( containing Deep Moisture Lotion, Beauty Concentrate and Moist and Vital Mask ) which I purchased from Fancl at $80. The 30ml lotion is housed in a semi-clear bottle with a pump dispenser that dispenses the contents.
Meant to be used before the Beauty Concentrate, the lotion spreads thinly and hydrates the skin, creating a layer of veil on top. My skin feels soft and supple though I have yet to see any firmness or radiance despite using it every morning for the past 1.5 months.

Conditioner Product Description

Organic Argan Oil, Argan Stem Cells + CoQ10 help support hair keratin and strengthen the follicle connection. Organic Fair Trade Certified Cocoa Butter provides moisture. Safe for color treated hair. Gluten free, Sulfate free, Paraben free, Phthalate free, Cruelty free and Vegan
After hearing good things about the brand, I promptly picked upAcure Organics Lemongrass + Argan Stem Cell Shampoo and Conditioner from Iherb. You can quote OKI787 to get up to US$10 off your first purchase in Iherb.
Seeing that it is a clarifying shampoo, I thought it will be one of those clarifying shampoo in the market where it will be harsh on the hair and is recommended to be used once or twice a week, to get rid of all the styling products build-up. However, Acure Organics Lemongrass + Argan Stem Cell Shampoo is certainly not so, and is touted to be gentle enough for everyday use.
Housed in a pliable soft tube with a flick-top opening, the hint of lemongrass scent is refreshing. The shampoo with its fluid contents lathers slightly and like what it states, it is indeed gentle, but too gentle for my likes as it failed to cleanse my hair properly, with all the hair mousse and wax still tangible in my hair. I even try washing my hair twice but the outcome is still the same.
On normal hair without wax and mousse, the shampoo cleanses well, in its mild gentle way and is best for everyday use. To say that it is a clarifying shampoo, it will be a disappointment because it is certainly not capable of that.
Slightly creamier in texture, with a heavier lemongrass and citrus scent, the Acure Organics Lemongrass + Argan Stem Cell conditioner helps to detangle and make the hair smooth when there is no product build-up after using the shampoo. My hair feels and appears less frizzy with shampoo in use.

Review : Etude House Correct & Care CC Cream SPF30 PA++
Sunday, October 26, 2014
Product Description
Etude House Correct and Care CC Cream 8 in 1 is a multi functional skin correcting cream that creates a flawless complexion. It hydrates, primes, conceals, treats, and protects skin; everything you would need for perfect skin, in one product! Not only does it offer anti-aging benefits, it relieves stressed/reddened skin, whitens, has SPF30 PA ++, and provides natural coverage with either a matte (01 Silky) or dewy (02 Glow) finish
Requested a friend to get the CC cream for me when she was in Korea as it is much cheaper over there. It costs me 14000won. At 35ml, it takes a long time for it to be used up. I have been using it for 6 months now, mainly on weekday mornings before I left for work. I tend to use it after sunscreen, because SPF30 in Singapore is still not enough, and one doesn't apply enough to get the full SPF30 protection that is much needed on our skin.
Etude House Correct & Care CC Cream SPF30 PA++ provides anti-aging benefits, hydrates, smoothens, brightens and has UV protection for the skin. Available in both silky and glowing finishing, I bought mine in 01 which is the silky formula as I thought a glowing formula may be too much for wearing to office.
The silky formula, as what it claims, has a smooth and silky finishing, without any shimmers on it. It has a light silicon-laden texture, with a lightweight consistency. White in colour, the CC cream oozes out from the pump dispenser easily and for a fleeting moment, I thought I may look too "white".
Despite being white in colour, the CC cream actually has some tiny black dots in it which seemed to be color capsules that will change colour to fit your skin tone.
So my concerns on turning too pale were unfounded, as the formula changes colour once it gets into contact with the skin and blended well, turning it into a tinted shade with a pink undertone.
With a sheer coverage, it doesn't quite conceal redness or blemishes but helps to even out the skin tone, leaving your skin looks better. So I would not recommend it for those who are looking for heavy coverage or those who require blemishes to be covered.
On my fair skin, with slight redness on the chin area, it brightens up my skin slightly and while it brings a healthy glow to my skin but on redness, it just doesn't do anything to it. The oil control is moderately well as my combination skin oils up after 5 to 6 hours which is normal for me.
The product scored 2.7 from 12 users on Makeupalley.

Review : Tahpre Dream Cream
Friday, October 24, 2014
Product Description
Stop the clock on aging skin with Dream Cream. An aspiration for keeping your skin ever so smooth and youthful.
The most effective anti-ageing cream in the market. Contains Peptide complexes which works similarly to botox- naturally relaxing facial tension, leading to the relaxation of facial muscles that contribute to lines and wrinkles and on top of that simulating cell growth. Complemented with Lecithin which works as an effective delivery agent to improve penetration the Dream Cream is one of a kind.
Also contains potent natural hydrating compounds such as Hyaluronic Acid, Polyglutamic acid and Beeswax, organic natural oils (Meadowfoam and Jojoba oil), Arubtin (effective whitening agent) and Adensine (good for crows feet and forehead wrinkles)
A male colleague, seeing the lines under my eyes, kindly decant some contents of Tahpre Dream Cream into a tiny tub for me to try it out. His girlfriend had bought a few tubs, after hearing how it contains a high concentration of peptides in it, which is good for the skin.
While they use it for the face, I only use it for the undereye area, hoping for some miracles. In fact, Tahpre Dream Cream can be use on any part of the body that requires firming like the eyes, mouth or neck. Just remember to pat and massage gently for it to be absorbed.
Prior to using this dream cream, I have never hear of the brand. Made in Korea, Tahpre Dream Cream is touted to be free of parabens, artifical perfumes and dyes, mineral oils and artifical preservatives in any of their products.
The dream cream looks creamy but is almost lightweight when applied on skin. Emollient in texture, it glides well on the undereye area without any greasiness after-feel. Containing 10% peptides, it can help to firm the area but despite using it for the past 5 months, I fail to see any significant improvement to my undereye area. While it appears to hydrate the area when it is applied, it did not increase the level of hydration which my undereye area badly needs. However, the undereye area does feel smooth so long it is applied.
A 50ml size retails for $65.90 in BHG Singapore.

Review : Estee Lauder Micro Essence Skin Activating Lotion
Wednesday, October 22, 2014
Product Description
Micro and mighty. This groundbreaking essence-in-lotion activates and strengthens skin’s foundation to reveal its youthful, angelic glow. Micro and mighty. This groundbreaking essence-in-lotion activates and strengthens skin’s foundation to reveal its youthful, angelic glow. Recommended for all skin types, it delivers energy and vitality, fights visible aging, deeply hydrates, and promotes smooth, supple skin.
MICRO TARGETED: penetrates deeply and rapidly within skin’s surface to renew and rebalance.
MICRO NOURISHING: delivers a precise concentration of exclusive Micro-Nutrient Bio-Ferment to nourish and energize.
MICRO ACTIVE: Activates multiple natural pro-youth abilities to replenish skin.
Usage :
With a cotton pad: Gently glide saturated cotton pad over face, from the center out. Start at chin and move upwards to cheeks and forehead. Do not apply pressure during application.
With your hands: Pour 5 or 6 drops of Micro Essence in hand and rub hands together. Gently press the Micro Essence into skin from the center out. Start at chin and move upwards to cheeks and forehead.Rub hands together to warm, and then gently wrap face using warm hands to complete application.
Recommended for those who are battling with dryness and dehydration and those looking for smooth and supple skin as well as those whose skin is lacking energy and vitality, this Micro Essence Skin Activating Lotion claims to micro target, micro nourish and micro active in their dermatologist-tested, ophthalmologist-tested, non-acnegenic and fragrance-free formula.
Every time Estee Lauder comes up with a new product, they are generous enough to produce sample sizes for users who are interested in trying them, so I opted for a 15ml size to use it for a week.
Micro Essence Skin Activating Lotion is a toner, to be used before serum and moisturizer. In using the lotion, which you can apply with a cotton pad or palms, it helps other products that goes after the lotion, to better penetrate the skin, boosting its efficacy. I usually use it with a cotton pad, as with all lotions.
Thinner than a lotion but thicker than a water-based toner, the Estee Lauder Micro Essence Skin Activating Lotion has a slightly sticky base that stays on top of the skin after application, which is why I prefer to use a cotton pad that goes all over the skin, spreading it thinly. It has a light fermented scent, somehow like SKII but not as overpowering.
Within a few minutes after application, the lotion gets absorbed into skin, making it feels hydrated and bouncy, keeping it plumped, smooth and supple. However, I didn't see any significant improvement in refined texture, even toned skin or youthful radiance after a week's usage.
Ingredients :
Water/Aqua/Eau, Bifida Ferment Lysate, PEG-75, Propanediol, Butylene Glycol, Betaine, Pentylene Glycol, Betaine, Pentylene Glycol, Lactobacillus Ferment, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Acetyl Glucosamine, Trehalose, Caffeine, Sodium Hyaluronate, Anthemis Nobilis (Chamomile), Caprylyl Glycol, Carbomer, PPG-5-Ceteth-20, Citric Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Citrate, Triomethmine, Disodium EDTA, Phexoxyethanol

Review : Devita Solar Protective Moisturizer SPF 30+
Monday, October 20, 2014
Product Description
Sunshine Go Away Today... And it will with DeVita's feather-light, never heavy, oily or greasy mineral sun screen. It's hard to believe that our all-natural mineral sun screen is a light moisturizer and sun screen all in one - but it is! DeVita's exclusive formulation is created specifically for those sensitive to breakouts.
This moisturizer is light enough to wear under make-up, and absorbs quickly. Offering broad spectrum UVA/UVB sun protection with a SPF of 30+. Safe for adults and children, plus reef friendly too. Titanium Dioxide Free.
A new brand in my radar comes this DeVita Solar Protective Moisturizer SPF 30+ which I purchased from Iherb for US$20.40. Good for 24 months once opened, I have been using it on-off for the past 11 months, not that 75ml is alot but rather, the texture has been quite a disappointment.
It has a high concentration level of 19% zinc oxide which offers pretty good protection against UVA and UVB rays. 100% vegan and paraben free, this product is also considered gluten sensitive safe and there is no nano technology involved.
Housed in a white opaque tube, it dispenses the contents through a small gap via some light depression. The texture of the white moisturizer may seems light but actually requires much blending in order to get it absorbed into the skin.
What irks me, is that it balls up and produces mini round balls during rubbing which is inevitable when I try to blend it on skin, so I stopped using it as a moisturizer. The flakes just get all over my skin and I have to spend more time trying to remove those balls from my skin which is totally annoying! On top of that, it is not exactly hydrating (despite containing Hyaluronic Acid) and feels heavy on face so I have been using it as a body moisturizer instead, applying on the neck, arms and hands. However, it doesn't meant that the issue disappeared, just that I need to apply it before dressing up, because the tiny white balls tend to fall over my clothes making it a messy affair.
DeVita Solar Protective Moisturizer SPF 30+ scored 3.4 from 119 users on Makeupalley.

Review : Dr. Hauschka Rose Day Cream Light
Saturday, October 18, 2014
Product Description
All the protective, fortifying qualities of Rose Day Cream in a lightweight formulation; perfect for sensitive skin or use in warmer weather. Rose Day Cream Light nourishes, hydrates and protects dry, sensitive skin for a calm, even and balanced complexion.
- Precious rose water, rose wax and extracts of rose, marsh mallow and anthyllis protect, calm and balance the skin
- Marsh mallow root extract with avocado, sesame and sweet almond oils hydrate, carrying essential moisture to skin
Also known as rose hydrosol, it is derived from the condensed steam produced during distillation of rose essential oil. The oily component is the essential oil and the watery portion is the rose distillate. Rose distillate is rich in water-soluble compounds beneficial for skin, particularly for soothing sensitive skin while helping harmonize and balance skin.
Dr. Hauschka Skin Care has been 100% natural for over 45 years and is certified natural by NATRUE, a non-profit, international association founded by the pioneers of natural and organic cosmetics.
NATRUE certification ensures that a product has met the strongest criteria available for natural and organic ingredients in cosmetics and is free of synthetic preservatives, fragrances, dyes and petroleum derived synthetics
I received a 5g sample of the Rose Day Cream Light during my last Lovelula product purchase. After hearing much raves about their Rose Day Cream, I am glad to get a chance to try it out. I have been using it as a day cream in the morning after Fancl Deep Moisture Lotion and Beauty Concentrate.
The rose day cream light has a light rose fragrance with a light texture that left a light moisturizing veil on the skin without being greasy.
According to Paula, the product consists mainly of water, sesame oil and alcohol. And the rose flower water and extract adds fragrance which is a potential irritant. Other fragrance components like eugenol can be irritating for skin and problematic in the presence of sunlight.
Personally, I feel that this moisturizer is too light, probably suitable for those with oily skin as it fails to hydrate sufficiently on my combination and dehydrated skin. I don't see any improvement even though I have been using it for the past month.
The product scored 3.9 from 61 users on Makeupalley.

Review : Fancl Nail Color Remover
Thursday, October 16, 2014
Product Description
Remove nail color gently without causing dryness and other nail troubles. Contain Nail Emollient Oil which supplies healthy oil to protect weak nails from chipping
While on the search for a healthier alternative for nail removers, I came across Fancl and decided to give it a try. As with all Fancl products, it is said to be free of preservatives, sterilisers, petroleum, surfactants, fragrances and mineral oil under their FSS ( Fancl Safety Standard ).
This nail color remover has a typical nail remover scent and even though it is stated as alcohol free in their description as shown below, the 3rd ingredient in the list is stated as alcohol so I am confused on their terminology.
Unlike the normal nail color removers, this product has a heavy moisturizing veil that may be deemed as oily as it leaves a greasy stain after each usage. It is definitely non-drying but I thought the greasy stains can be quite messy on the floor and where your feet or fingers land. Just be reminded to wash your hands and feet thoroughly.
Initially it seems to cleanse my nail colours pretty well though it does get difficult on glitters which is pretty common. As time goes by, the effectiveness seemed to have fallen though.
Review : Dr. Morita Hyaluronic Acid Eye Patch
Tuesday, October 14, 2014
Product Description
Dr. Morita Hyaluronic Acid Eye Patch provides as much as 24 hours of continuous hydration to leave skin dewy soft and hydrated with improved elasticity. Revolutionary hydrating ingredients that help keep skin bright and fair. Gently place the masks around eyes after cleaning, skin will look and feel smoother and softer with renewed clarity and an enviable fairness. The triumvirate of Hyaluronic Acid, Algae Extract and Collagen reverse signs of skin dryness while keeping skin soft and dewy.
Key Ingredients :
Containing 6 individually packed sheets in each box, each pair of eye masks is layered within a protective layer. Very much soaked in essence, the large piece of eye mask is such a generous treat for the eyes as each pair covers way up to the crow feet area and down to the upper cheeks area, on the same level as my nose.
Made in Taiwan, I enjoyed using the eye masks as it relaxes the eyes with a cooling refreshing feel but there is no visible improvement to the undereye area even though its touted to reduce puffiness and prevent dark circles. It just feels very comfortable like a spa treat for the eyes.

- Jojoba and avocado oils nourish and hydrate the skin
- Geranium essential oil hydrates and tones the skin
Exclusive innovation: APIVITA replaces water in the express beauty line with green tea infusion to enhance the antioxidant action.

Free of: Parabens and Propylene Glycol.
Containing 95% natural ingredients, the 2x8ml sachets allows me to use for up to 6 times, as I decant the contents into a small tub. With a light soothing cucumber scent, this light thin runny mask texture makes application on the face looks like it is hardly there as it tends to disappear after awhile.
It cools the skin and provides a refreshing feel, however it fails to hydrate my skin. It stings on flakiness and produces a slightly hot sensation where the flakiness is, but goes off after 5 minutes. It is not something I would repurchase. Review : Lacvert White Tea White Mask
Friday, October 10, 2014
Product Description
Formulated with plentiful essence to promote liveliness and vitality for skin as well as brightening skin complexion
LACVERT takes its name from the French words "lac" and "vert", meaning "green lake". The brand belongs to the LG Household and Healthcare group alongside brands like The FaceShop, The History of Whoo and Elastine. All LACVERT products are made in South Korea.
This is my first foray into the brand, a brand which I have never heard of prior to receiving a sheet of this mask from a good friend. You can check out their range of masks here.
Made of a soft and thick fabric-like material, the sheet mask is nicely soaked with essence that helps to provide a soft, smooth and supple feel to my skin. The brightening effect is not that visible though. The cutting is moderately well and it comes with eye flaps, which is a bonus treat for the eyes.

Review : Crabtree & Evelyn Evelyn Rose Ultra Moisturising Hand Therapy
Wednesday, October 8, 2014
Product Description
Beautifully soften and enrich hands with our award winning, shea butter-rich Evelyn Rose Hand Therapy formulated with ceramides 3 and 6II and blends choice ingredients to reduce moisture loss while promoting your skin’s hydration level to leave hands noticeably smoother and supple with each use.
Infused with macadamia nut oil, shea butter and the conditioning extracts of rosa hybrid and rosa gallica, this intensive cream is said to nourish skin with hydrating ceramides and antioxidant-rich vitamin E and conditioning nails and cuticles with myrrh extract. It is formulated without mineral oil, parabens, phthalates or propylene glycol.
Housed in an aluminum pink tube with a feminine feel, the cream oozes out from the tube easily. Due to its pliable tube material, it also meant that any depression on the tube will create ugly dents or creases which may not be a pleasant sight when its nearing the end.
It has a lovely rose scent which may please the majority but I thought it was slightly overpowering though it dissipates with time. The texture is soft with a medium consistency that gets absorbed into my hands without any greasiness or stickiness. It moisturizes my hands moderately well in my air conditioned office.

Review : Fancl Vital & Moist Mask
Monday, October 6, 2014
Product Description
Facial mask with Hyaluronic Acid and HTC Collagen for intense hydration and firming effect. Leave skin moist and supple
I purchase the Fancl Precious Beauty Selection for $80 earlier this year which contains Deep Moisture Lotion, Beauty Concentrate and Moist and Vital Masks. In the box, it contains 3 sheets of Vital and Moist Mask sheets with 18ml goodness each.
With a plastic smooth-like material, the texture is unlike those I came across in the market. It feels plastic-y. The cutting of the Vital and Moist mask is smaller but adheres well. It has a milky essence and hydrates sufficiently well and gives my skin a soft and supple feel under the humid weather in Bangkok.

Saturday, October 4, 2014
Product Description
An enhanced lotion containing minerals derived from deep seawater and seaweed, with added Sasa Kurilensis water, minerals from a low-striped bamboo found only in Hokkaido . This lotion is made of moisturizing hyaluronic acid and chondroitin. This soothing anti-bacterial formula heals pimples and refines pores to reveal a clearer complexion. It gets absorbed quickly, and leaves a clean and fresh feeling.
Key Ingredients :
Minerals Derived From Deep Seawater: Minerals extracted from the deep seawater of the Atlantic Ocean and purified. Because they are ionized and water soluble, they easily penetrate the skin, helping to relieve skin fatigue and improve metabolism.
Seaweed: Extracted from brown algae from the Atlantic Ocean and the waters around Central and South America. Seaweed contains amino acids, vitamins, and minerals which all help to refine the skin.
Sasa Kurilensis water: Water derived from a low-striped bamboo, Sasa Kurilensis water is a natural mineral essence. It has moisturizing, antiseptic and sterilizing effects, and is an excellent aid for removing bacteria that exist in the skin.
Hyaluronic Acid and Chondroitin: Hyaluronic acid leaves the skin moisturized, fresh, and healthy because of its moisture-retention ability - 1g of hyaluronic acid can hold as much as 6l of water. When combined with chondroitin, it helps to moisturize the skin even more.
During my last HABA purchase, I received a sachet of the G lotion that is a hydrating lotion to be used after the White Lady and before the moistuiser. Odourless and colourless, it feels and looks like water that is supposed to hydrate my skin but I feel that it is nothing spectacular. Just a gentle alcohol-free lotion with medicore performance. Light, cooling and refreshing.
This G lotion scores 3.3 from 17 users on Makeupalley.
