Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation Shade 20

I received a 1.3ml sample after a good friend of mine purchased several Chanel lipsticks. The sample allowed me to use for about 5 times. Chanel Healthy Glow Foundation SPF25 / PA++ has a medium to high coverage and smoothens out my skin tone and minimizes the blemishes and redness.

It has a semi matte finishing and is able to last for more than 10 hours without any oxidisation. The coverage still looks as good as when I first apply it. Oil control is slightly better than expected, where my T-zone oiled up after about 6 hours.

Honestly speaking, I didn't see the "glow" which the name implies but I am fine with it. Sometimes, its difficult to find a balance between radiance and coverage as I noticed most products which claimed to "glow" tends to be too sheer for what I need to cover for my skin since I don't use a concealer.

To conclude, I like the semi-matte finishing and the coverage of Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation. Adding on a highlighter and blusher and I am good to go.

Review : Lunasol Modeling Water Liquid Foundation SPF17 PA+ (OC01)

Lunasol Foundation

Product Description
The incredible succulent texture of this foundation, with approximately 55% water composition, is so lightweight on the skin that it does not even feel like a foundation. Spreads evenly and covers visible pores and rough textures, bestowing resilience and an elegant glow to the skin. Resistant to sweat and sebum and keeps the skin without the signs of dullness, even after hours.
During the previous Kanebo sale, I picked up this 25ml liquid foundation with the lightest shade at OC01 for $25. This is an old product which has since been replaced by other formulations. I am a skincare junkie, not exactly a make-up wannabe so I go through make-up pretty slow.

At only SPF17 PA+, this is just an added bonus but it can never replace your usual suncare protection because SPF17 is barely enough to protect the skin under the scorching sun in Singapore.

This liquid foundation comes in a rectangular-shaped frosty glass bottle, with a rose gold coloured cap ( a reflective surface that is a light fingerprint magnet ) that gives a hint of understated luxury feel. A pump dispenser dispenses the foundation effortlessly without any messiness on the palms though it does pool slightly around the nozzle and inner cap.

I like it for being water-based because most liquid foundation can be pretty drying so when I was at the sale, I was actually looking out for its highly raved water gel foundation but it wasn't on sale, hence this was my next bet.

The range comes in 6 shades where Ocher refers to OC01 to OC4 while Yellow Ocher refers to YO02 and YO03. Ocher is for neutral skin tones and Yellow Ocher is for yellow and olive skin tones.
The promoter chose OC01 for my fair skin and it blends well with my skin tone.

With its water-based formula, you will be glad to know that the formula is not heavy or thick, in fact, it is lightweight and runny. One spritz is just enough for my entire face so one bottle can actually lasts a pretty long while.

It spreads well and dries pretty quickly so you need to blend it fast. It has a sheer to medium coverage with a semi-matte finishing. The oil-control is moderately well for me, I need to blot occasionally though it largely depends on my skin condition at that time, on optimal skin condition, there were times that I don't need to blot my skin at all, despite having a combination skin type.
The liquid foundation is moisturizing enough for me, without the fear of cakiness and the end result is just natural. With a slight brightening effect, it also made my skin tone looks more even.

In terms of ingredients, it has a long list and in it, there are quite a few of the Dirty Dozens like parabens , mineral oil, talc while alcohol is the 4th ingredient in it.

Review : Lancome Maqui Blanc Miracle Natural Brightening Creator P0-03

Product Description
The Aura Bright technologies
- Light System amplifies the diffusion of light to reveal the vibrant translucency of a fresh pure complexion
- Optic pink pigment generates a pinkish light that corrects dullness. To create a natural healthy looking glow.
- Optic blue pigment generates a bluish light that neutralizes yellow tones and reinforces the appearance of complexion freshness and purity

Less fillers to create poreless smooth, with Glucose Complex and Volatils Ingredients, pure skin tone stays for all day with lasting finish. Sweat-Humidity Resist High SPF26 PA/++ for fluid

The 5ml sample was part of the 2012 Christmas Coffret set which I purchased during the Christmas season. P0-03 shade provided is the cool tone range which matches my skin tone.
Runny yet concentrated in texture, it blends effortlessly onto the skin without any traces. It has a sheer to medium coverage which works well for me, on most days. On days which I have big angry red zits, it will require more concealing with a concealer.

As what the product claims, it is supposed to brighten up my skin, giving an inner glow as well as being long-wearing with its sweat-humidity resistant claim.
On my combination skin with surface dehydration, this liquid foundation is not hydrating enough and tend to emphasize the flakiness on my bad skin days. However it does brighten up my skin, giving it a nice illusion of flawless skin on my good skin days ( read: well-moisturized skin ). On good skin days, the foundation lives up to its claim of being long-wearing, with hardly much dabbing on the oiliness on my T-zone.

Review : Christian Diorskin Nude Skin Glowing Makeup SPF 15

Product Description
A hydrating fluid foundation that delivers just the right amount of coverage to create a naturally flawless, bare-skin effect
Diorskin Nude boasts 100 percent natural active ingredients and an extended shade range to create a shine-free, natural glow without masking the skin's texture. With continued use, it improves the natural radiance and beauty of the skin day after day.

This formula is composed of a mineralized water enriched with an exclusive and natural floral water that offers hydration, radiance, and elasticity to the skin. Unlike most foundations that use opaque pigments and create a mask-like effect, Diorskin Nude Foundation uses exclusive Nude-Glow pigments that are translucent. They allow the skin's natural radiance and color to shine through, appearing luminous in any light.

I was given shade 20 in two 3ml sizes because they have run out of lighter shades. Despite the shade looking darker than my skin tone, it matches well to my skin tone, after the base shade 001 application.

Compared to the previous one I owned, this liquid foundation is much more runny with a lightweight creamy texture and provides a better hydrating ability. I prefer using this, together with the base, if I have dehydrated skin on that day so that the flakiness will not be so obvious. It neither sits on the dry patches nor clings on them.

I am so impressed with the pairing of this liquid foundation together with the base, that I may just run out to get the full retail size!

The formula is moisturizing and blends into the skin effortlessly, giving a barely there, but a dewy radiant look. It has a luminous sheer to medium coverage. Less is more, and will be best suited for those with lesser blemishes.

I usually applies my liquid foundation with my fingers and likes how it brightens up my overall complexion naturally without that "make-up" look. While it does not oxidise and is long-wearing but the oil-controlling ability is only moderately well. I need to dab on the oiliness near the wings of my nose, as I usually does by afternoon.

In terms of ingredients, it contains Titanium Dioxide at 4.35% and Octinoxate at 3% as its active ingredients to provide the SPF 15 protection which is too little, under our hot humid weather.
To top it off, it also contains a high amount of alcohol, as the 3rd ingredient in its list, which could potentially irritates skin, damages healthy collagen production, stimulates oil production at the base of the pore and making oily skin worse, according to Paula.

It scores 4.1 from 46 users on Makeupalley.

Christian Dior Skin Refining Pro Lighting Makeup Base FPS 20 SPF PA+

Product Description
The 1st skin-refining makeup base by Dior that prepares the skin for foundation application, improves its hold and instantly illuminates the complexion, like the enhancing lighting of a professional photographer. The ideal complement to Diorskin foundations, Radiant Base helps assimilate their skincare ingredients: the skin is beautified and the makeup result is enhanced

I received 2 complimentary samples from the Dior counter when they were unable to fix the dispenser on its previous liquid foundation bottle. I was slightly miffed on that, because it is supposed to be of a better brand, compared to other liquid foundations I owned. I should be expecting higher quality, coming from Dior, but instead it failed on me.

001 Radiant Rose is the shade that the promoter picks for me to fit my tone.
Note that there are only 2 shades available.
- 001 rosy shade to enhance the radiance of the "blue" skin tones
- 002 golden shade for "yellow" skin tones

This make-up base contains "Halo Pearls", a combination of soft focus pigments and transparent pearly particles with the ability to evenly diffuse the light in all directions. Skin texture is touted to be instantly refined and imperfections are blurred. Facial features seem reshaped by interplays of shadow and light to reveal a complexion that flows with beauty.

From the swatch above, you can see that its a rosy pink shade that is light and sheer once applied to skin. It provides a subtle radiance to the skin and matches Dior liquid foundation very well. I am currently using its Nude Skin Glowing Make-up liquid foundation and really like the fresh look with a subtle glow.

There is a slight smooth silicon feel which made the skin smoother and silkier before one piles on the liquid foundation. Even though there is no patchiness after application but it has a moderate oil-control that is not worthy to mention about.

Review : Christian Dior 'Diorskin Nude' Natural Glow Hydrating Makeup

Product Description
A natural hydrating liquid foundation. Diorskin Nude Natural Glow Hydrating Makeup SPF 10 blends 100% natural mineral pigments with Dior's exclusive, active mineralized water to deliver flawless, glowing skin that actually improves over time. By using advances in mineral makeup technology, this product will take your complexion to a whole new level.
As fresh as water, this silky foundation envelops your skin in a precious halo of freshness and well-being that leaves the complexion evn, vibrant, satiny and glowing with natural beauty.

Mineralized water acts like a hydrating and energizing cocktail for the skin. Your complexion glows with intensity and dazzles with well-being. Your skin gradually becomes more beautiul.

I bought this at $65 in Shade 010, the lightest shade available in Singapore, from Robinsons way back in March. My make up usually can last me for a long time as I only use it over the weekends, hence $65 can still stretch me for a year or so.
A good friend of mine is an ardent fan of Dior products so she have been gushing excellent reviews over the products she had used. Actually, my first Dior product, a concealer purchase, started way before she was into Dior products, was not that fantastic but somehow, I got swayed by her reviews and started to take a closer look at Dior again.

I happened to stumble upon an advertisement for this liquid foundation in a magazine and subsequently checked it out at the counter. Anything with the word "hydrating" would have caught my attention.
Comes in a glass container, it exudes class and luxury, however I feared the day that it would break, should I accidentally dropped it.
With SPF 10, the sun protection factor is not exactly high but its better than nothing.

The texture is runny. It feels lightweight on the skin, with sheer to medium coverage. Its able to hide those minor blemishes and redness, giving the illusion of better skin. But then again, I expect all liquid foundation to be able to do a good job in this.
It also hydrates the skin better than other liquid foundation I have tried before. Flakiness on the skin were less obvious or disappeared, depending on how dehydrated my skin was, on that day. Just a note that, I have combination skin with dehydrated surface.

I usually use my fingers to blend this foundation into my skin as I found it easier than using a brush or sponge. It gives a natural dewy finish. Oil control is not that long lasting as I still need to blot the wings of my nose after about 4 hours of wear.
What I really like about this, is that it has a slight hydrating capability, its not the best, but its something I like in my make-up, as make-up tends to emphasize fine lines and dry patches on the skin.
You can check out the rest of the shades in Sephora

Review on Stila Illuminating Liquid Foundation

Product Description
Picture-perfect skin is now a reality with our illuminating liquid foundation. This silky, lightweight formula glides on effortlessly for sheer to medium coverage that hides flaws and imperfections so you are left with a luminous, air brushed look. A silky, semi-matte finish evens out natural skin tone to uncover your true beauty. Infused with Mica, tiny crystals found in nature, this skin illuminator reflects light, leaving you radiant and glowing. Perfect for sensitive or dry skin. Simply brilliant!

It comes in 8 different shades from 10watts to 80watts, a rather interesting way of describing its shades, though I thought if I take the word at face value, doesn't 80watts meant brighter?

Scoring a 3.7 rating from Makeupalley and 8.7 rating at Total Beauty, this foundation with a runny-like texture provides a sheer to medium coverage and although it claims to be able to hide flaws and imperfections, I hardly think so.
With sheer coverage, its usually unable to provide much good coverage for blemishes.
Infused with mica, tiny crystals found in nature, this product reflects light and gives a subtle glow to my face.
I never wear it alone though, I usually matched it with my Estee Lauder brightening compact powder.

I have been using my 20watts for almost a year as a little goes a long way.  On a close up look, there are little speckles of shimmers which made my skin look more radiant and healthier, without being over the top. Its pretty light-weight and is not very greasy which made it such a breeze to apply.

After the success of using this liquid foundation, I am looking forward to using more of Stila make-up products. I would recommend this product to those with good skin as I felt that the shimmers may bring more attention to the blemishes.
