There were some credits that came with my facial package purchase and one of the products which were recommended to me, was Dermalogica Circular Hydration Serum. Of course, I am happy to try more products from Dermalogica as my recent favourites were Dermalogica Precleanse and Dermalogica Micellar Prebiotic Precleanse

Packaging, Scent and Texture

Dermalogica Circular Hydration Serum Texture

Dermalogica Circular Hydration Serum comes in a 30ml dropper bottle. Clear in colour, it has a slightly oily texture which I am not a fan of. Looking at the list of ingredients, there are several oils in it, which explains the oily texture. It has a calming citrus scent.

How To Use :
Smooth over cleansed face and neck morning and night after toning and before moisturizing.

Performance and Ingredients

Dermalogica Circular Hydration Serum utilises an enhanced form of Hyaluronic Acid to penetrate skin’s surface for deep hydration and more supple, radiant skin over time. An Algae Extract-infused moisturising matrix delivers quick and long-lasting hydration. Polyglutamic Acid from fermented Soy replenishes skin’s hydration reserves from within. Plant-derived sugars and a blend of amino acids similar to those naturally present in the skin trap water on skin’s surface to help prevent future hydration evaporation. A postbiotic blend of Lactobacillus Ferment and Avena Extract helps to balance skin’s microbiome.

My combination skin, which often struggles with surface dehydration, doesn’t react well to oil-based products. They tend to make my skin appear even oilier than it actually is. However, Hyaluronic Acid has always been a game-changer for me, working wonders to keep my skin hydrated without the added shine. This leaves me feeling torn about the Dermalogica Circular Hydration Serum.

Gluten free, vegan, certified cruelty-free and formulated without artificial fragrances or colours, this serum feels tacky on skin with its slightly oily consistency and made my face look shiny. I never feel that it fully hydrates my skin even with 4 days of consistent usage (twice a day) on flaky skin after facial.

That said, when I brought it along for my recent Taiwan trip, my skin was well-hydrated without flakiness, pairing with Torriden Solid In Ceramide Cream. It just wasn't the best when I used it in humid Singapore.

The key ingredients are....

Hyaluronic Acid: Helps penetrate skin's surface for intense hydration.

Algae Extract-Infused Moisturizing Matrix: Binds water to the skin for both immediate and long-lasting hydration.

Polyglutamic Acid from Fermented Soybean: Supports skin's hydration reserves from within.

Conclusion

To conclude, Dermalogica Circular Hydration Serum feels tacky on skin with its slightly oily consistency and made my face look shiny. I never feel that it fully hydrates my skin on its own, and I need to pair with another hydrating moisturiser.
