Review : Oshimatsubaki 100% Camellia Hair Oil

Oshimatsubaki 100% Camellia Hair Oil Review

Product Description
A multi-purpose oil for hair, scalp and skin. OSHIMA TSUBAKI is a fragrance- and colorant-free all-natural, plant-based oil. It is 100% natural camellia oil made only from camellia oil that meets OSHIMA TSUBAKI’s high standards. It contains an abundance of triolein, which is also a component of human sebum. This makes it gentle to the skin, blending naturally on hair and skin. Original refinement technology removes scent and stickiness. As the oil is also not easily oxidized, it allows pleasant use to the very last drop.

I love multi-purpose oils. After using up Acure Organics Argan Oil, I went in search of another multi-purpose oil and stumbled upon Oshimatsubaki 100% Camellia Hair Oil. It can be used for the scalp, hair and body. This makes it a convenient travel item as it can tripled up as scalp treatment, hair oil, body oil and skin moisturiser. Unfortunately, the 60ml bottle is in glass so you will have to decant it to a smaller bottle for travelling. While I like items in glass ( less plastics is environmental-friendly ), it is not travel-friendly and is prone to breakage so do be careful when using it.

Made in Japan, Oshimatsubaki 100% Camellia Hair Oil is an all-natural, planted oil composed of 100% camellia oil with no odour or stickiness and is fragrance-free, colorant-free and mineral oil-free. Available in 40ml, 60ml and 120ml.

I purchased the 60ml size to be used for the hair and body. It has no dropper and is meant to be poured out directly from the opening. The oil is slightly greasy so use it sparingly.

For Hair :
- Protects hair against damage caused by the heat of blow dryers and exposure to ultraviolet rays (UVB).
- Provides moisture and luster while strengthening hair.

For Scalp :
- Brings about healthy scalp that is free of dandruff, itchiness, oiliness or dryness.

For Skin :
- Maintains moisture by suppressing the evaporation of moisture, protects skin from irritants.

I use the Camellia Hair Oil in various ways.
- as a leave-in hair treatment, after shampoo-ing, just before I left the house. It makes my hair softer and hair ends look less dry.

- as a oil hair pack occasionally, just before shampoo-ing. My hair looked much shiny, softer and is less tangled.

- as a body moisturizing treatment. I tend to use it after my bath to keep my skin well-moisturised.

Other usages which I did not try but are recommended by Oshimatsubaki website.

- Hand and Nail Care

- Make-up Removal
Apply on dry skin and use tissue paper to wipe the oil off and followed up with your usual cleanser.

- Oil Face Pack
Apply on clean dry skin, after cleansing. Let it sit for 10 minutes, use a tissue paper to wipe the oil off and followed up with your usual cleanser.

- Exfoliation
Apply on clean dry nose, after cleansing. Let it sit for 10 minutes, use a tissue paper to wipe the oil off and followed up with your usual cleanser. The camellia oil blends with the grime and grease clogging your pores. They become soft for easier removal.

- Scalp Care
Apply some OSHIMA TSUBAKI onto your fingertips. Use the pads of your fingers to apply the oil gently onto the whole of your dry, pre-shampoo scalp. Let it sit for 5 minutes and followed up with your usual shampoo.

Oshimatsubaki 100% Camellia Hair Oil Scalp Hair Method

The video below demonstrates how to apply the oil onto the scalp. Camellia oil contains the same substance as sebum. It is a mild oil that is gentle on your scalp. It helps loosen and clean dandruff and sebum on your scalp that cannot be tackled by shampoo alone. The oil allows impurities to be washed away easily, leading your scalp to a healthy state with no dandruff, itchiness, oiliness or dryness.

Oshimatsubaki 100% Camellia Hair Oil scored 4.6 from 24 users where 91% would repurchase the product again on Makeupalley.
