Review : Sephora Hydrating & Quenching Gel Mask

A 30ml size of Sephora Hydrating and Quenching Gel Mask was part of my Sephora Favorites Mask Wonderland purchase several months ago. Made in France, it comes in a tub with a soothing baby blue colour. I brought it along for my Korea trip where I applied it for 7 consecutive nights.

Sephora Hydrating and Quenching Gel Mask has a velvety smooth silicon-laden texture. It stings at times, especially on dehydrated areas. When I used it in Korea, the mask sinks into my skin within 5 minutes ( probably because my skin is just so thirsty ) and I will rinse off with water and followed up with a sheet mask. The gel mask helped to keep my skin in optimal condition on all 8 days, except for 1 day, where I had a bad bout of flu, hence the skin on my nose was flaky.

I stopped using the mask for several days when I was back in Singapore, and then started using it on alternate days for about a week. The texture of the Hydrating and Quenching Gel Mask was really odd, there is a layer of silicon-like veil left behind, after every rinse. My skin is very sticky as though the rinsing did not matter. Water just slide down on my skin, rather than the usual trickling down.

Because of the dimethicone ingredient in the mask, my skin is smooth after every masking session. However, that smooth texture is gone, after I layered other products on top of it ( after every feeble attempt in rinsing off the mask ).

Note that, the description on the tub states no rinsing needed - " leave on for 5 to 10 minutes, no need to rinse " while on the Sephora website, it states " leave on for 5 to 10 minutes, remove excess with cotton ball. no need to rinse "

I don't quite understand why there is no need to rinse it off, unless it is an overnight mask. And I dislike the layer of silicon veil on skin after every attempt of rinsing off, when I was back in Singapore. My skin did not have that layer of veil when I was in Korea.

Did anyone has a similar experience? Or was it just me?

Review : Sephora Shea Hair Sleeping Mask

I received Sephora Shea Hair Sleeping Mask as part of my Christmas gift from a good friend of mine last year, to which I use it after my newly coloured hair ( roots touch-up only ) recently, in order to keep my tresses in good condition.

Coming from Sephora Collection, the price is not exactly cheap for a 1 time use product but if it works as well as the hair treatment at the salon, then its definitely value for money. Sometimes, its better to have 1 product that solve all your hair worries and concerns than to get many products without seeing any results. Curious to hear how it works for my thick and long tresses?

Review : Sephora Marine Algae Mask

I received a complimentary sheet of Sephora Marine Algae Mask in a Sephora goodie bag from an earlier event this year.

Made in China, this anti-aging mask is said to protect the skin from inflammation and sun-caused aging. In terms of ingredients, they are filled with  many odd-sounding names which I never come across. Even Cosdna, the ingredient analysis website can't decipher them.

The material is thick and moist with essence. However, the cutting of the mask is really bad. Its huge and extends all the way to beyond the cheeks. If I really have to stretch and pull it tight, the mask would have gone beyond the ears, covering the hair. Do I really want to layer the sticky mask on my hair? I don't think anyone will do that.

Because of the large cutting size, there were excess flaps all over the face, leaving temporary mask imprints on my skin, after the masking session. For a cherubic face like mine, which is considered large, I wonder how it must have been, for those with smaller face shape.

The fragrance is also strong which may not go down well with those who has a sensitive nose. After a 20 minute treatment, my skin looked slightly fresher-looking but that is about it.

Review : Sephora Cleansing Cream ( Rose )

I received 2 x 3ml sachets of the Sephora Cleansing Cream ( Rose ) in the goodie bag from a recent Sephora event. I thought that was a pretty great move from Sephora to get people to try their in-house brand and hopefully, they will get the full retail size.

Review : Sephora Triple Action Cleansing Water

Product Description
This cleansing water eliminates impurities and makeup without the soapy texture. With the help of a Sephora-exclusive ingredient, HydroSenn it leaves your skin suppler than hyaluronic acid. An all in one formula that cleanses the face and eyes. Lightweight and refreshing texture.

A 25ml size of the Sephora Triple Action Cleansing Water was part of the Sephora Beauty On The Fly package which I purchased during Christmas last year.

Formulated without parabens, sulfates and phthalates, the the cleansing water has a too-strong fragrance that lingers throughout the cleansing process . I use this as a make-up remover and since cleansing water has always been my choice of make-up remover, I am used to its clear water-like contents on cotton pads to cleanse away all my make-up.

It is relatively easy to use and my face was void of sunscreen, BB Cream and loose powder after using Sephora Triple Action Cleansing Water with 2 cotton pads. Just have to be careful when you use it around the eyes as the cleansing water tends to sting alittle. And with such a strong fragrance, it may be a source of irritant to some.

I have yet to use it on heavy make-up though so I can't comment on that aspect.
