[ Review ] : IDS Delicate Cleanser (C2), IDS C-Plus (C+), IDS Dermashield Serum (DS)

I received some IDS products from my First Visit To IDS Clinic earlier this year and on my second visit for Facial Treatment At IDS Aesthetics, I had inflammed skin due to the treatment and was prescribed with IDS Delicate Cleanser (C2), IDS Moisturizer and Recovery Serum.

I am not obligated to review the products but I will still like to share my thoughts after using them. You can also check out my reviews on IDS Refreshing Cleanser (C1), Refreshing Toner (T1) and Intensive Moisturizer (IM)

Do note that the PAO ( period after opening ) for these products is 6 months.

IDS Delicate Cleanser Review
IDS Delicate Cleanser (C2) is a cleanser mild enough for sensitive skin as it lathers into a soft foam to help remove regular makeup as well as lift away surface dirt, grime and pollutants. It also contains anti-inflammatory and antioxidant botanical extracts to help combat redness, environmental stress and soften the skin.

How To Use :
1) Pump twice onto your palm and gently rub hands together to form a soft foam.
2) Massage onto damp skin, avoiding the eye area before rinsing well.

Manufactured in Singapore, IDS Delicate Cleanser (C2) comes in a tall and slim 100ml bottle with a pump dispenser. Similar to IDS Refreshing Cleanser (C1), the pump is stiff and unable to depress fully down and initially, I thought it malfunctioned but after experiencing that in the second cleanser, I believe that this is by default. Note that the gel contents can still be dispensed.

The clear gel has a light floral scent and smells lovely. It produces light suds once water is added. IDS Delicate Cleanser (C2) was recommended to me at IDS, when my skin was red, irritated and inflammed but unfortunately, it was still the wrong choice.

This cleanser was totally not mild for my skin type and does not help to combat redness. During application, my skin appeared alright but 10 minutes after rinsing off, my skin was very taut and dehydrated. I still can't understand why it is said to be ideal for normal to dry/sensitive skin when I can't even use it on irritated skin days as well as on normal days ( combination skin with surface dehydration ).

Due to its drastic incompatibility with my skin, I haven't use it for removing makeup so I can't attest to its efficacy.

Overall, this cleanser doesn't work for my skin type so it won't be a repurchase.

IDS Delicate Cleanser (C2) contains the following key ingredients....

Portulaca Oleracea, Centella Asiatica and Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Leaf Extract : Botanical extracts with anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties.

Centella Asiatica Extract : Also known as ‘gotu kola’, it has anti-bacterial and wound-healing properties.

IDS C-Plus Review

IDS C-Plus is an age-defense serum formulated with a potent form of Vitamin C, coupled with Nobel Prize ‘Fullerenes’ and Tocopheryl to exhibit a superior antioxidant action and strong collagen stimulation — resulting in a ‘wrinkle-free’ effect along with significant skin brightening.

How To Use :
Shake bottle before use. Apply a small amount evenly onto face.

Manufactured in Singapore, IDS C-Plus is housed in a 30ml plastic opaque bottle with a pump dispenser. Of all the products received from IDS, I was most excited about this as I love brightening serums, with past good results derived from Axis-y Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum and 5erenity2 Renew Serum.

IDS C-Plus Full Review

IDS C-Plus is clear in colour with a hint of lovely citrus scent. The texture is runny and unbelievably lightweight with a light cooling sensation but surprisingly sticky upon application. I considered it a minor issue since a moisturizer would be layered thereafter. The IDS consultant has mentioned that this can be used under the eyes to tackle dark circles.

Ideal for all skin types, the serum is said to increase collagen production, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, produce an even skin-tone and lighten old acne marks.

With consistent usage, my skin looked clear, more even-toned and slightly brighter with a subtle improvement to the slight pigmentation spots on my cheeks.

Note that even though the product boasts of having anti-acne capability but it wasn't effective on me, as I still get zits on the chin as well as oily T-zone from my constant mask-wearing.

Overall, I love IDS C-Plus and was sad that I depleted it so soon. It caught me by surprise when I can't pump out the contents one day.

On a side note, I have to add that after the last Hydro-Therapeutics Facial Treatment at IDS, applying IDS C-Plus triggered scaly patches on the forehead which I presumed that it may be due to my skin being very dry after the facial and the product further exacerbate the condition causing redness, itchiness and scaly patches. It took a long time, on top of prescribed medication before the condition recovered.

IDS C-Plus contains the following key ingredients....

Trisodium Ascorbyl Palmitate Phosphate (Vitamin C) : Combination of antioxidant, oil and Vitamin C derivative to help reduce the appearance of fine lines, lighten blemish marks and even out skin tone.
Also has excellent skin-permeation, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, enhances collagen production, melanin suppressing effect, anti-acne and anti-wrinkle effects.

Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E) : Very stable, water-soluble form of Vitamin E with antioxidant and anti inflammatory properties.

Fullerenes : Carbon molecules that help to neutralize free radicals ( antioxidant action ) and are known to suppress melanin and sebum production. Highly potent free-radical scavenging effect (antioxidant action) with melanin suppressing effect. Anti-acne benefit with the ability to suppress sebum production.

IDS Dermashield Serum Review

IDS Dermashield Serum (DS) is known as a “screen protector” in a bottle as the serum works like an invisible shield to protect skin from the harmful effects of High-Energy Visible (blue light) and Infra-red light as well as environmental pollutants that can accelerate skin aging. When paired with a sunscreen, its maximum protection.

How To Use :
1) Apply a small amount evenly onto entire face twice daily.
2) Follow with sun protection before going outdoors.

We are exposed to blue light almost all the time, from smartphone screen, laptop, Ipad, TV as well as fluorescent and LED lighting and according to IDS, blue light can cause photo-aging, dullness and wrinkles. And this is where Dermashield Serum comes in.

It contains Buddleja Officinalis Flower Extract to protect the skin against the damaging effects of light rays, UV rays, infrared rays and blue light, while other ingredients help to prevent HEV light skin damage, stimulate skin’s own defence against UV and blue light, and block pollutants. Marigold or Calendula officinalis flower extract is a natural blue light filter to help absorb and filter out the blue light in both natural and artificial light.

IDS Dermashield Serum Full Review

Manufactured in Singapore, IDS Dermashield Serum comes in a 30ml pump bottle with its signature blue and white colours. Initially, I was excited to receive a product that protects against blue light as my current products do not provide any protection against that. However, the moment I pump out the orange greasy contents, I realized the texture was not what my skin can take.

IDS Dermashield Serum Texture

According to IDS consultant, Caline, Dermashield Serum is to be used before moisturiser in the day and after moisturiser in the night. Out of all the prescribed products, this is the least favourite of mine, as it has a thick and greasy balm-y texture.

Skin looked shiny and greasy immediately upon application. Using a pea sized quantity is highly recommended. 2 tiny bumps formed on the left cheek on the following morning but thankfully disappeared after 3 days.

Skin is left very smooth, soft and supple the following morning.

Overall, I hardly reach out for this product as its not a good fit for my skin type in a humid weather condition.

IDS Dermashield Serum contains the following key ingredients....

Buddleja Officinalis Flower Extract : Protects the skin against the damaging effects of UV, Infra-red rays and blue light exposure.

Niacinamide : This Vitamin B3 works in combination with Vitamin B6 and E to help prevent HEV light skin damage.

Pepha-Age : Micro-algae extract ( Scenedesmus Rubescens ) stimulates skin's own defense against UV and blue light.

Alteromonas Ferment Extract : Reduces PM2.5 adhesions on skin surface and protects cellular integrity against toxic chemicals (heavy metals and hydrocarbons), as well as from cigarette smoke and fuel exhaust.

Ectoin : A multi-functional active ingredient that effectively prevents cellular damage and protects the skin from the effects of UVA-induced damage.

Marrubium Vulgare Extract : Designed to fight against visible and invisible damage to the skin caused by pollution.
