Ampleur Luxury White W Protect UV+ Review

Product Description
With SPF50+ PA++++, Ampleur Luxury White W Protect UV+ protects your skin not only from UV rays but also from blue light and environmental stress such as air pollution, which accelerates skin aging. It also contains beauty-boosting ingredients such as high-penetration Collagen and Squalane.

Sun protection is key to younger skin! Other than incorporating Foods That Fight UV Damage, it is also important to check if your Medications Cause You To Be Sun Sensitive.

Ampleur Singapore reached out to me some time back to try out their bestselling product, Luxury White W Protect UV+, in return for an honest review.

Hailing from Japan, Ampleur is a Japanese skincare brand developed by WOVE Clinic, a medical corporation in Tokyo in 2003. It is a leading doctor-developed cosmetic brand based on cutting-edge research of aesthetic dermatology. Performance and Ingredients

Ampleur Luxury White W Protect UV+ Japanese Sunscreen

Ampleur Luxury White W Protect UV+ boasts of 3 benefits
- Aging Care : Provides suppleness and elasticity
- Dryness Care : Fortifies barrier function
- Brightening Care : Inhibits melanin formation

At 30g, this product is pretty tiny but makes a good travelling companion. I am surprised by how much I enjoyed using this sunscreen. I always prefer lightweight textures in humid weather and Ampleur Luxury White W Protect UV+ ticks all the right boxes.

The lightweight texture was such a joy to spread across the skin, leaving it soft and smooth. Non-sticky, non-greasy with no white cast, how can one not love it at all? After 3 hours of wear, my T-zone has a slight sheen but adding my holy grail RMS Beauty "Un" Powder helps to mattify the shine so its not a major issue.

Pairing the right skincare products prior to sunscreen application can also help to keep the shine at bay - I noticed the combination of Son & Park Beauty Water, IDS C-Plus, The Vegan Glow Good Morning Cream with Ampleur Luxury White W Protect UV+ can allow me to go up to 6 hours of wear without my combination skin oiling up so thats great news for my combination skin!

Adding on, this sunscreen has received awards in the following...
-Rakuten (Japan) real-time data No.1 in sunscreen category
-小红心大赏(小红书) No.1 facial sunscreen for 5 months in a row

note : 小红书,  also known as RED, is a Chinese social media and e-commerce platform with over 300 million registered users as of 2019.

That said, the downsides are the heavy fragrance and the not-so-wallet-friendly price.

At SPF50+ PA++++, this sunscreen helps to protect against UVA and UVB rays where an SPF 50 product protects you from 98% of the UVB “burning” rays that penetrate your skin and PA++++ offers the best UVA protection.

The letters “PA” followed by plus signs (PA+, PA++, PA+++, and PA++++) on a label are a rating system developed in Japan to represent how much UVA protection the product offers.

The sunscreen filters used in the formula are....

Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate
Often listed on sunscreen products as Octinoxate, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate (also called Octyl Methoxycinnamate) is used in products that are applied to the skin to absorb, reflect or scatter UV rays; it protects the skin from sunburn and other damaging effects of the sun. Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate also protects cosmetics and personal care products from deterioration caused by UV rays and allows them to last longer in high UV conditions.

It is a chemical sun blocking agent that absorbs ultraviolet radiation in UVB range.
However, when Octinoxate is exposed to sunlight, "it is converted into a less UV absorbent form hence it is not very stable. This conversion can be partly prevented by certain other UV blockers, particularly bemotrizinol (Tinosorb M). Note that if Octinoxate combined with Avobenzone, it degrades even faster.

Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane :
In the United States, when this ingredient is used in sun protection products, it will be listed on the label as Avobenzone. Avobenzone, when applied to the skin, absorbs UV rays. In addition to causing sunburn, UV radiation is a significant cause of premature aging of the skin and contributes to the development of melanoma and other forms of skin cancer.

According to Truth In Aging, tests have revealed Avobenzone’s tendency to significantly degrade in light over time, lessening its sun protection capabilities. For this reason, most sunscreens containing the ingredient also include photo-stabilizing ingredients like octocrylene.

Avobenzone appears to be relatively non-toxic and non-irritating to the skin. However, because it is often used in conjunction with photo-stabilizers, there is a greater risk for skin irritation and low-level toxicity.

Other notable ingredients in the sunscreen are....

Ergothioneine : According to research study, Ergothioneine has shown to be effective for the treatment of UVA-induced skin damage. It can help to prevent wrinkles, reduce signs of aging skin and minimize sun damage.

Oenothera Biennis Seed Extract : Also known as Evening Primrose Oil, it can help to soothe itchy, dry and irritated skin as well as to improve hydration and skin elasticity.

Conclusion

To conclude, Ampleur Luxury White W Protect UV+ SPF50+ PA++++ is a lovely sunscreen which exceeded my expectations. The texture is lightweight, easy to spread and sinks in beautifully, leaving my skin soft and smooth. And with the right loose powder to mattify the shine on my combination skin, its perfect for our hot and humid weather.

Adding on, the sunscreen is configured with a cutting-edge repair technology that protects the skin from environmental stressors as it prevents and repairs skin damage and DNA damage caused by UV rays and active oxygen, keeping the skin youthful from the cellular level.

That said, I am not a fan of the heavy fragrance but if you are not sensitive to fragrance and alcohol, this sunscreen is worth a try.
