After using Real Barrier Extreme Cream Mask, Real Barrier Aqua Soothing Ampoule Mask is next on my list.

Made in Korea, Real Barrier goal is to reinforce and support the skin's natural barrier, which is responsible for keeping moisture in and irritants out. It accomplishes this with a slew of beneficial ingredients, while also avoiding 10 ingredients known to be harmful to dry and sensitive skin.

Real Barrier's real skin barrier comes from MLE ® , a proprietary skin barrier technology. MLE® (Multi Lamelllar Emulsion) technology is a proprietary neo-palm skin barrier technology that enhances the intrinsic protection of skin by strengthening damaged skin barriers by reproducing the most similar healthy skin structure.

The core formula of Real Barrier that enhances the skin barrier function is by reproducing ingredients and structures similar to real skin lipids. Skin lipid components such as ceramide, cholesterol, and fatty acids are composed of optimal proportions, which are similar to actual skin components, and MLE® Technology rebuilds the skin-like structure and strengthens weakened skin barrier.

Real Barrier Aqua Soothing Ampoule Mask does not contain the following - Parabens, Ethanol, Propylene Glycol, Mineral Oil, Phenoxyethanol, PEG, Artificial Fragrances, Benzophenone, Diathanolamine and Artificial Pigments.

Packaging, Scent and Texture

From the outer packaging, Real Barrier Aqua Soothing Ampoule Mask gives the impression that the sheet mask would be white colour but is actually black ( due to bamboo charcoal ), which seems to be in contrast with its packaging.

The material is thin, very soft and crumbly but comfortable on skin. Lavender, orange and vetiver root oils supply a mood-enhancing aroma.

The cutting of the mask seems to fit someone with a smaller face though, with shorter forehead area, shorter nose flap and large eye cutout areas.

Performance and Ingredients

I used this mask on the day when the broken capillaries on the sides of my nose were irritated, red and slightly itchy just to see if it would improve my skin condition.

After a 20 minute masking session, my skin is visibly calmed, soothed and the itchiness gone although the redness on the broken capillaries on the sides of my nose were still there.

In terms of ingredients, Real Barrier Aqua Soothing Ampoule Mask is infused with Panthenol to calm, Madecassoside to moisturize and Allantoin to soothe.  It also contains Hyaluronic Acid which is known to bind moisture to the skin. The concentrated Ampoules deeply moisturize damaged skin.

Squalane, mistletoe fruit extract, phytosterols and vitamin E help to deeply moisturize and provide anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant and anti-septic actions. The black sheet, enriched with Bamboo Charcoal, helps purify skin that has been exposed to and damaged by environmental pollutants.

Just the cream in the name makes me want to try out these masks so when I chanced upon them in Korea, I purchased them instantly - a sheet of Real Barrier Extreme Cream Mask and a sheet of Aqua Soothing Ampoule Mask.

The packaging of Real Barrier Extreme Cream Mask has a clinical vibe to it, with its white and blue colours which reminds one of medical professionals.

The thin and soft silky micro-fiber material is comfortable and has good adherence and fitting, however, the fragrance came across as pretty strong.

Performance and Ingredients

After a 20 minute masking session, my skin is left feeling soft, smooth, clear and fresh, on top of being soothed and calmed. Redness has subsided slightly although still apparent on the brows and broken capillaries on the sides of my nose.

In terms of ingredients, this paraben free mask is infused with Panthenol to calm, Madecassoside to moisturize and Allantoin to soothe ( also known as 3-Calming Complex of Panthenol, Madecassoside, and Allantoin to calm and soothe irritated skin ). It is also enriched with dual Ceramides and Hyaluronic Acid which is known to bind water to the skin as well as Vitamin E to help protect against environmental pollutants.

Conclusion

To conclude, Real Barrier Extreme Cream Mask is an excellent mask for sensitive skin and those looking for moisturising masks. I loved how my skin is so soft, smooth, clear and fresh-looking - definitely a mask on date nights! 

[ Review ] : Phutawan Coconut Salt Scrub

Product Description
Phutawan Coconut Salt Scrub is made from coconut oil blended with fresh lime, a perfect fresh fragrance and mixture to refresh and ease fatigue. Crystal grain salt and sugar help extract impurities with their antiseptic qualities leaving skin smooth and rejuvenated. Great for elbows, knees and hips as well.

I purchased Phutawan Lemongrass Body Scrub and Phutawan Coconut Salt Scrub from Bangkok in late December last year. I just finished my stash of body scrubs so it was apt for me to pick up some from Thailand, that has a huge spa industry.

Packaging, Scent and Texture

Made in Thailand, Phutawan Coconut Salt Scrub does not contain parabens, petrochemicals, mineral oil, silicones and SLS/SLES.

The lumpy formula provides a gentle scrub but left a slight drying after-feel. It has a refreshing scent of coconut oil combined with the aroma of Lime Oil.

Performance and Ingredients

I was alittle disappointed that Phutawan Coconut Salt Scrub turns out to be slightly drying as I have a positive experience with Phutawan Lemongrass Body Scrub which is cheaper. Considering the price and the packaging, Phutawan Coconut Salt Scrub seems to give off a higher tier vibe as compared to the Lemongrass Body Scrub so I expected it to be a better experience and more moisturising but unfortunately, it was not to be.

The formula contains sea salt and sugar crystal beads to help shed dry and cracked skin, restores smoothness and clarity and making skin soft to the touch.

Indeed, the Coconut Salt Scrub does left my skin feel slightly smoother but most body scrubs can do the job well, without making the skin drying, hence this won't be a repurchase for me.

Conclusion

To conclude, Phutawan Coconut Salt Scrub has an uncommon fragrance which may not sit well with everyone and the lumpy formula has a slight drying after-feel which would not be suitable for those with very dry skin.

Phutawan Lemongrass Body Scrub comes in a round clear plastic tub that has a simple and fuss-free vibe to it. The creamy texture with a lemongrass scent is relaxing and reminds one being in a spa.

Performance and Ingredients

Creamy in texture, Phutawan Lemongrass Body Scrub glides on the skin easily, without any greasiness or drying after-feel. It doesn't feel abrasive too.

My skin felt slightly smoother but the WOW effect just isn't there. However, I do like the scent as it makes me more inclined to use it.

Conclusion 

Phutawan Lemongrass Body Scrub would be great for those who are a fan of lemongrass scent or those with sensitive skin as the texture is creamy and is non-abrasive. Check out my review on Phutawan Coconut Salt Scrub.

Preservative-free, paraben-free, fragrance-free, alcohol-free, colorant-free, lanolin-free, it has a light and fresh non-oily texture with a slight cooling sensation. My skin felt soothed and calmed but the product did not minimize the redness on the broken capillaries on the sides of my nose. Perhaps more time is needed or that this product work better for those with redness caused by allergies.
