I'm From's Mugwort Essence is formulated with 100% mugwort extract grown in South Korea. This refreshing formula adheres to and absorbs into the skin to soothe and recharge moisture from within.
Mugwort extract has powerful anti-inflammatory properties and is rich in antioxidants. It helps prevent premature aging by combating damage from environmental aggressors. Mugwort extract also stimulates collagen production, which plumps up skin and helps reduce the appearance of fine lines.

According to this research study, the Japanese mugwort, Artemisia princeps (yomogi in Japanese), has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. Skin care products containing Artemisia princeps extract (APE) are known to improve dry skin symptoms in atopic dermatitis.
Another research study by a College of Medicine in Korea also reflected that Mugwort Leaf Extract can help relieve the symptoms of contact dermatitis.
I have selected I'm From Mugwort Essence as part of my second Wishtrend collaboration, together with I'm From Rice Toner and Rovectin Forever Young Biome Ampoule. Staying in Singapore with its hot and humid weather condition can be a bane to sensitive skin so using calming products are much needed and that is where I'm From Mugwort Essence comes into my routine.
I prefer to take my time with each skincare product so I don't do collaborations often, regardless of paid or unpaid.

Packaging, Scent and Texture
I'm From Mugwort Essence is a 160ml product, housed in a sturdy tall glass bottle with a minimalistic vibe. The runny texture ( with a viscous consistency ) is greenish-brown in colour, lightweight with a cooling sensation upon application and left skin silky smooth after absorption. It has a soothing herbal scent due to Mugwort.
How To Use :
1) Apply from on sensitive part to overall face after toner.
2) When skin is extremely dry or need calming, soak cotton pad into essence and put on face for 5 minutes.
Performance and Ingredients
Vegan and cruelty free and formulated without artificial fragrances and colors, parabens, sulfates, animal products, alcohol, mineral oils, essential oils, and silicone, I'm From Mugwort Essence is a hydrating and soothing essence formulated with 100% mugwort extract that calms, refines and purifies skin with a pH of 6.0±1.0.
Rich in vitamins, minerals and tannins, Mugwort is known for its detoxifying effect and is used like tea tree oil in Korea, to treat skin problems and refine skin texture for clear and smooth skin.
3 Ways To Use The Product :
- After using a toner, apply an adequate amount of the Mugwort Essence on the entire face, focusing on sensitive, irritated areas. Gently tap on skin to help absorption.
- For days when skin feels extra dry, soak cotton pads with Mugwort Essence and leave on face for 5 minutes
- For calming effects, soak a sheet mask with Mugwort Essence to use as full-face mask and leave on for 5 minutes.
While I'm From Mugwort Essence has a lightweight and runny texture, it isn't fine enough to be used as a mist, yet can be slightly messy to be poured on palms and pat on skin with hands at times. Just don't pour it out too fast. I prefer to use cotton pads with the essence, to swipe on skin, tap on skin or use as lotion mask.
It has a cooling sensation upon application, minimize mild red patches ( not totally gone ) on skin and helps new zit to recover faster. During hot weather, use it as a lotion mask for that refreshing and comforting sensation, to feel better.
Those with sensitive and reactive skin would love this mugwort essence but it wasn't hydrating enough for my skin needs ( pair it with a hydrating product in your routine, if you need more hydration ), and the calming effects weren't as impressive as what I have read on Instagram. Perhaps, my expectations were high, after reading all the glorious reviews.
There was a period which I had some red patches due to sensitivity from using Medicube products but I'm From Mugwort Essence does nothing at all. It didn't soothe, calm or reduce the red patches.
However, on another day when I had a mild red spot on my cheeks due to a mosquito bite, this essence did help to minimize the redness, so yes, it does work to an extent depending on the cause of the redness.
It seems like an underwhelming product but I actually missed the product after emptying it, as I enjoyed the calming sensation for each use.
In terms of ingredients, I'm From Mugwort Essence collects Ganghwa mugwort grown with Sea breeze and fog and ages for 3 years with traditional method. The essence contains single extract of fermented Gangwha mugwort that has calming ingredients and purification activities through slow release extraction™.

Conclusion
To conclude, I'm From Mugwort Essence is a calming and soothing product that helps newly formed zits to recover faster but doesn't work on all types of irritation or redness and does not provide sufficient hydration for my skin type. It is nice to have, but not essential in my skincare routine but I did miss the product after emptying it.
