I'm From Vitamin Tree Mask Review
Product Description
I'm From Vitamin Tree Mask is a wash-off mask containing extracts of Sea Buckthorn which has high concentrations of Vitamin C, Snow Lotus for hydration, Cloudberry extract for oil-and-water balance, Sodium Hyaluronate for moisture retention, Jojoba Seed Oil for additional hydration and Rose of Jericho to strengthen the skin's natural moisture barrier.

Heard good things about I'm From so I purchased I'm From Vitamin Tree Mask during my last trip to Korea. If I have no budget and fewer masks in my stash, I would have bought all the masks but unfortunately, I have too many masks and I needed to portion some cash for other skincare products in Korea so I only chose 1 variant. HAHA!

This is my first foray into I'm From and I am beyond excited and full of expectations from using their products! I'm From is very popular and they have a range of products made from Honey, Vitamin Tree, Fig, Ginseng, Rice and Mugwort. Unfortunately, their website is only in Korean language so I cannot share more about its brand story.

Made in Korea, I'm From is said to use only the purest ingredients to transform your skin to a healthier, youthful and more radiant look and is recommended for those who worried about dull skin tone or dry and rough skin, those who want a rapid relief for damaged skin, those who have sensitive, delicate skin and those who have oily or redness and flushing skin.

According to Yesstyle, it is a sister brand of SKIN&LAB and CHICA Y CHICO and distinguishes itself from other beauty labels with its philosophy of transparency. Each product proudly lists all its ingredients, as well as the origin of its primary ingredient, and the name of the farm where it was harvested.

Packaging, Scent and Texture

I'm From Vitamin Tree Mask is housed in a minimalistic sturdy glass jar where I thought the mask would be a beautiful light green like its box packaging. However, the actual contents are in very dark forest green kind of colour with a lovely pudding-like texture that sinks down like quick mud with a finger press.

The scent is definitely very earthy and probably not something most would like but I am alright with it, after some time. It just needs some adjusting time.

Once smeared on the face, the colour made one look like you dunked your face into mud. My hubby laughed at me, each time I used it. He said it looked like poop! Urgh! That nerve!

How To Use :
1. After face wash, apply mask to entire face, avoiding eye area.
2. Gently rinse off in 10 - 20 minutes.

Performance

I'm From Vitamin Tree Mask is a detox mask that revitalizes the skin with a surge of nutrients to purify, soothe, calm and to strengthen the skin's natural moisture barrier. It is said to leave skin tone bright and clear as the vitamins relieve the stress from skin and help restore the skin's natural health.

I'm From Vitamin Tree Mask Full Review

Containing 47.7% Vitamin Leaf Tea and 8.7% Vitamin Tree Fresh Leaf from Taebaek Mountains to improve skin texture and purify skin, this premium wash-off mask is enriched with Vitamin Berries, Cloudberry, Rose of Jericho and Snow Lotus, it helps nourish and hydrate your skin, and balance oil/moisture level, protect rough and damaged skin; a solution for sensitive skin. This rinse-off mask is free from fragrance, colors, talc, benzophenone and mineral oils and does not contain hazardous ingredients.

According to Renee from Gothamista, Vitamin Tree is an endearing name given to Sea Buckthorn trees in Korean skincare because it is full of vitamins.

I'm From Vitamin Tree Mask Consistency
I adored the soft and smooth creamy pudding-like texture where its easy to scoop up the contents with its provided spatula. It is easy to apply and spread across skin. Skin is always left soft and smooth with cleaner and smaller pores.

That said, I'm From Vitamin Tree Mask stings slightly on dehydrated skin and it is not easy to be rinsed off. You can't see it from the naked eye but once swiped with a toner, you would notice all the remnants leftover on skin. I tried using Son & Park Beauty Water twice but my cotton pads still came up with all the "muddy" remnants. Using copious of water to rinse off the mask was not effective.

The best way for me, is to use I'm From Vitamin Tree Mask in the shower. Masking in the shower provides your skin with a few added benefits as opposed to applying the product on dry cleansed skin. The pores are open in the shower due to the heat and therefore, are ready to absorb beneficial ingredients included in the mask. This allows for optimal moisture absorption and sealing in natural lipids.

I use it right before I stepped into the shower and then rinse off with water and cleanser. Swiping my face with toner thereafter has shown much lesser remnants and swiping the second time, proved my skin to be clean.

That said, even though this is said to be a detox mask but it does not seem to resolve maskne issues, reduce blemishes or purify skin. It felt like a deep cleansing mask without the drying effects yet does not perform up to par like what a good deep cleansing mask is supposed to do.

According to this listing, each bottle can be slightly different in its colour and scent as it is made with hand-picked vitamin leaves, free of chemical fertilizers. The recommended usage time is within 6 months of opening and refrigeration is highly recommended.

For the record, I am still using I'm From Vitamin Tree Mask which is in the 7th month, without any refrigeration as it was neither mentioned on the box packaging nor on the jar. Then again, most of the description was in Korean language so I might have missed it unknowingly.

Tried to google translate the language but it was a job done poorly and I gave up. The mask still looked fresh to me with colour and scent remaining the same.

Ingredients

In terms of ingredients, I'm From Vitamin Tree Mask has zero water in its formula and uses the following key ingredients :

Hippophae Rhamnoides Extract (47.7%) : Also known as Sea Buckthorn ( and as Vitamin Tree Extract to Koreans ), this berry is a good source of vitamin C as well as various B vitamins, vitamin E, lycopene, phytosterols, and numerous phenolic compounds that provide antioxidant benefit. A unique aspect of this fruit extract is its ability to help stabilize elements in skin that would normally break down in the presence of peroxide and other types of free radicals. Like other berries, it also has a pronounced soothing effect on skin.

Hippophae Rhamnoides L ( 8.7% ) : Also known as Sea Buckthorn Leaf Extracts ( and as Vitamin Tree Fresh Leaf to Koreans ), vitamin leaves are rich in calcium which strengthens the skin's barrier. It has about 7x more catechin than green tea, having excellent effects on the prevention of oxidation.

According to this research study and this scientific journal, Sea Buckthorn Leaf Extracts serve as a good source of antioxidants.

Saussurea Involucrata Extract ( Snow Lotus ) : An immortal flower that grows in the snow. Contains strong moisture.

Rubus Chamaemorus Fruit Extract ( Cloud Berry ) : A polar plant that can withstand temperatures below -40C. Provides rich nutrients to the skin and helps balance the oil content.

Selaginella Lepidophylla Extract ( Rose of Jericho ) : A resurrecting flower that can be restored with just a drop of water. Helps regulate the skin's moisture balance.

Conclusion

To conclude, I'm From Vitamin Tree Mask is a rinse-off detox mask for soft and smooth skin with cleaner and smaller pores. I like the soft creamy texture which is great for spreadability and the antioxidant benefits derived from its key ingredients.

However, at this point, I can't say that this is a great mask for me, as I have not seen significant effects from it. That said, what don't work for me, may just work great for you as skincare is very personal and depends on a range of factors like your skin type, concerns, personal preference, etc.
