Ole Henriksen Lemonade Smoothing Scrub Review

Product Description
Ole Henriksen Lemonade Smoothing Scrub is a refreshing, exfoliating scrub that instantly retexturizes, polishes and reduces the look of pores, with AHAs, lemon peel and sugar. This dual-action retexturizing scrub physically and chemically exfoliates. High-potency AHAs help loosen and lift dead skin cells, while lemon peel powder and sugar exfoliants gently sweep away rough skin. Plus, holy basil and chamomile help calm and soothe your skin.

I received Ole Henriksen Splashing Stars Cleanser & Scrub Duo as a Christmas gift from a good friend, which consists of Ole Henriksen Truth Juice Daily Cleanser (60ml) and Ole Henriksen Lemonade Smooth Scrub (30g).

It has been a good 8 years since I last used their products - Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster and Ole Henriksen Enlighten Me Skin Tone Corrector as they pulled out from Sephora then. Glad to see that they are back in local shores again.

Exfoliating regularly is essential for soft, smooth and refreshed skin. Why is it good to exfoliate? Basically, dead skin cells accumulate on the skin’s surface, which can leave your complexion looking dull, rough and dry.

There are two types of exfoliation: Physical and chemical. Physical exfoliation uses small particles to manually scrub away rough, flaky skin and let smoother skin glow through. Chemical exfoliation, on the other hand, involves acids—such as AHAs, BHAs and PHAs—to loosen the “glue” that holds the dead surface layer of skin together and reveal the newer, fresher skin underneath.

Ole Henriksen Lemonade Smoothing Scrub is a physical + chemical exfoliant where potent AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) help loosen and lift dead skin cells while ultra-fine sugar and lemon peel powder gently sweep away rough skin.

Packaging, Scent and Texture

Ole Henriksen Lemonade Smoothing Scrub Texture

Ole Henriksen Lemonade Smoothing Scrub is a travel sized I owned which has a delicious lemonade scent that makes one look forward to using them.

Ole Henriksen Lemonade Smoothing Scrub

It has a yellow slushie texture but you can feel the exfoliating beads due to sugar exfoliants and lemon peels being used as a part of the scrubbing action so this smoothing scrub may not be a hit for those with delicate skin.

How To Use
1) Apply to wet skin and gently massage in.
2) Leave on for up to 2 minutes before rinsing, or rinse right away.
3) Use 2-3 times per week.

Sunburn Alert: This product contains an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that may increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun and particularly the possibility of sunburn. Use a sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and limit sun exposure while using this product for a week afterwards. Avoid the eye area. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately.

Performance and Ingredients

Ole Henriksen Lemonade Smoothing Scrub

Vegan, gluten-free and cruelty-free, Ole Henriksen Lemonade Smoothing Scrub is free of parabens, formaldehydes, formaldehyde-releasing agents, phthalates, mineral oil, retinyl palmitate, oxybenzone, coal tar, hydroquinone, sulfates SLS & SLES, triclocarban, triclosan, and contains less than one percent synthetic fragrance.

I love the delightful lemonade scent as you massage in the scrub on damp skin, wait for 2 -3 minutes for the AHAs, Glycolic Acid and Lactic Acid to work and then rinse off. My skin is instantly smoother, softer and brighter looking. No kidding! Use this when you skin is congested and you can feel and see the difference immediately.

That said, it can be alittle drying at times, depending on your skin condition, so a hydrating serum or moisturiser is needed.

Lemonade Smoothing Scrub is a physical and chemical exfoliant, however, the sugar and lemon peel exfoliants can be a little abrasive for those with delicate skin so use with care and due to the inclusion of AHAs, please be reminded to wear your sunscreen as it may increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun.

Conclusion

To conclude, Ole Henriksen Lemonade Smoothing Scrub is a physical and chemical exfoliant that left my skin instantly smoother, softer and brighter looking. Great for congested days or when you have neglected your exfoliation for weeks. I wouldn't recommend for those with delicate skin as it may feel slightly abrasive for them.
