Product Description
Axis-y Complete No-Stress Physical Sunscreen is a mugwort based sunscreen featuring 2% Niacinamide and Squalane that protects skin from UVA and UVB damage while providing the healing properties of skin-loving ingredients for an every day, no-stress life. It contains no artificial fragrance and is allergen-free.
After hearing much raves about Axis-y Complete No-Stress Physical Sunscreen on Instagram, I was elated to receive it from Axis-y as part of a paid partnership. Being in a humid country like Singapore with summer weather all year round, non-greasy and effective sunscreens are very important to me.
This is a cruelty-free physical sunscreen that uses Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide as UV blockers. It is free from artificial colorants, mineral oils, fragrances and parabens. Infused green tea extract and plant-derived squalene help soothe skin.
Packaging, Scent and Texture
Axis-y Complete No-Stress Physical Sunscreen comes in a 50ml plastic tube with a sturdy nozzle dispenser like Axis-y Heartleaf My-Type Calming Cream. I like such kind of dispensers as it is precise and you get to control the amount you need without any wastage or messiness.
White in colour, the sunscreen has a creamy texture with a calming scent and applies with a subtle cooling sensation.
How To Use :
1) Apply an appropriate amount to face and neck.
2) Blend and pat to completely absorb.
Performance and Ingredients
Axis-y Complete No-Stress Physical Sunscreen uses reef safe ingredients (only physical active ingredients) and is said to have minimal to no white cast, stickiness, or pilling for no stress to our mornings and the environment.
For the uninitiated, sunscreens that contain active ingredients like Oxybenzone and Octinoxate contribute to mass bleaching of coral reefs, leading to some countries banning the use of these sunscreens to protect the oceanic habitat.
And as a climate inspired brand, Axis-y sought to create a reliable sunscreen with total protection that would not harm the environment.
To prove that you are getting the real deal, each Axis-y product comes with an authenticity checker in the form of QR code that also acts as a seal on Axis-y's box packaging where you can check if your product is genuine.
Scan the QR code on the packaging and a security code would appear on the website as shown above.
The final result will reflect if your product is genuine. No more worries about getting fake products!
Complete No-Stress Physical Sunscreen has a calming and soothing sensation upon application, with a light white cast that requires some massaging to blend into the skin, leaving just a minimal one. It has a semi-matte finishing that is non-greasy and non-sticky but can be drying on skin.
On regular days without makeup, I can get away with just using the sunscreen however, on make-up days, the dry patches around the edges of nose can be pretty obvious. A hydrating routine is definitely recommended when using this sunscreen. Those with oily skin might like this.
With the SPF controversy back in 2020 where concern was raised after a sunscreen sold by a Korean beauty brand was allegedly found to have a lower SPF than what was advertised, you would be glad to know that Axis-y Complete No-Stress Physical Sunscreen SPF 50+ PA++++ adheres to the following ISO standard : In-Vivo SPF test (ISO 24444:2019)
At SPF50 PA++++, this sunscreen helps to protect against UVA and UVB rays where an SPF 50 product protects you from 98% of the UVB “burning” rays that penetrate your skin and PA++++ offers extremely High UVA protection..
The letters “PA” followed by plus signs (PA+, PA++, PA+++, and PA++++) on a label are a rating system developed in Japan to represent how much UVA protection the product offers.
In terms of ingredients, CosDNA has given the product a good safety rating ( score 1 - 2 ) for most of the ingredients.
And as part of its 6 + 1 + 1 series, the 6 Base Ingredients in Complete No-Stress Physical Sunscreen are Calendula, Grape, Green Tea, Chamomile, Squalane, Allantoin with 1 Core Ingredient ( Mugwort ) and 1 Effective Technology ( SYN-COLL ).
And the sunscreen filters used in the formula are....
Calendula : Anti-inflammatory properties to soothe the skin
Grape : Forms a protective film on skin
Green Tea : Soothes irritated and inflamed skin
Chamomile : Soothes skin sensitivities caused by sun exposure
Squalane : Keeps skin young by fighting off free radicals
Allantoin : Aids in the healing of skin, increases skin smoothness, fights premature aging
Mugwort : Lowers the heat of the skin and clears the blood to help skin elasticity and radiance
SYN-COLL : Also known as Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5, this is a unique peptide sequence that imitates the body's collagen production and contains anti-aging effects
Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide : Physical UV blocking ingredients
As a mineral-based sunscreen active ingredient, zinc oxide reflects light off the surface of the skin where the sunscreen is applied back into the environment, much like a mirror.
Zinc oxide can be ‘micronized,’ meaning it’s processed into very small particles, so small that the preparation appears clear when applied on the skin. Non-micronized formulations are often less cosmetically elegant and are more opaque or white. So, if you’ve ever applied a sunscreen that left a white, powdery cast on your body, it most likely contained zinc oxide as a key ingredient.
Zinc oxide isn’t the only sunscreen ingredient used to block harmful UVA and UVB rays. Many sunscreens contain an ingredient called Titanium Dioxide, which, like Zinc Oxide, is typically found in mineral sunscreens. It’s also considered safe since it does not penetrate the skin and offers broad-spectrum protection against both UVA and UVB rays.
Both Zinc Oxide and Titanium Oxide have been shown to be non-toxic when used on the skin and to not break down when exposed to the sun, which is vital. ( source )
