Bioderma Sensibio H20 Micelle Solution has always been my holy grail micellar water, but occasionally, I love to try other brands and this time, I chose Isntree, one of my favourite brands for this year.
Founded in 2012 by a popular Korean beauty blogger named Jinwoo Kim, Isntree (pronounced IS-N-Tree) is a clean beauty brand from South Korea with a focus on the finest eco-friendly, natural ingredients to deliver quality skincare products that are effective yet affordable.
Inspired by the many clean and pure islands of the Korean peninsula, it is this inspiration that gave birth to the name Isntree: IS - Island, N- Nature and TREE.
Packaging, Scent and Texture
Isntree Micellar Washing Cleansing Water is housed in a 300ml clear plastic bottle with a flick top cap. There is no scent and the clear liquid looks and feels like water with a slight hint of viscosity.
How To Use :
1) Use on dry skin.
2) Moisten cotton pads with cleansing water.
3) Gently wipe skin from inside to outside of face until residue is is gone.
3) Rinse with lukewarm water.

Performance and Ingredients
Isntree Micellar Washing Cleansing Water contains fine micellar particles which absorb wastes like a magnet, cleansing the skin clearly and cleanly. The acidulous pH adjusts the oil-moisture balance and protects the moisture film healthily. Natural surfactant and mineral-rich maple water cleanse the skin mildly and safely.
For the uninitiated, Micellar is a spherical particle friendly with both oil and water where oil-friendly lipophilic molecules absorb residue for deep cleansing and water-friendly hydrophilic molecules provide moisture to skin.
Micellar cleansing water is usually gentle enough for most skin types and the most popular one in the market would be Bioderma Micelle Solution which I am a huge fan of. Isntree Micellar Washing Cleansing Water comes close but it would never take over Bioderma, based on my skin type.
It is non-sticky, non-greasy, gentle, mild and effective in removing makeup, however, the ability to remove heavier makeup may require more cotton pads ( as expected ) and it stings occasionally on dehydrated or sensitive skin. I use this as a first-cleanse and would still follow up with my regular cleanser.
That said, Isntree Micellar Washing Cleansing Water has a pH value of 5.5 to 6.5 which falls into the healthy range as it helps to strengthen the stratum corneum and protects skin. According to Isntree, if the pH value is too high, the skin oil and water membrane will collapse and if the pH value is too low, oil and water will be secreted excessively.
In terms of ingredients, Isntree Micellar Washing Cleansing Water contains the following...
Acer Saccharum (Sugar Maple) Sap : Derived from sugar maple seeds in Quebec, Canada, this maple water contains vitamins, potassium, magnesium and other minerals nourishes and moisturizes kin and soothes irritation caused by environmental factors.
Polyglyceryl-4 Caprate : A non-ionic vegetable surfactant with no PEG content and dissolves makeup quickly and has low skin irritation.
Lauryl Betaine : Water-soluble surfactant extracted from coconut oil and corn. A low-irritant ingredient that does not irritate the skin's mucous membranes and enables soft cleansing.

Conclusion
To conclude, Isntree Micellar Washing Cleansing Water is a gentle and mild makeup remover to remove simple makeup and sunscreen, however it may requires more cotton pads for heavier makeup and stings occasionally on dehydrated and sensitive skin. Not a repurchase for me.
