Product Description
This CC Cream of pure botanical technology and color control concentrate gathers together in itself all the skincare and makeup actions in one single gesture. Instantaneously, the skin is unified, protected, luminous, smoothed and plumped. It offers intense hydration thanks to the Centifolia Roses Native Cells and a deep glow provided by the Alba Roses Native Cells.
After my holy grail BB Cream in VMV Hypoallergenics Skintangible SPF30 runs out, I was in search of another tinted product and chanced upon By Terry Moisturizing CC Cream during a sale and subsequently purchased it.
I have only tried a couple of CC creams but most did not work out too well for me - poor oil control and very light shades even for my fair skin.
For the uninitiated, do you know the difference between BB cream and CC cream? While they are awesome picks for days you want to wear minimal makeup, they are not quite the same.
Often short for “beauty balm” or “blemish balm,” BB cream is a skin-first product, meaning it’s meant to hydrate, illuminate, protect or mattify the skin. It offers sheerer coverage than foundation, which is great for everyday use or for anyone who embraces skinimalism or loves that skin first makeup look.
Generally, CC cream stands for color correcting cream or complexion corrector cream. It neutralizes the appearance of imperfections by utilizing colors opposite each other on the color wheel (i.e. green cancels out red). A CC cream won't necessarily treat the skin conditions it covers, but it will neutralize them to make them less visible. It also provides SPF coverage, brighteners to help the skin look less dull, and hydrates the skin. Offering more coverage than BB creams, CC creams also serve multiple purposes—including disguising imperfections such as dark spots or redness—and they tend to have thicker, heavier formulas.
As International Makeup Designer of YSL Beauté for 15 years, Terry invented countless products and formulas, including the iconic Touché Eclat in 1992. Indeed, radiance and a healthy, but an invisible complexion has always been key to Terry’s approach to make up, so when she decided to launch her own collection of products in 1998, BY TERRY was born as a bespoke 'couture' beauty line offering made to measure cosmetics.
Terry de Gunzburg will continue to bring the latest cutting-edge innovations in beauty and be the leader in makeup that cares for your skin, the environment and for who you are to suit all people, all ages and all kinds of beauty. You can read more about the story on their website.
Packaging, Scent and Texture
By Terry Cellularose Moisturizing CC Cream comes in a beautiful baby pink 40g that dispenses the required amount through the metal pump nozzle easily. I chose mine in 01 Nude shade. This is said to be a multi-purpose product - tinted moisturiser, colour corrector, skin-smoothing effect, contains skincare benefits.
It has a lightweight texture with a slight runny consistency. Feels emollient upon application. The signature rose scent is lovely but not overpowering, hence, providing a sensorial experience.
Unfortunately, for the price I am paying, I am disappointed to see that the fonts on the tube have rubbed off after several months of usage. Since its touted as a luxury product, I would have expected better printing quality.
How To Use :
1) Apply generous amounts daily in the morning.
2) Use fingertips from the middle of the face outwards in smoothing movements.
3) Avoid eyebrows.
Tip : Can also be used on the neck and décolletage.
Performance and Ingredients
Infused with white and pastel rose stem cells the multi-tasking Moisturizing CC Cream is a skincare savior that acts as a tinted moisturizer and a color corrector. The lightweight texture glides onto the skin and works to deliver intense hydration, blur imperfections and create a radiance-boosting effect. Exceptional lightweight foundation for dry skin. Non-oily. Adapts to every complexion.
Made in France, By Terry Cellularose Moisturizing CC Cream comes across as a non-oily, subtly tinted CC cream that refreshes the look of tired skin, provides an even-looking complexion and makes my skin look better than it is, in a healthy way.
The 01 shade blends in well with my fair skin tone, however, it has a very sheer coverage and is best suited for use on optimal skin days or for those with not much imperfections or blemishes to conceal. You can't even tell that I am wearing anything on my face.
It has moderate oil control and doesn't darken or oxidise which is great. If I use the CC cream alone, it oils up faster on my T-zone so I prefer to pair it with powder for longer wear. I usually apply the CC cream with my fingers and set it with my RMS Beauty "Un" Powder for that no-makeup make-up look. This lacks SPF coverage so do wear a sunscreen beneath before any makeup.
Sometimes, I also use it as a highlighter on the cheekbones, to give a touch of radiance to my dull complexion.
That said, like most foundation and tinted products, except for my favourite VMV Hypoallergenics Skintangible SPF30, they tend to cake on dehydrated/dry skin, leaving flakiness behind so always ensure well-hydrated skin before application.
In terms of technology, White Rose stem cells boost radiance and add protection to the skin. Pastel Rose stem cells provide an intense hydration to the skin. Formula enriched with the ‘Optical glow’ technology that mixes light-reflecting prisms, soft-focus micro-spheres and color correcting pigments to blur imperfections and even out the skin tone for an even, radiant complexion.
- an intense hydration thanks to the Pastel Rose Native Cells
- a deep glow provided by the White Rose Native Cells
- a youth protection released by antioxidant Vitamin E
- a natural long lasting perfection revealed by the unique CC - Colour Control corrective technology

Conclusion
To conclude, By Terry Cellularose Moisturizing CC Cream is a lovely CC cream for that no-makeup makeup look. Lightweight in texture, it contains By Terry's signature rose fragrance, has a sheer coverage, evens out my complexion, reduces the redness and leaves a healthy-looking finish.
It is not suitable for those who needs more coverage for imperfections and blemishes, but you can always use this as a glowing base before a foundation.
That said, it has moderate oil-control and I do need some powder for a longer wear, than using it alone. However, it also emphasizes dry patches, like most tinted products and foundations so do ensure well-hydrated skin.
