Packaging, Scent and Texture
Neal's Yard Remedies Wild Rose Beauty Balm comes in a retail size of 50g ( and a muslin cloth ) while mine was a free gift which comes in a 15g size, however both sizes have the same beautiful floral illustration which I adored.
As the name implies, this is a rose-scented balm which is yellow in colour. Greasy in texture, it may not be a hit for everyone, especially for those with oily skin but fret not, as it has many uses. In fact, according to Neal's Yard Remedies, there are 16 different ways of using it!
How To Use :
Use beauty balm all over to soothe, nourish, and hydrate skin.
As an exfoliating cleanser : Use with the enclosed Organic Muslin Face Cloth for a gently exfoliating radiance boost.
As an intensive nourishing treatment : Leave on for 30 minutes or overnight for an extra nourishing boost.
For Finishing touches : Tame eyebrows, highlight your cheekbones and give your lips a beautiful sheen.
Performance and Ingredients
Neal's Yard Remedies Wild Rose Beauty Balm has been on my wish list for awhile so imagine my delight when I received it as a free gift. Talk about making customers happy....:)
Being a floral lover, I love the pretty illustrations printed on the paper and pasted on the glass tub, the pink colour goes well with it and it was screaming feminine chic all over.
Next, the wild rose scent with rosemary essential oil is so lovely and soothing, giving one a nice sensorial experience. That said, balms can be considered as a very rich texture for those who are not used to it, like me. I like using balms to nourish dry areas or as healing potions but its not something I prefer using for the face.
According to Neal's Yard Remedies, you can originally use it as a cleanser, exfoliant or as a moisturizer but it has now been expanded to 16 different types of uses in total. Now, it certainly sounds like a value-for-money pot, considering its not exactly inexpensive.
16 Ways Of Using Neal's Yard Remedies Wild Rose Beauty Balm
As a Cleanser : Apply, then wipe away with the muslin cloth to gently exfoliate for a real radiance boost.
As a Moisturising Treatment : Massage onto freshly-cleansed skin for a deep moisture boost.
As a Lip Balm : Prevent dryness and keep lips luscious.
As a Make-up Primer : Add a small amount to cheekbones for a healthy glow.
As a Heel Softener : Massage balm onto heels after washing and exfoliating the feet.
As an Eyebrow Tamer : A small amount helps smoothen out unruly brows.
As a Summer Skin Saviour : Dab on in the evening to nourish holiday skin and maintain your sun-kissed glow.
As a Mask : Cleanse as normal, apply WRBB to dry skin, steam by using muslin cloth and hot water, leave for 30 minutes, remove with muslin cloth and warm water.
As an Overnight Rescue : Apply a small amount to clean skin, massage in circular motions, leave overnight to revive dull lacklustrue skin.
As a Hair Treatment : Use as hair and scalp treatment by applying to dry hair and scalp, massage, wrap a warm towel around head, leave for 20 minutes and shampoo twice to remove.
As a Hair Balm : For dry and curly hair, warm a little balm on finger tips, add to ends of hair, shaping curls as you apply.
As a Flight Repair : On flight, wear WRBB as moisturiser to lock in moisture and nourish skin so you arrive with fresh glowing complexion.
As a Heal Balm : For dry cracked heels, apply after warm bath, massage onto dry feet and leave overnight.
As an SOS Balm : Use on mild burns, bites and grazes to help heal skin and as an anti-bacterial protection.
As Cuticle and Nail Treat : Apply onto cuticles to encourage strong nail growth.
As Sports Barrier : Apply before skiiing, swimming and outdoor activities to protect and nourish exposed skin.
Because of the heavy balmy texture, I don't fancy using it on my combination skin type but mainly use it as a SOS Balm and Cuticle and Nail Treat.
- On bug bites or sting to help prevent itching
- On dry cuticles and nails to nourish them
- On mild eczema patches to reduce itch and redness
- On dry and irritated areas for healing purposes
I have to add in a disclaimer that the beauty balm isn't a one pot wonder for me, based on the above usages. I need several times of usages before I can see the effect or improvement, however, it does soothe bug bites instantly.
Neal's Yard Remedies Wild Rose Beauty Balm is rich in provitamin A (a source of beta-Carotene), vitamin E and rosehip seed oil which are highly beneficial to the skin.

Conclusion
To conclude, Neal's Yard Remedies Wild Rose Beauty Balm might work great as a cleanser or moisturiser for some but its not for my combination skin type due to its greasy balmy texture hence I mainly use it as a healing balm.
That said, I won't pay the current price if I am using it for healing purposes as there are many products out there which can do the job too, hence it won't be a repurchase. However, if you use it as a cleanser or exfoliator, the price might be more worth it for you.
