After a positive experience with Naruko Rose Hydrating Tone Up Cream SPF 30, I was eager to try out Cute Press Tone Up Sunscreen, especially since I have been opting for low maintenance, natural, no-makeup look due to the mandatory mask-wearing in Singapore.
Tone-up sunscreen helps to block out harmful ultraviolet rays as well as brightens dull complexion to create a more even and fair skin tone so its great for lazy, minimal-effort-makeup days.
How To Use :Apply on face and neck as the last step in your morning skincare regime.
Formulated in Korea, Cute Press Tone Up Sunscreen is housed in a sweet 30g pink tube which is handy and convenient for travels. It dispenses easily through a small hole from the tube which is fuss-free.
Free from alcohol, mineral oil and paraben, this tone-up sunscreen has a sweet floral scent with a pale pink light texture that is easy to spread and quickly absorbed to skin, without much stickiness and greasiness.
The flattering pink shade has a subtle instant brightening effect and once massaged well, it blends into my skin tone seamlessly. Its soft matte finishing left skin slightly smoother and more even-toned as well as looking fresh, shine-free, glowing and less dull.
The sweat-proof and water-resistant formula also controls sebum production and I really like its mattifying capability on my T-zone which tends to oil up easily. My skin remains matte even after 5 hours on optimal skin days. Perfect for Singapore hot and humid weather.
However, on dehydrated skin days, my T-zone oils up after 3 hours of wear and my face would look slightly shiny overall. Adding my holy grail RMS Beauty "Un" Powder helps to mattify the shine so its not a major issue. This product was also featured in my Top 21 Beauty Empties I Loved in 2021.
In terms of ingredients, the tone-up sunscreen contains chamomile extracts to soothe skin after sun exposure and deep sea minerals to lock in moisture.
At SPF50+ PA++, this sunscreen helps to protect against UVA and UVB rays where an SPF 50 product protects you from 98% of the UVB “burning” rays that penetrate your skin and PA++ offers moderate UVA protection.
The letters “PA” followed by plus signs (PA+, PA++, PA+++, and PA++++) on a label are a rating system developed in Japan to represent how much UVA protection the product offers.
The sunscreen filters used in the formula are....
Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate : Often listed on sunscreen products as Octinoxate, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate (also called Octyl Methoxycinnamate) is used in products that are applied to the skin to absorb, reflect or scatter UV rays; it protects the skin from sunburn and other damaging effects of the sun. Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate is a chemical sun blocking agent that absorbs ultraviolet radiation in UVB range. However, it is not very stable when exposed to sunlight as it breaks down and loses its effectiveness over time so it should be combined with other sunscreen agents to give stable and broad-spectrum protection. Ethylhexyl Salicylate : Ethylhexyl Salicylate, also known as Octisalate, is used as an ingredient in sunscreens and cosmetics to absorb UVB rays from the sun. It is thought to be a weak sunscreen as it does not protect at all from UVA rays. Because of that, it is rarely used alone. Instead, it is typically combined with other chemical sunscreens, like avobenzone, on which it is said to have a stabilizing effect. The chemical degrades fairly quickly, though, when exposed to sunlight, so is unlikely to add much protection, particularly after you’ve had the product on for awhile so it's always used in combination with other sunscreen agents to further enhance the SPF and to solubilize other solid UV filters. Zinc Oxide : As a mineral-based sunscreen active ingredient, zinc oxide reflects light off the surface of the skin where the sunscreen is applied back into the environment, much like a mirror. It is a photostable, broad-spectrum sunscreen ingredient which protects against both UVA and UVB rays.

To conclude, Cute Press Tone Up Sunscreen SPF50+ PA++ is a lovely tone-up sunscreen which I adored for its sebum-control capability and subtle natural glow to skin on good skin days. However, I would not reach out for this if my skin is dehydrated as it oils up and made my skin look shiny and slightly greasy.

Cute Press 8 Hr Full Night Sleep Overnight Mask comes in a pretty 50g blue glass tub with a lovely dark blue gel texture. A free spatula is included in each pack for easier access to the overnight gel mask.
The cooling and refreshing gel texture soothes the skin while the gentle, calming aroma is said to help one relax before bed. It has a subtle tackiness which takes awhile to be absorbed into skin.
I also tried using the 8 Hr Full Night Sleep Overnight Mask on its own, in place of my night moisturizer. It hydrates well but stings slightly on dehydrated areas. However, because of its lightweight texture, I prefer to use it as an overnight mask, layering it on top of my usual night care routine.
Overall, the overnight gel mask is a great addition as the last step to your skincare routine for added moisture especially if you are sleeping in an air-conditioned room or fresh look, if you are combating restless nights. My skin is hydrated, plump, fresh-looking and rested the following morning.
Also perfect for those who have sleepless nights due to studying, partying, netflix-ing or caring for your little ones where the mask will revive and lock up moisture in your skin for up to 10 hours as it
helps to keep skin looking fresh and glowing as though you have a good 8 hours of restful sleep.

Cute Press 1 Night Brightening Overnight Mask is housed in a similar 50g glass tub as the Cute Press 8 Hr Full Night Sleep Overnight Mask but its yellow in colour with a chirpy vibe. Has a zesty citrus scent that lifts up your mood instantly. Also comes with a free spatula to pick up the gel contents.
Light yellow in colour, the gel mask is very lightweight and sinks into the skin quickly without any greasiness, leaving a hint of cooling sensation in its place and a touch of tackiness which disappeared after a short while.
Skin looked slightly brighter instantly after application and felt softer and smoother the following morning. After a week of usage, there was a subtle radiance to skin overall.
I also tried using this overnight mask alone, however, it did not provide the level of hydration which my combination-dehydrated skin craves for, hence leading to rough skin the following morning. This was expected as the main focus for this overnight mask was brightening.
Overall, the hydration was slightly lacking for my combination-dehydrated skin type, but the issue can be easily rectified with a good hydrating serum or moisturizer.

To conclude, Cute Press 1 Night Brightening Overnight Mask brightens, helps to reduce dullness and provides a subtle radiance to skin.
That said, it may not provide sufficient hydration for those with dehydrated or dry skin but you can always layer with a good hydrating serum or moisturizer underneath.

This is my favourite out of the 3 sleeping/overnight masks as my skin was irritated and sensitive during the Phase 2 ( Heightened Alert ) in Singapore so I found myself to be reaching out for this mask the most.
Calming Cica Sleeping Mask is said to soothe sensitive and acne-prone skin, reduce redness and calm skin irritation and instantly boost your skin’s moisture level and keeping skin hydrated all night long.
Indeed, it truly delivers. The mask helps to minimize redness on skin, "zap" away a new zit, "flatten" a healing zit and "ripen" an old zit by the following morning. Isn't that wonderful?

Apply the sunscreen in the day and choose among the 3 different overnight masks according to your needs at night. Go for the Cute Press 8 Hr Full Night Sleep Overnight Mask if you need more moisture at night, reach out for Cute Press 1 Night Brightening Overnight Mask if your skin is dull and choose Cute Press Calming Cica Sleeping Mask if you are battling with sensitive and acne-prone skin.
