( At the point of writing, their products are now available in our local Sephora ). Their mission was to remove the hyperbole that saturates the skincare industry and make natural skincare fun, hence they named it as Frank which uses natural and naturally derived ingredients that are tested on babes, not bunnies.

Made in Australia, vegan and cruelty-free, Frank Body Original Coffee Scrub is the first product from the brand and is still winning fans around the region. It has now come up with many variants of different flavours, as well as products for the face and lips. Check out the full range here. 

Their personal branding and marketing strategy come across as strong and cohesive, with images of happy ladies and men covered in coffee grounds on their faces and bodies and having fun, splashed across social media channels, making their presence known around the world. Review : Dr. Jart+ Dermask Water Jet Vital Hydra Solution

Product Description
A cellulose sheet mask that deeply hydrates, replenishes, and protects skin's own moisture. It immediately hydrates dry skin due to lack of moisture while aquaxyl—a patent moisturizing ingredient—enhances moisture retention and strengthen barrier function.

Key Ingredients : 
Ultra-low molecular weight hyaluronic acid : activates skin moisture with high absorption

I purchased 1 sheet of Dr. Jart+ Dermask Water Jet Vital Hydra Solution when I was in Seoul and on the back of the packaging is a label stating one to use a magnet to verify its authenticity.

Unfortunately, I can't get it to work - there was no reaction when I placed a magnet behind the label. I think I may have done it wrongly somehow, because I am sure that its a genuine product as I purchased it from Olive Young in Myeongdong.

Do note that fake versions of Korean products have been in the news for a while, you can check it here and here. Tracy from Fanserviced-B has written an in-depth article on how you can check its authenticity with apps. I have downloaded Hiddentag app to try to scan my Papa Recipe Sheet Masks but I just can't get the scanning done right and I gave up after 15 minutes.

Made of fine cellulose fiber, the lightweight, transparent Dr. Jart+ Dermask Water Jet Vital Hydra Solution mask allows pores to fully absorb essential nutrients and moisturizing ingredients for an ultimate hydration therapy. The material is very thin and soft, making it a comfortable feel on face. The scent was very minimal and I can hardly detect one.

The cutting was good, except for a slight gap between nose and cheeks and the undereye area is not fully covered.

After a 20 minute masking session, my skin was deeply moisturised and after applying Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner followed by Naruko Magnolia Brightening and Firming Lotion EX, my skin was so smooth and supple which lasted till the following day.

Despite formulated without parabens, phthalates and sulfates, do note that Dr. Jart+ Dermask Water Jet Vital Hydra Solution does contain alcohol located in the 4th position in the list, which I can do without. If you are sensitive to alcohol then you may want to take note.

However, the mask do contain several humectants in the top part of the ingredient list like Panthenol, Betaine, Xylitylglucoside, Anhydroxylitol, Xylitol and Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid which explained the hydrating effects. I owned 2 sheets of Dr. Jart+ Dermask Water Jet Soothing Hydra Solution and used it once a week. Made of fine cellulose fiber, the lightweight, transparent mask allows pores to fully absorb essential nutrients and moisturizing ingredients for an ultimate hydration therapy.

Formulated without parabens, sulphates and phthalates, each sheet mask is protected within a plastic paper. There was a herbal minty scent which dissipated shortly after layering it on skin. The material is thin and very soft on skin. Cutting is food except for a small gap between cheek and nose and does not fully cover the undereye area.

After a 20 minute masking session, my skin is brimming with moisture and is very well hydrated. Soft and smooth skin too!

In terms of ingredients, it contains several humectants like Panthenol, Betaine, Xylitylglucoside, Anhydroxylitol, Xylitol, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract and Bambusa Vulgaris Extract which help to provide moisture to skin. However, do note that there is alcohol located in the 4th place where those sensitive to alcohol may need to take note.

How To Transit To An Eco-Friendly Beauty Routine

I joined several Zero-Waste groups on Facebook, brought reusable bags wherever I go, sent my plastic bottles to the recycling bins, lined my garbage bin with newspapers and packed food in my lunchbox, but truth to be told, there is still a long way for me to go, before I can truly be a zero-waster.

Beauty is something that I found it difficult to switch to a more eco-friendly routine as bar soaps do not work well on my skin and hair. If you are also like me, I am here to share alternatives to how one can slowly transit to a eco-friendly beauty routine. Relish in the fact that you are contributing some positive environmental change for the next generation.

Look for packaging that limits the use of glosses and foils (which are messy to make), avoid metal overshells, fancy packaging add-ons and giant ornate lids. Buy bigger bottles less often, instead of smaller bottles more often. Look for products that are packaged in more simple containers, using recyclable and recycled materials, recycled plastic, and fully recyclable pumps.

Focus on slowly introducing one-time swaps and double-duty products. That way, your routine will be easier to keep up with in the long run.

Use a Stainless-Steel Safety Razor instead of Disposable Plastic ones
It is said that a safety razor actually give a cleaner shave that lasts longer and leads to less ingrown hairs. Stainless steel blades also last longer and can be recycled, so you will save money and some environmental impact.

The 500ml square bottle comes with a pump dispenser and is easy to use, even though the contents are slightly runny. The body shampoo contains 94% organic and natural ingredients and is SLS-free and SLES-free.

To conclude, the body shampoo is not for my skin type as its drying. Even though a body lotion may solve the problem but a body shampoo should not be drying, as far as I am concerned. It would not be a re-purchase for me.

A little goes a long way and the 120ml bottle lasted me for several months. It comes in an opaque plastic bottle with a pump dispenser. 1 pump is enough for my face and the greyish-white lotion texture has a lightweight and emollient consistency. The light floral scent is still bearable for me, it is strong only when you put your nose to it. What I didn't like is the text printed in white against a beige background which is the colour of the bottle which makes reading the instructions and ingredients pretty annoying.

I received a 2.5g travel sized Benefit Cosmetics Watt's Up Highlighter as a birthday gift from Sephora some time back. It is small, portable and travel-friendly. I brought it along for my travels, so that I can look "glowy" in photos or for that no-makeup makeup look. The mini size does not come with the sponge applicator as shown above but it lasts for quite a long while, since I only use it on my cheeks.

Benefit Cosmetics recommendation : 
Apply the highlighter on your cheek and chin and blend.
Repeat the process under the eyes, above the brows and on the brow bone to brighten your look.

Creamy in texture with a golden champagne colour, it suits well on my fair skin. There is no glitter or greasy look, but a subtle pearly sheen that makes my skin look better than it actually is. It is sheer and so natural-looking that you can even wear it to school without anyone realizing it.

I usually like to apply Watt's Up Highlighter on those bare make-up look days where I only had BB Cream and Loose Powder for that soft dewy glow effect. I will glide the highlighter on the top of my cheeks and use my fingers to blend.

I also use it on days where I will apply blusher, and the highlighter would be the last step for that well-defined sculpted cheeks appearance.

I purchased a pack of 10 sheets from Missha store in Seoul late last year, simply because I adore the scent of chocolate in my masks. Infused with Cocoa Extract, the Gloomy Day mask is said to nourish dehydrated and fatigued skin while leaving the skin supple and soft.

Made in Korea and containing 23ml contents, Missha X Kelly Park A Mask Sheet Only For Me Gloomy Day Facial Mask Sheet smells absolutely delicious with a strong scent of cocoa. Each sheet mask is individually packed and folded with a plastic mesh protective layering.

The micro-fine fabric mask sheet is brown-red in colour, soft, thin and has a comfortable fit which adheres to the skin perfectly to deliver nutrition. There is a slight gap between the nose and cheeks as illustrated above and it also does not cover the sides of the nose area too.

However, I really enjoyed using the mask as the the cold and refreshing sensation, together with the cocoa scent makes the masking a really pampering and relaxing session. I love using it in the hot afternoon or at night after a tiring work day. Skin looked slightly more radiant too!

The forehead is the first area of a person's face to begin to wrinkle.  The forehead is very different from other areas of our body and this causes it to wrinkle first.  There is no fat underneath the forehead while the rest of the face has fat deposits that will help deter wrinkles. 

Forehead wrinkles can be frustrating, but they’re nothing to furrow your brow over. As annoying and stubborn as they may be, lines on the forehead in particular are also very common, because our eyebrows are responsible for so many of our expressions. When it comes to getting rid of wrinkles, it all comes down to collagen; one way or another, your skin needs more of it to fill the lines. (That, or the muscles that created the line in the first place get frozen up ). Here's what you can do.

1) Sleep Position
If you tend to lie on your stomach with your face pressed into your pillow, then you’ll be more at risk of developing wrinkles on your forehead. Start sleeping on your back to reduce wrinkles but if you really can't, then invest in a good quality silk pillowcase. Other than reducing your wrinkles, it leave you less puffy in the morning and for anyone with rosacea, silk will be less abrasive on your face than your run-of-the-mill cotton covers, which can help reduce redness.

Also known as a Facial In A Flash mask series, which is part of a set of metal-infused, hydrogel sheet mask - cut and packaged into two halves — meant to be applied to the face in pieces. The goal is to mish-mosh the different mask halves together to create your own custom treatment.

There are 3 varieties of the Facial In A Flash series :
- Soothe-n-Purify Black Gold Mask, which is packed with brightening vitamin C, detoxifying charcoal, and anti-inflammatory gold to calm the skin
-  Lines Be-Gone Rose Gold Mask, a treatment packed with vitamin A and rose to lift
- Get Glowin Platinum Mask is a brightening treatment formulated with vitamin B3 to bring a bit of radiance back to your complexion.

Said to combat ageing by firming the skin, Skin Inc Rose Gold Mask has 2 individually packed masks in each box where one is for the top half of the face (T-zone and eye areas) and the other for the bottom half (cheeks, mouth and chin areas).

The hydrogel material is glooey and slippery with a cooling sensation. The cutting fits well for my face shape and has a familiar-but-hard-to-describe scent.

After a 30 minute treatment session, my skin looked slightly clearer, fresher and revitalized but I am unable to see any lifting effect for now. Perhaps it may be more obvious for sagging skin. However, at this price point, I guess I was expecting much more - like younger, smoother, bouncy skin?

Review : Avani Natural Mineral Body Scrub ( Milk/Honey )

Happened to stumble upon some promotional prices for Avani products when I was shopping online on Singsale and promptly paid for a tub of the Avani Natural Mineral Body Scrub ( Milk/Honey ).

In the Mineral Body Scrub series, there are 3 variants : Milk/Honey, Citrus/Vanilla and Pear/Apple but the Milk/Honey just sounds more lovely to me, making me closer to having skin like Cleopatra.

Made in Israel, AVANI is a line of Dead Sea products manufactured and developed by AVANI Supreme Inc. Their innovative and advanced skin-care cosmetic products are formulated from the unique salts, mud and minerals of the Dead Sea and made with choice natural ingredients specifically chosen for their environmentally friendly properties. Avani Natural Mineral Body Scrub ( Milk/Honey ) is housed in a large round jar containing 400g of contents which is mixture of Dead Sea Salts and Soothing Oils. The Dead Sea Salts will gently exfoliate your skin to remove dry skin and other impurities while the soothing oils will absorb quickly to leave skin nourished, smooth and softly scented.

When I first opened up the tube, all the salts were concentrated on the bottom while the oils were concentrated on the top so my first initial scrub got pretty greasy and sticky as I seemed to scoop more oil than salt. After a while, I got the hang of it, as I tried scooping the correct ratio of oil vs salt for a good scrubbing experience. 

The scent is subtle and the salt scrub is not too abrasive with a pretty good overall result as it gave my skin a very smooth after-feel with a light moisturising veil on top. You can also check out all the positive reviews on Amazon.
