Product Description
The body scrub to end all body scrubs, if I do say so myself. I’m 100% natural, vegan and ready to tackle breakouts, scars and marks. My blend of coffee and oils keep your skin looking perky, even and soft as a kitten with a blowout.
I heard so much about the brand so when I was in Australia, I made it a point to pick up Frank Body Original Coffee Scrub in Sephora. ( At the point of writing, their products are now available in our local Sephora ). Their mission was to remove the hyperbole that saturates the skincare industry and make natural skincare fun, hence they named it as Frank which uses natural and naturally derived ingredients that are tested on babes, not bunnies.
Made in Australia, vegan and cruelty-free, Frank Body Original Coffee Scrub is the first product from the brand and is still winning fans around the region. It has now come up with many variants of different flavours, as well as products for the face and lips. Check out the full range here.
Their personal branding and marketing strategy come across as strong and cohesive, with images of happy ladies and men covered in coffee grounds on their faces and bodies and having fun, splashed across social media channels, making their presence known around the world. But do they really have #thefrankeffect? Lets dive down.
The Original Coffee Scrub comes in a pretty pink paper packaging ( like an envelope for important documents ). Tear along the perforated dotted lines and you would see another brown paper packaging ( which looks tacky to me ) where the coffee scrub is contained in it. Do note that I have the old packaging ( as shown in this post ) as it has gone for a revamp, shortly after I bought mine.
It is said to fight breakouts, fades scars and marks. Skin will immediately look and feel tighter, brighter and more even. No more dry patches and skin would feel supple.
How To Use Frank Body Original Coffee Scrub:
- Cover your wet body in the scrub.
- Scrub in circular motions for a few minutes, from top to toe.
- Focus on areas that want extra attention by scrubbing them for longer: scars, stretch marks, breakouts or cellulite.
- Rinse off.

To be honest, coffee scrub is a tried and tested formula. It is difficult to go wrong with coffee scrub and with the right branding, it would stand out more than others.
According to a survey conducted by the Daejeon Metropolitan City Institute of Health and Environment in South Korea, coffee contains antioxidants such as polyphenols and flavonoids that can help combat free radicals.
It is also prized for its anti-inflammatory properties, which Harvard Medical School has attributed it to the caffeine content, coupled with powerful antioxidant substances such as polyphenols and hydrocinnamic acids. It can calm redness and give skin a more even tone.
Caffeine found in coffee can help dehydrate fatty cells, which in turn cause the water to disappear from the surface of your skin and minimise the appearance of cellulite. According to a study published in the 2008 Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, caffeine applied topically to mice reduced the diameter of fatty cells by 17 per cent, thus reducing the appearance of cellulite.
This also explained why there are more coffee scrubs in the market nowadays, with Frank Body Coffee Scrub being one of the more popular ones. It smells great and the granules has just the right abrasive effect, to make your body feel smooth and soft. However, if you are looking for one totally soaked in oil, this would not be the one as they are just slightly moist.
The slightly moist granules also tend to slip from the skin ( as you massage ) down to the floor, making a mess all over the bathroom floor and wall.
That aside, you step out of the shower, feeling energised with the coffee aroma, super clean when the dead cells are sloughed off and softer and smoother skin after the exfoliation. Nothing much to hate, really. Except that it does makes the bathroom floor and walls alittle messy.
In terms of ingredients, Frank Body Original Coffee Scrub has a short list, containing only 8 ingredients.

Here are the key ingredients :
Roasted And Ground Robusta Coffee Beans : Wakes the skin up. Buffs away dry, flaky skin to smooth over your lumps and bumps.
Cold Pressed Sweet Almond Oil : Army of Vitamins A, E and D hydrates and nourishes the skin. It makes skin smooth and supple.
Vitamin E : Full of antioxidants to fight dryness and fine lines. Nourishing, hydrating with anti-ageing properties.

To conclude, Frank Body Original Coffee Scrub smells good and is a great body exfoliator, making your skin soft and smooth but so are other coffee-based scrubs. It is not spectacular but if you enjoy using it, why not? There are other variants for you to switch around too.
