[ Review ] : Samanli Bamboo Charcoal Black Bubble Mask

Samanli Black Bubble Mask is a 1 step sheet mask made from bamboo charcoal which is effective in shrinking pores and helps with deep cleansing. Oxygen bubbles stimulate the skin to exfoliate dead skin cells and deeply penetrates the pores to thoroughly cleanse dirt while maintaining moisture and hydration.

I had fun with Purederm Deep Purifying Black O2 Bubble Mask previously so when Glowing Jems offered to send me their Bubble Masks in return for an honest review, I was happy to try them out.

Packaging, Scent and Cutting

When I first pulled out Samanli Bamboo Charcoal Cleansing Black Bubble Mask from its packaging, there were some tiny bubbles on it and has a distinct scent which did not linger for long.

Black in colour, the Black Bubble Mask has a soft material and layered well on skin with just the right cutting, fitting and adherence. It has tiny crackling sounds as the bubble mask started to bubble up slowly after 1 ~2 minutes on face.

The cutouts were smaller than expected so initially, I was worried about the bubbles getting into the nose and eyes but fret not, the mask actually holds up the bubbles rather well without any messiness or spillage.

How To Use :
1) Use mask after cleansing face
2) Rub the mask packaging in circular motions before opening it to activate the bubbles
3) Remove the thin protection layer after applying the mask and leave on for 15 minutes for best results
4) Rinse face after removing the mask
5) Apply skincare products 30 mins after using the mask

note : Keep the masks in room temperature

Performance 

How a bubble mask works is similar to how cleansers work as they help cleanse your skin, clear out your pores and remove the oil and dirt on your face. Subsequent products will also absorb better into the skin and as a result, your complexion will look smoother, brighter, and clearer! The only difference is, a bubble mask is not to be used daily, unlike a cleanser. It is like a treatment sheet mask for a little skin pampering!

Bubble masks use an oxygenation process to clear the skin, which is why these masks foam up into fizzy suds! When the oxygenation process is activated, extra oxygen can then penetrate the skin to detoxify the skin and deliver the essential nutrients the skin needs.

You would be happy to know that bubble masks have been compared to the coveted oxygen facial which is known to enhance blood circulation and amp up your skin’s collagen production as a lack of oxygen will amount to fine lines, wrinkles and dullness. Hence, they are commonly known to be a simpler and more affordable version of oxygen facials.


For someone who battles with blackheads on the nose on a daily basis, a good deep cleansing mask like Samanli Bamboo Charcoal Black Bubble Mask is much welcomed, especially when its so fun!

After 1 - 2 minutes of layering the bubble mask on the skin, tiny crackling sounds can be heard as the bubbles foamed up slowly. Have fun looking at yourself in the mirror while enjoying the bubbling experience! There was no irritation or drippy messiness and once 15 minutes are up, just remove the mask and rinse the face.

Removing the mask after 15 minutes

Skin felt slightly smoother and looked slightly brighter. Pores were cleaner. That said, there was a slight general taut sensation overall ( more on the upper lips area ) but it went away after a short while so its a minor issue for me.

As the mask also promotes deep cleansing, there were sebaceous filaments ( also known as sebum ) found on the sides of my nose that are white/yellow in colour which I cleaned it up with cotton pads.

In terms of ingredients, they are stated in Chinese language but I have done a google translation of the ingredients using an app, however, I cannot ascertain of its 100% accuracy.

Conclusion

Bubble masks have become a fan favourite among many beauty junkies for its deep cleansing properties and also work as great exfoliators to unclog pore gunk and remove excess sebum from the face, hence they can help improve acne and minimise the appearance of large pores.

On top of the fun I had with Samanli Bamboo Charcoal Black Bubble Mask, it also gave me slightly brighter, smoother skin with cleaner pores!
