Product Description
Remescar Eye Bags and Dark Circles is an instant and effective eye cream which helps to diminish bags under your eyes and the appearance of dark circles with just one single application per day. You’ll feel refreshed and feel years younger in just a few minutes, all day long. The effectiveness of Remescar Eye Bags and Dark Circles has also been proven clinically and works for all skin types.
I have been intrigued by the product for a long while so when I won a Watsons e-voucher some time back, it was apt for me to purchase it. I have eye bags due to genetics and nothing seems to be able to eradicate them hence I am forever on the hunt for that effective eye treatment product.
Made in Belgium, the Remescar products are developed and manufactured by Sylphar, a manufacturer of medical devices and cosmetic products which started in 2008. Their focus is on bringing out innovative, consumer friendly products that stand out because of their revolutionary technology.
The marketing campaign for Remescar Eye Bags and Dark Circles has been nothing short of amazing, demonstrating that the disappearance of eye bags can be instantaneous, as the product helps to drain and tighten the undereye area. The ad reminded me vaguely of Jeunesse Instantly Ageless Microcream.
Just check out the video below.
Packaging, Scent and Texture
Remescar Eye Bags and Dark Circles comes in a white travel-friendly tube with 8ml contents but the box packaging is so much larger than the tube, giving the illusion that the product is well worth the retail price of $54.
Remescar Eye Bags and Dark Circles Product Texture |
After spreading out Remescar Eye Bags & Dark Circles |
It is stated as fragrance-free on the box, so there is not much of a scent. Orange in colour, the texture feels like a gel with a subtle cooling sensation.
I don't fancy the dispenser as the tip dispenser dispenses either too much or too little gel contents and nearing to the end of tube, it was getting increasingly difficult to dispense it. Much force is required and may cause some spurting, resulting in wastage.
How To Use :
Step 1: Wash your face gently and pat dry.
Step 2: Squeeze out a small amount of product on your fingertip. You should aim for the size of a grain of rice; any less will not be enough, and any more is generally too much and won’t fully absorb into the skin or could cause sensitivity. This is one of the key factors to make Remescar Eye Bags & Dark Circles work correctly.
Step 3: Gently apply the cream on your entire under-eye area, and smooth it out from the inside to the outside with one finger. Blend in using a light gentle sweeping motion until the cream completely absorbs into the skin.
Step 4: Remain expressionless for 2-3 minutes while the product dries to achieve dramatic results (fanning will accelerate the process). Simply tissue off the excess of cream with a bit of water if too much cream is applied. Wash hands and close the tube after use.
For under makeup:
First, apply your usual products (eye serum, daily moisturizer, etc.) and allow time for these products to penetrate the layers of your skin (a minute or two). Then you can apply a very thin layer of Remescar Eye Bags and Dark Circles to the targeted area as instructed above. If you see a white residue you have either used too much product or did not use moisturizer. Simply tissue off the white residue with a bit of water. Once the product has dried, apply your makeup as usual.
Note: Oil-based makeup may reduce the effectiveness of Remescar Eye Bags & Dark Circles.
Performance and Ingredients
When I first started using Remescar Eye Bags and Dark Circles, there was an immediate slight depuffing and numbing effect but it was subtle. Subsequent usages did not yield much results. My undereye area looked dry and crepey-like, the following morning.
Improvement as shown when I applied more. No touch up, no makeup. |
The recommendation was to use a small amount but since I wasn't seeing any depuffing action, I squeeze out more gel to be applied and that is when I saw my undereye bags being depuffed slightly with a slight tightening and numbing sensation, however, it caused pilling and the "extra" gel ended up as dry flaky residue on the undereye area which was ugly and even more drying.
The video below demonstrate on what to do, if you encounter dry flaky residue....
On the packaging, it was written that, if we see a white residue, it meant we may have applied too much or did not apply any moisturizer and to simply tissue off with water. However, I did apply an eye cream prior to the this product and in fact I am using Remescar Eye Contour Cream.
There was no indication on the packaging that the product cannot be used twice a day but it did mention that you only need to apply once a day to see the effect. The reason, as I found out later on the website, is because the product effects can last you 8 to 10 hours on average, hence only a single application is needed in a day.
There was also no indication on the packaging that the product cannot be used for long duration, however, its a different story on its website.
How often can Remescar Eye Bags and Dark Circles be used?
Use only once a day. Do not use the product continuously for more than 4 weeks.
At the time of writing this post, I have used it for more than 5 months, twice a day initially to once a day now, as I did not see any results. I would soon be depleting it. The quality of the printing on the tube was also slightly lower than norm. Its fonts faded and disappeared after some time. Considering the price, I would expect better quality.
Ingredients
Remescar Eye Bags and Dark Circles is said to give you an instant effect because of its revolutionary EYESYL technology that immediately targets eye bags and dark circles, by using a unique combination of clay minerals and a bi-peptide complex which will lead to strong skin tightening, a decrease of fluid accumulation under the eyes and a micro-muscular pause. These actions will help to reduce the puffiness of the eyes and eliminate the appearance of dark circles.
The key ingredient in this product is...
Acetyl Octapeptide-3 : Claimed to influence the muscle contraction process that results in a more relaxed and line-free face, especially around the forehead and the eyes, like the commonly known "Botox-like" peptide called Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 or Argireline. That said, botox-inspired peptides are quick fixes rather than being collagen builders or real preventers of structural aging. They are nice additions to an anti-aging skincare routine but not the real superstars (think vitamin C, AHAs or retinol).

Conclusion
To conclude, Remescar Eye Bags and Dark Circles did not exactly work 100% for me. While there was slight improvement to the undereye area if I applied more, however, the white flaky residue left behind was a constant issue and my undereye area looked dry and crepey-like the following morning.
The claims and effectiveness seemed slightly different from advertised and the difference was not that drastic as what was shown in the video. Adding to that, this was a temporary fix, so its not a permanent solution. I actually purchased this product thinking that the more you used it, the better the undereye area would be. That said, it would work great for those with minor eye bag issues during important events.
The tightening effect did not occur every time so even with 5 months of consistent usage, it did not yield much positive results for my eye bags. You have to play around with the correct amount to get that tightening effect.
It won't be a repurchase for me, but it had been an interesting and positive experience for me to finally see some "shrinking" for my eye bags.
