While out shopping with my girlfriends, we chanced upon a 1 for 1 special deal for the Mummy Mud Mask at Guardian and subsequently purchased 2 pieces for $7 (instead of the original $7 for 1 piece).
April Skin is a South Korean cosmetics brand established in October 2014. Known for its cosmetics which are made from natural ingredients, their first products launched were the Natural Soap and Magic Stone.
According to Forbes, the duo launched their natural cosmetics brand, AprilSkin and claiming to be the first company to use social media influencer marketing in South Korea which attracted 10 million followers. Some of the videos the company created featured teen bloggers experimenting with its signature Magic Stone soap went viral, leading to massive sales in a country obsessed with beauty products.
Packaging, Scent and Texture
April Skin Mummy Mud Mask comes in 2 parts - one for the upper face and one for the lower face. Both parts are protected within a clear hard plastic layer and each of the upper/lower face piece is protected within a plastic protective layer and a white matte film.
Ash-grey in colour, the mud mask has a subtle kaolin scent with a cooling sensation. The cutting is just right for my cherubic face shape, except for a slightly longer nose flap. The thin material felt like a hydrogel with mud-like contents on the mask.
How To Use :
1. Clean your face thoroughly and smooth the skin using a facial toner.
2. Remove the transparent film of the upper mask first, and apply the mask on the face and peel off the white matte film.
3. Apply the lower mask in the same way.
4. When the mask becomes completely dry ( 30 minutes ), peel it off from the chin.
5. Wash up remains on the face and moisturizes with a facial toner.
Performance and Ingredients
Unlike other mud masks which can be messy and drying, April Skin Mummy Mud Mask is convenient and effective which reminded me of my favourite Su:m37 Bright Award D-Purifying Clay Sheet Mask. I really enjoyed using mud masks which are made like sheet masks.
Rinse off after 30 minutes and I can see that my skin looked brighter, much smoother with almost non-existent pores!
In terms of ingredients, April Skin Mummy Mud Mask contains the following :
Kaolin : gently exfoliates and absorbs oils from the skin
Bentonite : draws out oil and impurities, unclogs and shrinks pores, and can prevent acne with antibacterial properties
Volcanic Ash : contains lightening and brightening properties which can help to reduce the appearance of dark spots and acne scars
