Review for Acwell Dermild Airy Sun Control Stick SPF 50PA++++
Product Description
ACWELL Dermild Airy Sun Control Stick with SPF 50+ PA++++ has a non-oily and non-sticky application. Once applied on skin, it will be easily absorbed. It is a lightweight moisturizing sun stick and it keeps your skin fresh throughout the day.

I first came across Acwell Dermild Airy Sun Control Stick SPF 50 PA++++ when I was shopping in one of the beauty stores in Korea. The promoter highly recommended it to me, as there was a 1 for 1 promotional price. Prior to this, I have only tried Acwell facial sheet masks and was initially hesitant in trying out a sun stick as I was worried about the hygienic factor and the difficulty of it gliding on my skin.

However, I was won over by the promoter's sales pitch and with the 1 for 1 promotion, it was hard to resist so off the bundle goes, into my basket.

Made in Korea, Acwell is a Korean herbal skincare brand that focuses on helping sensitive and troubled skin.

Packaging, Scent and Texture

Acwell Dermild Airy Sun Control Stick SPF 50PA++++ comes in a bright blue 20g cover stick where you remover the cap, twist the base to get the stick out and glide it on the face. You can also apply over the vulnerable areas to sun rays which are neck, arms and legs.

Application for Acwell Dermild Airy Sun Control Stick SPF 50PA++++

It has a light floral perfum-y scent which lingers for a short while before dissipating. The balmy texture is much easier to glide on skin than expected, leaving a smooth canvas which can doubled up as a makeup base. A 20g stick lasted me for about 5 months.

Performance

Acwell Dermild Airy Sun Control Stick SPF 50PA++++ was my first sun stick. Initially I do have concerns on the usage part as well as the cleanliness part.

How do I glide the sun stick on the nose edges?
- just apply how you normally do, when you apply foundation. Just pretend that the sun stick is your fingers or brush. After awhile, I got the hang of it and using the sun stick was a breeze.

How do I keep the sun stick clean?
I get a little OCD over cleanliness when it comes to beauty products which is why I don't have a dressing table in my room. All my products are kept in drawers because I didn't like dust on my daily items.

Performance of Acwell Dermild Airy Sun Control Stick

I always make sure to use Acwell Dermild Airy Sun Control Stick SPF 50PA++++ on clean skin, hence after cleansing, I would do my skincare routine immediately, with the sun stick as the last step if I don't apply makeup. I would also use a tissue to gently wipe over the top of the balm after every use, to reduce the possibility of contamination. And if I use it on the face, I won't use it any where else, so I have not tried it on neck, arms and legs so far.

Usage of Acwell Dermild Airy Sun Control Stick

Acwell Dermild Airy Sun Control Stick has a thin light texture and after every usage, it left a silky coating on skin making skin feels smooth to the touch. There is no white cast and isn't greasy at all.

However, because of the thin texture, I tend to run the balm all over my skin twice and add on another sunscreen on top, if I am heading out. However, if I am just lounging at home, I would just apply the balm only.

Please note that layering sunscreens do not offer additional SPF like an equation but it increases overall coverage. Like if you use SPF40 as the first sunscreen followed by SPF50 as the second sunscreen, it would not offer you SPF90 but sometimes I like to layer sunscreens for overall coverage in cases where I think the first one may not offer sufficient protection. In fact, this study has demonstrated that the combined effect of two sunscreen applications gave on average 2.3 times better protection from UVR than a single sunscreen application.

That said, not all UV filters work well together as some filters may deactivate each other and compromise the level of protection so your best bet would be to layer the same type. ie. physical with physical and chemical with chemical.

What is great about sun stick, is their portability and how convenient it is, especially if you use it on the body, arms and legs, without worries that they would spill in your bag or during travels. And if your hands are not clean, your balm comes to the rescue as you don't even have to wash your hands. You can also touch up as often as you need.

Conclusion

Using Acwell Dermild Airy Sun Control Stick SPF 50PA++++ has been a pleasant experience and I would no doubt, be looking out for more sun sticks to try in future. I love how easy and convenient to just a swipe it on the face without dirtying the hands as well as the light and non-greasy texture for my combination skin type.

Adding on, SPF50 PA++++ is my gold standard for wearing sunscreens in humid Singapore, however, if there is a physical sunscreen in stick form, it would be perfect!
