Packaging, Scent and Texture
Barr Centella Calming Barrier Cream is housed in a 80ml white plastic tube with a flick top cap. As the name implies, the cream is thick ( being a barrier cream ) but not as thick as other barrier creams in the market. It has a smooth consistency, with a hint of tackiness and no scent. Just a pea sized amount would do, so a tube will last for quite a long while.
How To Use :
After cleansing, toner and treatment steps, apply an adequate amount of the cream on your face and neck. Massage gently into your skin to help with absorption.
TIP 1: You can mix 1-2 drops of facial oil into the cream to boost its moisturising benefits.
TIP 2: After showering, you can also apply this cream on cracked elbows and heels.
Performance and Ingredients
Formulated with cult-favorite ingredient cica extract, this cream soothes and strengthens the skin barrier. Its cruelty-free and vegan formula is gentle on skin and boasts a lightweight texture that absorbs quickly into skin. Can also be used to apply on dry areas such as the elbows and knees.
Contains 64% of Centella Asiatica Extract and 1% of Panthenol to soothe and moisturises skin, it forms a moisture barrier with 1% of Squalane to prevent moisture loss and helps with sebum secretion with 1% of Jojoba oil for better skin moisturising.
The barrier cream, white creamy in colour and texture looks heavy and I initially thought it might be too heavy and suffocating for my combination-dehydrated skin but it was never so. It has a smooth consistency, no scent and applies beautifully with a semi-matte finishing for both day and night, although I would prefer to apply it in the night or when I am in air-conditioned places.
It pairs well with Barr Centella Calming Gel Essence, for well-hydrated protected skin without any flakiness, a dependable moisturiser when you travel. I also like pairing it with Geek & Gorgeous A-Game to combat the effects of a drying retinol serum, if any.
Overall, my skin looks healthier and more resilient.
That said, it worked great when I was in Singapore, but less so, when I brought it along for a short trip to Desaru, Malaysia, battling with both heat in the day and cold in the air-conditioned room, leaving slight flakiness on the nostrils.

Conclusion
To conclude, Barr Centella Calming Barrier Cream is a slightly acidic barrier cream designed to calm and soothe sensitive skin with 64% Centella Asiatica. The formula is supported with 1% Panthenol which is a pro-vitamin of Vitamin B5, 1% Squalane and 1% Jojoba Seed Oil to offer deep hydration while aiding in smoothing skin texture, leaving it soft and supple.
Indeed, it is a lovely cream moisturiser that protects and hydrates skin pretty well. I prefer to use this heavier moisturiser in the night or in air-conditioned office although it can still work well in the day leaving skin soft and supple without clogging pores.
