Review : Handmade Heroes Rose Petals Rice Scrub

Product Description
Inspired by the extravagance of overflowing rose petals baths, our Super Duper Nourishing Rice Scrub in Rose Petals is nothing short of luxury. Generously slather yourself with ultra luxe rose petals while gently exfoliating and nourishing your skin with ground organic rice
Using Asia's best kept beauty secret, we ground organically grown rice into a gentle exfoliant. The minerals in the rice softens as it scrubs away dirt and dead skin to reveal a brighter, fresher skin. Delightfully mixed with cocoa butter and sweet almond oil to hydrate thirsty skin, leaving it toned and silky soft.

100% natural, vegan and cruelty free, with no parabens, preservatives or synthetic chemicals, you will also be pleased to know that Handmade Heroes Rose Petals Rice Scrub contains only 5 ingredients. Adding on top of that, is that this body scrub is a Harper's Bazaar Beauty Awards 2016 Winner for being the Best Organic Exfoliator. Isn't that awesome?

At 125g a tub, it is considered a tiny size for a body scrub, as far as I am concerned since I typically use more for the body ( as compared to a facial scrub ), even though I am petite in size. If you are taller or larger in size, you will probably used up the product at a faster rate than me.

Handmade Heroes Rose Petals Rice Scrub is very different from the usual body scrubs as organic rice is the base instead of the commonly used salt or sugar. In Japan, the women use rice water for soft and smooth skin.

The hint of rose petals and rice scent is unique and interesting and I look forward to using the scrub every time. When I first opened up the tub, the oil ( mixture of cocoa butter and almond oil ) was on one side, while the dry granules-like paste were on the other side. However, after using it once, the oil disappeared. Either, it went into the contents or that it has been used up while I was trying to mix both, prior to massaging on body.

Peering into the tub, you can see red specks which refer to the rose petals.

As shown, the contents are dry and I have to use a little force to scoop up the contents using the provided plastic spatula. More brutal force is required after a couple of times of usage as the contents have hardened and stuck around the edges of the tub.

It is recommended to add water to the contents, before using on the body. However, since my hands and body are wet, I usually don't bother to add water to it, but use it directly to skin. Please do not pour water into the tub as it will increase the rate of bacteria as Rose Petals Rice Scrub does not contain parabens or preservatives.

Unlike the conventional creamy body exfoliant, the texture of Handmade Heroes Rose Petals Rice Scrub is like a slightly dry paste which tends to leave debris all over the floor as you scrub on skin. In a way, it can get pretty wasteful so I will do a sole scrub with those leftovers on the bathroom.

I love how it makes my skin super duper smooth yet is non-drying because of the inclusion of cocoa butter and almond oil. How about you? Have you tried this product before?
