Product Description
Whether it is to refresh one’s image with a new hair color or to cover dreaded gray strands, CIELO Mousse helps you tackle the pressure of hectic schedules with a lustrous, crowning glory. Introducing a new innovative packaging for DIY hair color, CIELO Mousse allows busy professionals to look effortlessly well put-together with a simple touch of a button. Designed to be easy, quick and convenient, this little DIY hair color encased in an innovative pump bottle takes just twenty minutes to provide complete gray coverage and reinvigorate your appearance. Choose from ten available shades to suit any personality, style and career.

As a last minute ditch effort to hide the ever-growing greys on Chinese New Year Eve, I purchased the Cielo Mousse Hair Colour in Dark Brown ( shade 5 ) and attempted my first DIY hair colouring job on the same day.

They came in several shades and since covering greys is a concern, I chose Dark Brown, Shade 5 which was a mistake I realized after the job because its too dark and look alittle artificial. Perhaps Shade 4 may be a better choice.

Out of the wide-ranging array of DIY hair colouring dyes out there, Cielo Mousse Hair Colour came to my mind, simply because of its ease of use with its Simply Press For Easy and Quick Foam.

It is also said to contain Evening Primrose, Eucalyptus and Grape Seed Oils to coat the hair surface, protecting and restoring shine. Marine Collagen and Aloe Vera Extract penetrate into hair shaft to moisturize and protect.

There is no mixing required, just press to dispense the creamy and non-drip mousse foam effortlessly and massage them into the hair with your hands. But before dispensing the mousse, please remember to shake the bottle up and down for 20 times, as per instruction, followed by slipping into the plastic gloves as provided.

However, being a newbie in such DIY hair colouring job, my concern is more on uneven-ness and being unable to cover the greys. Hence my hubby was kind enough to sit with me and comb the mousse foam all over my hair ( section by section ) for a good 20 - 30 minutes. I have long hair, so it takes awhile. Leave on hair for another 20 to 30 minutes.

Just before shampoo-ing, I did a final hair massage with my hands, akin to a shampoo wash for another 5 minutes and finally, start rinsing. Note that there will be some colour dye on the bathroom floor, so do ensure there is no more colour dye before stopping the hair shampoo-ing process.

Unfortunately, as what I have feared, my hair was like a lumpy pasta so I applied lots of conditioner and did the second shampoo wash again. Alterna Caviar Repair Fill and Fix Treatment Masque literally saved my hair by transforming it into a soft and silky pudding after the first shampoo wash. No kidding!

Thank goodness, the hair colour turned out all right, although it was alittle too dark for my likes. But 95% of the greys were covered so I am not complaining. The ammonia scent is minimal too.

However, in terms of ingredients, they are not friendly at all, which is expected. Some of the most
common and dangerous ingredients used in hair dyes are;

ammonia,
peroxide,
p-phenylenediamine,
diaminobenzene,
toluene-2,5-diamine,
resorcinol

....and Cielo Mousse Hair Colour contains 5 out of the 6 common ingredients as listed above. Only Diaminobenzene is not in it. These ingredients are said to cause serious skin, eye and lung irritation, immunotoxicity, allergies, chemical burns and blistering to the scalp, hair breakage and loss and some forms of cancer. You can read more about the toxic chemicals in hair dyes here

The colouring lasts me for about 1 month before the greys start peeking out. This is in conjunction with using my favourite hair colouring shampoo and conditioner once I coloured my hair.

Here's what I have tried before - Kao Rerise Hair Colour and Naturgin Organic Based 100% Permanent Hair Colour.
